Siddle is contracted to the Adelaide Strikers in the big bash. He’s gone to Tasmania to play shield and 50 over cricket.

Peter Handscomb moves south in Big Bash switch

You’re mixing up ODI form and Test form, sure he’s a total spud at test level but he’s almost certainly in the first choice ODI XI.

COVID-19 won’t stop England series as Australia announce squad for UK tour

I think that England will have a few Kolpak players that they’d like to naturalize before the next Ashes:

Simon Harmer has been playing for Essex since 2016 and is probably England’s best spinner.

Rilee Rossouw and Kyle Abbott have been playing for Hampshire since 2017, while Dane Villas has been playing for Lancashire since 2017.

All for would probably be a decent chance at making the English team for the Ashes if they’re allowed to.

England are piecing together their side for next year's Ashes

Of the players you’ve mentioned, I wonder how many would make the first choice XI.

Harris
Maddinson
Pucovski
Handscomb (c)
Maxwell
Finch
Harper (wk)
Sutherland
Pattinson
Boland
Mackin

I know Victoria’s usual strategy is to bat either Sutherland or Pattinson at 7 so they can play the extra bowler, but if Maxwell’s available they’re better off using him as their main spinner and going in with 4 quicks.

Five players from Victoria you should watch this summer

Surely Doug Walters is worth a mention.

Batting average 35, bowling average 27

Help us pick the greatest Ashes XI of all time

One idea, would be to play it in seperate blocks.

Block A: 20 games would be played over a couple of weeks during the October school holidays possibly at smaller and regional venues.

Block B: 36 games + finals played over the Summer Holidays with the final being played on Australia Day.

The BBL is slowly but surely going downhill

I’m not quite sure where you get that 1/20 innings stat Garth.

Maxwell has played 100 ODI innings and has passed 50 in 20 of them. Or 1/5

That’s not accounting for not outs and the odd quick fire 20/30/40 Which was what the team needed in a particular situation.

Glenn Maxwell sorely missed as Australia lose in South Africa

People need to seperate Marsh in test cricket cricket and Marsh in limited overs.

In test cricket he’s a spud, I’d consider him the worst player to play test cricket for Australia in my lifetime.

He’s a far better white ball player, in ODIs he averages 35 with the bat and 36 with the ball.

Glenn Maxwell sorely missed as Australia lose in South Africa

Ronchi is a T20 specialist these days, he hasn’t played for nz since 2017, I’m not sure about the waiting period for him to be eligible for Australia again.

Marsh, Wade and Carey must be given time

If Australia has both Maxwell and M.Marsh in the best XI, it would be silly to bat agar at 7, Wells deserves a chance because he can actually bat in the middle in order.

The best xi would be:

Finch
Warner
Smith
Maxwell
Wells
M.Marsh
Wicket-Keeper who can bat aggressively (probably Inglis, Philippe or Harper, or an outside the box selection like Luke Ronchi or Riki Wessles)
Agar
Starc
Cummins
Zampa

If Maxwell isn’t fit for the nz series go for either Beau Webster or Moises

Marsh, Wade and Carey must be given time

Unfortunately Maxwell won’t play anymore shield cricket this season because of his Australian commitments, but if he does well in the next few white ball series it may get him into the squad for Bangladesh.

Surely they’d consider picking a pace allrounder meaning Moises, Stoinis or even wildermuth might be a couple decent scores away from a test spot

Sheffield Shield once again a crucial battleground for Test spots

Seeing as Finch isn’t in the frame for test selection, I think he should retire from first class cricket so he can focus on ODIs and T20s.

Warner and Finch becoming all-time great combo

Surely Maxwell has made a decent case for Test selection, his shield form since being dropped has been solid (from limited opportunities).

I can’t see him pushing anyone out of the current top 6, but I’d have him as the reserve batsman in Bangladesh.

Joe Burns, Matthew Wade and Travis Head are here to stay

I think an 8 team shield comp could work well, the 2 new teams would be ACT and NT, I’d probably stick with a 10 game season.

Australia needs to plan for its wicketkeeping future

No worries, mate.

An overview of Australian Cricket in the 2010s

It’s interesting, there’s a few players with international experience who haven’t made their states shield team.

SA: Ferguson
WA: Cartwright, Short and Tye.
Tas: Sandhu and Faulkner
Qld: Swepson

It’s open season as the scramble for top-order runs begins

Yea his test selection was ridiculous.

I’m surprised he hasn’t played more white ball cricket for Australia, he did really well opening the batting for nsw in the one dayers during his last 3 years there.

An overview of Australian Cricket in the 2010s

Maddison wasn’t blacklisted, he broke his hand near the end of the shield season.

Besides he got 3 tests, not 1.

An overview of Australian Cricket in the 2010s

Do we know if all the Socceroos/Aleague games will be shown live outside of the east coast, I checked some online TV guides and apparently Thursday’s Socceroos match will be shown on delay in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth surely the ABC needs to sort this out.

ABC viewers must see attacking football when they watch the A-League

If Warner doesn’t perform in this test, I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides to retire from test cricket at the end of the series and spends the next 5 or so years playing twenty20.

Marcus Harris deserves this chance at Usman Khawaja's expense

Go watch his test century in India, didn’t hit a 4 till he was on 40

Made it to 50 off 95 balls, made the 100 off 180 balls.

Mitch Marsh Ashes recall would be farcical

They’ve already got Labuchagne in the side, if they want another allrounder in the team what’s wrong with Maxwell?

He averages more than 40 in first class cricket cricket, and according to the Cricket Australia website, espn cricinfo and Wikipedia he is an allrounder.

He’s right handed and currently in England, they could call him into the squad if they wanted.

Mitch Marsh Ashes recall would be farcical

If they want reserve batsman, there are a few guys playing county cricket.

In the latest round of county cricket that started on Sunday:

Maxwell made 31

Finch made 90 batting at 6

Carey 56 & 69* playing as a specialist batsman batting at 5

I think any of the 3 would be better than Mitch Marsh.

I did hear the Siddle pulled up sore, if he’s unavailable do you go back to Starc or Pattinson or play Neser.

Australia should not fight Jofra Archer with fire

In his last game of first class cricket, Maxwell took 4 wickets and made a 50, if that doesn’t count as an allrounder I don’t know what does.

Bancroft, Labuschagne and Siddle in my Ashes XI

So Mitch Marsh gets picked for his worst format (tests), but he doesn’t get picked for his best format (ODIs).

Should’ve just let him play Twenty20 for Glamorgan so he can push for a spot in the Australian Twenty20 team.
