I was born in Auckland in 1950. Uncle Bob stopped sending me the All Blacks Book for Boys when we moved to Sydney in ‘58. Playing Hooker with the UNSW Reserve Grade side I made our touring team to NZ in 1973, and Uncle Bob wrote about it in the Levin Chronicle—"Prodigal Son Returns."

Hooper was like a train without a station 😛

I’m very happy with 7 likes. The reader is always right. 🏉 👍 😁

Yeah. Hoops tried hard but doesn’t have a cupboard full of trophies does he. I hope he goes one better.

Hi Parksey. What a dud lot are the Tahs. Go Rebels, we need their coaching team. On another tack was very sorry to see Roigard go down, it’s a tough game professional rugby.

The Wrap: Good news and bad news for Rugby Australia as Brumbies and Rebels win local derbies

Why doesn’t captaincy come into question ? Jake’s on the paddock at least.

Ask razor, how’s he feeling trying to reassemble Fozzies team.

Yes playing for the wooden spoon. Rebels could make the 8.

I just had a light bulb moment. RA can merge the Rebels with the Tahs and we get their coach for next year. In the meantime Stephen Hoiles can step in.

Cec, absolutely my man!.

Razor's pursuit of 'hard bastard' Sam Whitelock reveals the ugly truth about the modern All Blacks

Somewhere I read that some OB reckoned Jason Ryan was an absolute key to this forwards puzzle. He’s got to be listened to as well; what does Jason think?

Razor's pursuit of 'hard bastard' Sam Whitelock reveals the ugly truth about the modern All Blacks

It’s really just the short-term vs the long-term, Brendan, don’t you think? The Abs who almost won the RWC have departed to bank money for their future, but maybe Razor will be able to bring them back home to ensure short-term wins. they are getting past it, so it’s a balancing act. Why can’t the NZ public be more reasonable? Is their very existence dependent on the AB’s win/loss ratio or just beating Australia? 😁

Razor's pursuit of 'hard bastard' Sam Whitelock reveals the ugly truth about the modern All Blacks

I think part of the NZ issue is that the prior ABs win/loss ratio was so good that anything less is seen as failure and baying for blood. Razor must be feeling it so he’s reluctant to develop some young guys in favour of having the old guard hanging on too long, just to beat England for example.

I think you see this sort of stuff all the time, whether in the NRL, Super Rugby, or AFL. It’s marginal, but often, the culprit gets away with it. Examples include Reece Walsh, Tom Lynagh, and too many to mention in the AFL.

'If the NRL are serious about concussions, where does this sit?' Kevvie fires up after May escapes ban for Walsh's fracture

When I was with ‘Which Bank” many years ago, we learnt that sacking people was not always the best answer. There’s a lot of risk in selecting the replacement and worse, the problem might the selectors or the directors!. You can always get help for the current guy, it’s cheaper and just might work.

'He's holding a grudge': Fiji coach trolls Coleman after dramatic win over Tahs

I hate to be blunt but the AB’s aren’t the no. 1 team in the world anymore, best to rebuild.

Razor's pursuit of 'hard bastard' Sam Whitelock reveals the ugly truth about the modern All Blacks

Yes, I think a couple of mentors would be a great idea, but aren’t you postponing the inevitable? Razor should be building for the next RWC, upon which everything will be judged, and in the meantime, those great players are being funded to enjoy their life and family.

Who can forget Troy Coker from the 1991 RWC winners? 😊 🥊 🏉

Wallabies Power Rankings: How every Test contender is shaping up one month into Super Rugby

I feel for Sam Cane. He’s done all that was asked but didn’t make it happen by a hairs breadth. Red carded in the final, Shakespeare couldn’t have scripted a tragedy better. But I’m pretty sure Razor has other ideas.

I guess he’s not spending too much time looking at Sam Cane 😛

Trust in Razor. He will get everything he wants but in true NZ fashion only after a crisis like losing the first Bledisloe Cup game. Hang onto your keyboards.

Good on you Geoff for bringing up CTE. It’s sickening if anyone close to you has suffered from it and died prematurely. One of my high school rugby mates did just that and the family tried to cover it up. Shameful. Another close friend has a 40 year old son, ex junior rugby player in an institution after graduating in law from Sydney Uni. Very sad.

The Wrap: Reds light up Melbourne, while it's lights out for TV over Lienert-Brown concussion

Yes gidday Jacko. I think the AU sides have at least found out what’s needed to match the NZ sides and are starting to step up. The make up of the final 8 will be interesting if 2-3 AU sides make it and then an upset or two could follow.

Thanks for this weeks Wrap Geoff. Great insight. Made me think. Ask the wife. She can’t. 😁
