That’s why I mentioned Bulldogs…The tigers had salary cap problems from the Benji and Farah tail ends of their contracts and found themselves with no buying power till they cleared the decks of all the players they had…For three years they bought no one and got slagged for two spoons…but the Bulldogs did the same thing with Des Hasler as coach but they were suppose to be riding two years behind tigers…But no…new management comes in and they Buy Kikau..Creighton..addo carr,,josh curran…blake taafe…toby sexton
Despite adding 25 new players in 18 months, the Dogs are yet to solve the single biggest issue that they have had the entire time, which is a lack of forward power through the middle…..how do they have buying power when tigers had none.

NRL Round 8 judiciary: Massive Manly blow as Haumole and DCE banned, Sivo charged for 'stupid' hit

Usually the strom discipline players that are from the QLD and NZ systems…The thing with the storm is as a player you leave your head at the door and they take your body and give you a position schedule where you must stay between the guidelines of the position you are playing…no passing,no kicking,,,no dummies and no stepping..your job may be to take the ball up and attempt to get a quick play the ball…that’s it…so they don’t want backrowers who unload or step or play short passes..
There is not many players who are organically from Victoria playing for the storm.

BUT WE ARE HAVING a jubilee because a footballer throws a smart pass….This is something coached out of players and the greater percentage of players are not even footballers,
Sivo was coming up fast on all occasions so Evans shows him the ball and he is left moving forward and in no man’s land…non first grade footballers can throw that pass with the double pump…it was probably spoken about a pass across Sivo’s back by Evans to his winger….Sivo kept flushing the outside centre out all game and because of this problem he was dumped to reserve grade..Like Nofoluma for weststigers…he did not know when to stay back or rush and any team with that wing defficiency has a 10-20 point handicap.

NRL Round 8 judiciary: Massive Manly blow as Haumole and DCE banned, Sivo charged for 'stupid' hit

there are a lot of teams breaching salary cap..all the wealthy clubs do it…even the Bulldogs which are suppose to be two years behind the tigers redevelopment but seem to draw named players over when there is suppose to be no money…
roosters, broncos, stormare all notorious….and some clubs who are developing juniors are getting their investment pillaged by wealthy teams.

but these are decisions when the play was stopped…there was no fatigue or split second looking at the Solomona decision…I did not know they had created this rule but I had just turned the TV on and saw him push and thought he created the rotatation which caused the pack to fall to the ground.
If the rule is that that he cant drive that is no try….and the high ball saw the jumper being hit in the air so he loses his positioning under the ball…
Every single referee will tilt the boards so a team that is behind will rally back into the game…This is why three quarters of games are still undecided in the last two minutes…..every referee is grand stand finishing the games.

'Both were really clear': Roosters in a rage over ref's contentious calls as Storm win on the back of two dubious tries

way back in bill harrigan’s day a ham radio magazine intercepted the great Warren Ryan taking on two way at a game and he said ”Bill Harrigan is a grand stand finish referee”…What that means is they don’t care who wins as long as it goes to the wire and both sets of fans feel like they got a piece of the action.
Today they are all encouraged to be grand stand finishing refs….that way the ref can leave the car park in peace…with all the fans getting a thrill.

'Both were really clear': Roosters in a rage over ref's contentious calls as Storm win on the back of two dubious tries

Absolute blight…I use to know instinctively what tackle it was …now I have no idea…a restart on first tackle is a one tackle penalty…but on tackle five is a five tackle gain…and probably for the similar offense…Sometimes we don’t know where the call is coming from…we hear that horrible noise and boom…Teams are purposely slowing things on first tackle because the penalty is only one tackle…..
and why have coaches not figured out yet that kicking and finding the turf deep towards the in goal is the best option…they are terrorfied on a 7 tackle set….what?…they are belted with 12-18 tackles with restarts so the risk of the ball going dead is not the end of the world..
No coach has figured it out yet but still they kick high and land the ball in the opponents arms on the 25 metre line….take the risk…kick long and lw to find the ground.

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

Tiger supporter and we would have gutherson any day…Fine 100% players.

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

There is no reason to penalise if a player uses his body to baulk an opponent…as long as he makes no contact…It is a rubbish rule and players need to catch the ball and bad luck if a player waves an arm through a players viewing space.

NRL Round 6 Talking Points: Concussion sub needs a fix, learning about 'disruption', why does everyone hate Gutho?

I’ve never considered restart count after games….yes…why not..
It is so hard to get back 10 metres per tackle and a set has a team breathing hard ,…but to drop 12 tackles and then 15 on a side is impossible to counter…Only a weak attack or fumble can stop a try…I can handle when an error is made the ref pulls the offside caper .

'Embarrassing': Joey fumes over Knights keeping injured Ponga on the park as Roosters rally to win nail-biter

As well as the Gagai quick tap with the ref saying”play on”….then he says you can’t quick tap on foul play….where was the foul PLAY….I say a slow play the ball and considered that the reason for the penalty.
These refs and bunkers are determining games far more with tackle restarts then scrum penalties which was changed to differential penalties to tie the refs hands….these repeated sets are killing teams…so easy for refs to tilt the playing field.

'Embarrassing': Joey fumes over Knights keeping injured Ponga on the park as Roosters rally to win nail-biter

I agree with the Collins clip and the play on one was outrageous grand stand finish referee’n as he said it was fould play but no one got called out…what foul play….You are wrong on the Crighton one though…If a player knocks on but fails to recover the ball and the ball finds the ground it is a knock on…even if the last knock was backwards….he initially lost it forward and did not secure the ball….those are the rules….and this other thing of players losing the ball into an opponent is going mad as well…I have seen a few examples of teams knocking the ball back to their line and making contact with opponent,,,,and being called knock forward…the rule is not lose the ball and if it contacts opponent it is lost ball…it was always in the knock on realm.///
The ball on the newcatle line where the rooster tried to offload got knocked back by newcastle

So based on the civil lawyers opinion he punishes him with a max penalty of half a million…If he had sold the properties and paid the moneys elsewhere then in civil sensibilities there is no money.

Whether NRL celebrates Jennings' milestone or not is irrelevant, the real issue is should he have been allowed back?

No prosecutor would push that barrow of she said he said.

Whether NRL celebrates Jennings' milestone or not is irrelevant, the real issue is should he have been allowed back?

Years ago you would pay attention to who was referee’ng the game…Each Ref had certain Idiosyncrasy….Now days they have all been grafted from Bill Harrigan’s mullet..
I want referees to ref the game and not automatically rule ”change over” when there is a difficult decision on a teams fifth tackle…I don’t want then to be consistently wrong.
As much as some find Gould’s demeanor off-putting I find he is a very astute analysis of the game.He knows well what he speaks about.

Fair comment not coming from unfair commentators whining about rules they should know off by heart

If the dummy half takes a step he should be liable and his hand can be played but the refs have the idea that the ball have to leave the ruck before anyone can snaffle an error from the hooker.
If the hooker has moved his stance he is open for challenges.

Fair comment not coming from unfair commentators whining about rules they should know off by heart

but that is the very reason the obstruction/shepherd rule was created…you can’t have a winger on the other side of the park being blocked from moving sideways even though fifty metres from ball and penalize it…and this is why black and white is madness.

Fair comment not coming from unfair commentators whining about rules they should know off by heart

It may be the letter of the law but as Gould says it is wrong. The rule stems out of the shepherd rule and to make it black and white is just so stupid…The so called obstruction could be 30 metres down field and the rule that is black and white loses the meaning of why the rule was created in the first place and that is if a players is prevented from moving to a location to stop a play.
I watched football for 50 years and never saw a penalty try until Harrigan pulled that Ainscough tackle against Smith in the grand final in 1999.
A penalty try must be unequivocal about the odds of the player scoring. We see weekly that players knock on or lose control of ball in process of putting ball over line and this is why it was so rare..

Fair comment not coming from unfair commentators whining about rules they should know off by heart

As far as the law outside of football is concern it should be blindfolded and that means sentencing is based on the crime and this recent inclusion of the social aspect of a crime becomes civil law..
The player should only be charged and punished based on the offence. Not if someone got 2 stitches or five.

NRL can reduce concussion headache by expanding the number of interchange players - with a retro twist

That’s absolutely right…more interchange just has the game heaving at full RPM’s for 80 minutes and that causes more headaches for injuries.
We don’t want coaches having more strings on the players that are out there…you have the option to load a body that can cover every position in your 13 with the four man interchange.
Does he think having wingers who were traditionally smaller players taking up the first run after a changeover has caused the game to get bigger and bigger bodies which is what ruins the health of players today.

NRL can reduce concussion headache by expanding the number of interchange players - with a retro twist

Then have 13 specialists…They can choose to place a rangy centre in the four interchange player.

NRL can reduce concussion headache by expanding the number of interchange players - with a retro twist

So we have exhausted the idea of stamina depletion that was always critical in rugby league and now you want to have bandaids for attrition….A combat sport has attrition as one of the factors that can determine a game and I believe if you take this out of the game we will homogenize the game.
A coach has four interchanges and we don’t want coaches having more of a role in game outcomes.
We don’t want coach’s playing chess. This is a team sport and the coach sends the team out with game plan and the players determine outcomes with crowd involvement being able to effect games.
Coaches have four players in which they can choose …They can have maximum weight or anticipate usage of an outside back. You already have the choice to load a position specific back.

NRL can reduce concussion headache by expanding the number of interchange players - with a retro twist

So running all game into a defense that never tires is going to reduce head injuries. They want to reduce interchanges if they are concerned with player health..

NRL can reduce concussion headache by expanding the number of interchange players - with a retro twist

Years ago when player welfare become an issue the dopey sports scientist looked at statistics and found injuries happen when players were tired….ie:both defensively and offence players would make errors that led to injuries.
So these dopey scientist came to the league and said”If we have unlimited interchange then we won’t have depleted players and injuries would lesson.
What these Einsteins did not understand that now for 80 non stop minutes you have fresh players hammering the offensive line.Wingers and outside backs needed to become second rowers so the Bradley Clyde big mobile forwards become the Bradley Clones in the back line.
This created a terrible mismatch at the grassroot levels with this unlimited interchange leading to 130kg behemoths and park football saw 120kg 12 year olds making cannon fodder or late maturing boys from certain ethnic groups.
Where was player welfare in all this.It was gone….and the footballers were replaced by”athletes”.
Players were getting hammered from pillar to post and the image of the trophy of Provan and Authurson, the big man vs the small man was gone.
No longer were we to see the later part of the half where the small man shined and carved up those fumbling boring goliaths.
Fans did not mind because the league built it self on virtue of the big hit.
Even though they have reduced the interchange it is still too frequent and the centre 4 defenders are on non stop rotation and there is no space for the little man.
Remember in the hard days of the 70’s and 80’s 75kg men could compete.
Not today because the game is about field position and not possession which it was in those days of the hard men.
The beginning of the end of rugby league was mostly done by a referee.Bill harrigan destroyed the ruck…which was a pivot point in the game…a contest..But he had it in mind to make grey areas of the game and shift responsibility from the referee to a host of ghost like figures like the bunker and linesmen..As long as they get out of the parking lot.
I first heard it said by the great coach Warren Ryan when reading a ham radio and scanners magazine. There was Warren saying on the radio which was intercepted and he said”Bill Harrigan is a grand stand finish referee…As long as the game has a grand stand finish all the punters will go home feeling like they got a mouth full of a chance of winning”,…Now every referee is a grand stand finish referee and player welfare is determined by the solicitors and legal department in News Ltd,,,,Funny how the owner of the game is the one who discredits the league players the most with revelations…Maybe destroying the game is their agenda because if soccer rose more subscriptions for cable or fox sports would be sold.
But what do I know?

Game’s gone soft, huh? League's tough enough without dangerous incidents getting feather touch from judiciary
