Well, if you were paying attention, Gavin – Rhys wrote an article saying that there are so many NZ, Japan, English expats that ARU can get players from these countries to come and play in these xtra treams because there is an already existing tribal fanbase. No-brainer.

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

I was really impressed by Bower’s passing in the final. De G can pass too.

How will the Super Rugby Pacific final impact All Blacks selection?

Those HIAs meant Ngatai had to become pragmatic.

Havili had an interesting interview about learning how to recover after games and saying he was just so tired at EOYT last year. Hope he’s learned his lesson and we see a resurgence as he’s still in ABs. Highlander has been writing about AB loosies for yonks so no point repeating Fozzie’s mistakes here.

Ngatai like Piutau was another missed moment.

This is a great comment, Adam. The other issue is that after Hansen’s success, Foster just doesn’t have it to find his own way and is still following his predecessor’s instincts even when they were wrong in the latter part of his career. But this is also the poetic justice of decline when there’s been great success. Foster will ‘fail’ relative to past ABs sucsess and that’s when NZR will wake up to what he wrought.

So, players from commercially superior rugby countries would come out to Oz to boost a new tryo competition? I really want some of what you took before you wrote this.

McLennan's Australia-based Super Rugby competition could be a winner

This is a result of seeing an all Kiwi Final.

You dont even have a market for so-called English born Australians and now you come up with these pipe dreams for an expanded comp?

And where are these elite expat teams at present? 😂

Thanks West. I think they got a bit complacent. Only one tean seemed to realise that this was a final. Chiefs or Canes would have done better. There’s no way they would have sat and taken such play for an hour. It was unreal especially the first half. BBB brought a lot to Blues but here they were shown up to still be the rabble of old. They missed Dalton’s mongrel and leadership but in the heat of battle Perofeta, Christie, TVS were shown up and still have a long ways to go … the Saders forward took the game from minute 1 and never let up.

REACTION: 'A complete performance'- Crusaders dominate Blues to take Super Rugby Pacific crown

Where is Jacko to tell us that Mounga was behind dominant forward pack and BBB was excellent.

Tx Highlander, I came here looking for your comment

Not if they play like they did the Ponies.

The Wrap: Did Super Rugby end up with the right teams in the final?

Good stuff Highlander

This is who the All Blacks should pick for the first Ireland Test

While 3-0 is possible I think they’ll be one game that will be very close.

Taniela does very little against NZ sides lol.

But JB’s kicking game which is crucial at Test level keeps him in. WJ starts at some point at FB. Fozzie keeping him on wing till he gets experience very much like what Hansen did with Bender in the ABs years ago …

Yes, Canes are no 4 but they can beat any of the other NZ teams on a one off so not really a no 4. The NZ comp ranking are about consistency not team strength. In Aus Reds and Brumbies are superior.

Brumbies will be. They will win at least 2 games against NZ sides.

Other than TT but watch how he bullies Aussie teams and what happens to him against NZ sides. Blues owned him all game last season. Brumbies the only team that can roll with NZ sides. But also remember how Canes beat Blues even if they are the 4th NZ side. They can beat anyone on their day. I see Blues, Canes and Saders sweeping Aussie sides. The Clan losing to Ponies and another side. Chiefs losing one game noone expects.

Apart from TT Reds defo a team on the smaller side.

The Clan forwards have always punched above their weigh through a few key players and they’ve lost that this sseason. That’s the difference. I need to rewatch the Blues vs Saders game. I feel that this was a game that the Saders would have won a year ago and Blues lost. RC helped Blues obviously. BBB has been the greatest difference to the Blues wobbles. Oh and that man, Schmidt. Ruck speed incredible. But also focus.

Is this the beginning of the end of the Crusaders?
