The main positive for GWS going forward is their home stadium. Skoda Stadium is one of the best football grounds I have been to in terms of you getting a good view of the action no matter where you stand or sit. It has a great boutique feel to it and is far superior to watching football at Homebush/ANZ Stadium. (Homebush is ok on the lower levels only.)

One suggestion for improvement is that their guernsey should be all orange as that would help with merchandise sales and would also help to properly differentiate them from other teams. The charcoal colour should be eliminated or minimised. Who wants to buy a charcoal coloured hat or shirt?

There are some good players coming through – Dylan Shiel, Lachie Whitfield etc…if they can progress at the required level they should have a reasonably good future.

Demetriou's legacy: GWS success or failure

Soccer? I did the soccer thing about ten years back but realised in the end that the ONLY reason I liked it was to witness the English styled chanting on tv re:EPL footage. I realised that the actual game didn’t interest me at all. I gain more enjoyment from American sports in the off-season due to the actual sport – there is a friggin amazing Major League Baseball comp going on right now and the NFL is also entertaining. If I want the sport to be entertaining I watch American sports in the off-season, not British sports.

If I want to watch a whole lot of Australians pretend they are on the terraces in England I will watch the A-League again. I have given it a try and after a while watching people in the crowd becomes dull. Like you Mary I was more intrigued by the crowd, but I have been there, done that.

Who do we sing for? Well, it's complicated...

Interesting analysis Troy.

There is a case for arguing throwing the All-Australian panel open to a wider panel (thereby eliminating bias) or alternatively letting the supporters/fans choose the initial squad and then having the final squad chosen by a larger panel than what they have now.

The tagger is an important position in football these days – yet the tagger seems to be consistently overlooked in All-Australian squads. I would presume that if the supporters had a say in voting (even if just on an initial squad) a player such as Ryan Crowley would have been chosen in the squad, yet for the All-Australian selectors they consistently overlook taggers.

Which clubs are snubbed by the AFL's All-Australian selectors?
