Because the NRL is the king of reactionary thinking.

Queensland hammer NSW 26-6 in State of Origin 2, level series

Absolute grubs. How can you support such muppets?

And again a Blue throws one when he isn’t looking. Good look boys. You blues are pathetic.

Go Ruddy!

Oh, I mean go Maroons!!

Why of the 3 games are 2 in Sydney?
Surely the third could be played in Melbourne or even in Perth?

HG Nelson: 'The Lions play best when they don't have the ball...'

Smith doesn’t have to prove anything. If someone can’t see that he is better then every other hooker running around then their eyes are painted on.

2013 State of Origin: game two preview

Boy oh boy, these 2 are just bad news for each other. Sure they can play, but the effect of their behaviour on the rest of the team and culture of the Blues must be taken into account.

UPDATE: Blake Ferguson charged, suspended by NRL - will miss Origin

I think there is a case to be made for both, but specifically I was referring to the personalities. There seems to be a boys club operating which centres around certain Sydney darlings eg. Clarke and Warner, I have heard from many a source a great rift operating between these guys and the likes of Hussey, Watson and Siddle. There were a few events around Hussey’s retirement from test cricket that seemed to indicate this as well.

Does Australian cricket need a clean out?

I have long heard rumours from people that move in the same circles as some of these guys that it is the Sydney centric nature of the Australian Cricket team (and Wallabies too for that matter) that really drives a wedge between the players..

So the swinging arm got nothing?
Either way, 1 weeks suspension and no sin bin for Gallen’s actions leaves the NRL with egg on it’s face.

Violence or apathy? Rugby league at a crossroads

Penalty and suspension were for the swinging arm.

Gallen got SFA for the combo of punches, perhaps because he wears sky blue and has a (c) next to his name.

Are you suprised at that?
Good on ya N(SW)rl, on show to the whole country here.

From a city of close to 5 million, as opposed to 2m..

The unbearable lightness of being a New South Welshman

And yet they jump out of their skins to represent this great state, whilst arguably your best player (Lyon) doesn’t want anything to do with the blues. What does that tell you?

The unbearable lightness of being a New South Welshman

Stolen?
I think you’ll find you sold your own game for a quick buck. Only for Barry to run in and save the day. Pressure is now solely on you though, anything less then two 80 000 crowds and NSW will once again be the laughing stock of Australian sport.

The unbearable lightness of being a New South Welshman

Well to be fair you did ask Ryan.
Whether that is the reason or not, the amount of vitriol Inglis receives on any sports opinion site regarding origin is ridiculous. If I was a NSW fan I would be asking why these players *WANT* to play for QLD, what is it that attracts them to play for a state they have no real connection to, and conversely why they don’t want to play for their state of origin. Obviously QLD are doing something right.

Five blood-boiling QLD Maroons State of Origin villains

Completely agree. The Roars fascination with all things GWS is a bit frightening.

These posters claim they hate AFL, don’t care for GWS and repeatedly tell anyone who will listen how they will fail yet continue to post

If you really don’t care then perhaps stick to the league/union/soccer articles because from where I sit the chip on the shoulder is more like an elephant.

GWS to hit schools to convert AFL fans

Considering the NRL CEO came out recently calling for an end to fudged crowd figures I would say you don’t have a leg to stand on.

World Cup? *Cringe*

Perhaps if the result wasn’t a forgone conclusion I would take more interest.

As for your sold out grounds in England, I think I would take more notice of the state of the English super league before I go bragging.

And once again you fellaz are on here debating crowd figures..

Hey champ, how many did you count at the tigers last night? Even if it was close to the 7000 quoted that is still an embarrassment to Sydney from a team consisting of 2 rugby league teams from the west with years and years of history. Add to that the 11 000 the bulldogs got ( one of the more popular teams against a powerhouse in the broncos).

Meanwhile 65 000 turn up down south.

But by all means keep scrutinising the Giants.

Yes he did. Thought it was very cringeworthy myself. He asked more then once as well, didn’t get the reply he wanted first time around. Richo said he was visibly upset and Bruce replies ‘so was he crying? Were there tears?’

Indigenous round marred by shocking racial slur

In winter..

Probably the same as Brisbane or Perth, perhaps a bit higher then Port Phillip. Still not enough to make up the difference. Sydney siders are predominantly home bodies.

Giant challenges ahead for Greater Western Sydney

Yes very good, that explains the empty stadiums. As for attending music festivals, going to the theatre or museum.. well as I said once again Sydney lags behind the other capital cities.

Yet time and time again studies will show that people from all the other capital cities go to sport, music, theatre, museums etc in far greater numbers.

No me thinks Syndey-siders like to sit in their homes or venture to the local RSL and continually tell themselves how thriving and happening Sydney is.

Melbourne does have a large migrant population, in fact I’m led to belive more so then Sydney. Yet AFL is still king by a long long long way. I hear all sorts of conspiracy theories as to why that is (media blackout etc) but really at the end of the day it’s because Aussie Rules is inclusive. People move from overseas to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and whilst continuing to follow their soccer team jump on board the AFL train and follow a side here as well.

Compare that to Sydney where there is still
Massive divides between the sports. The upper class in the easy and north predominantly follow rugby. The working and middle class with rugby league and the large migrant community out west are really putting soccer on the map. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that it clearly highlights the work that AFL has done, particularly through men like Sheedy.
