I don’t think the personal milestones you mentioned for Geelong will even come into the calculations. It’s a grand final….. no more motivation required.

2020 AFL grand final: The ultimate preview

Yeah, agree…. Richmond v Geelong grand final in Brisbane, only happened because it’s all an AFL conspiracy, determined to have a Victorian team in every grand final. 😂

AFL Trades: Jeremy Cameron to Geelong will be a history-maker

Really hope he plays. Want the best from both sides out there, and want a brutal, close match that will go down as one of the more memorable grand finals (with a tigers win of course) 😊

Geelong's recent record against Richmond is poor, so how can they turn it around on Saturday?

Agree, Saturday night becomes even more important now (not that it wasn’t important already). If the tigers can snare that 3rd premiership, I can certainly sit back contented for a few years if the cats do dominate.

Jeremy Cameron wants out of the Giants

This is huge for the Cats. With a number of low draft picks to complement the list, this could well be the beginning of a new Geelong dynasty. Good luck to any other up and coming club for the next few years.

Tigers were also missing Edwards, Prestia, Astbury and Broad, so some handy ins for them too. Soldo would have been handy, but having 21 of your best 22 is pretty good.

Five talking points from the AFL preliminary finals

Agree with Realist Pete. Admire your objective writing and would be worthy of an article about the enigma that is Richmond.

Lambert's last-quarter strikes put Tigers into the decider

Because you were probably barracking for Port. In reality, the umpires are trying to adjudicate the best they can to give themselves a chance to get the job next week. (Unless of course, you believe in conspiracy theories)

Lambert's last-quarter strikes put Tigers into the decider

Win or lose, very proud of the tigers to have made it this far. Just passed 100 days away from home, have gone a whole season without 1 true home ground advantage game (against a visiting team), have had more intense scrutiny (perhaps deservedly), then any other club and have had to deal with the overwhelming will from neutral supporters to fail.
Will need all their resilience to get through this Friday night against the best team this year and an extremely hostile Port Adelaide crowd.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Preliminary finals

He’s already started on Richmond ahead of the Port game. Practically stating that the tigers are the evil empire who he hates watching. Certainly trying to stir up the Port supporters even more for their home ground game on Friday.

Kane Cornes has another go at 'arrogant' Pies after semi-final thrashing

Congratulations to the tigers on making 4 consecutive preliminary finals. A solid performance by the club in an 18 team competition.

Tiger train gets rolling again as Richmond roll St Kilda

Expecting the tigers to win comfortably. If they can’t get over the Saints, they don’t deserve to be there. Back in round 4 when the Saints saluted, Richmond’s mindset was very different.

AFL semi-final forecast: Richmond vs St Kilda

No, he needs to be with his partner.
The obvious reason is that it’s one of the best moments of your life that you can share with your partner (and later on with your child).
The second reason is that if something were to go wrong with the delivery, you would have to live with the fact that you chose not to be there for support.

Saints' Carlisle to miss AFL finals for birth of child

Saints/Dogs game at the Gabba. Low attendance could explain the ‘country game feel’.

The mystery of AFL finals fixturing

Exactly, it’s a very unique season, where 2 sides from Melbourne are playing a final in Queensland. Doubt very much that it would even approach a sell out, so the argument about maximising crowd numbers is irrelevant. All sides have been given a choice to nominate their ‘home’ ground (within Covid practicalities), if they qualify highest.

The mystery of AFL finals fixturing

Agree Pete, getting sick of the BS inane ‘comments’ that are flooding this site of late. Like a virus that is adding nothing to the conversation.

Magpies win thrilling elimination final over West Coast

Yes Pete, nothing comes close now to that feeling when the siren sounded to end the 2017 grand final. 2019 was great, but not as great. Of course I will be hoping the tigers salute again this year, but I’m a lot more relaxed now going into finals and just enjoy each contest. I think that’s why I was a little disappointed not seeing us match it with the pies last year instead of GWS.
So yes, I’m just not as worried, rather then being confident. (if that makes sense).

Richmond versus the field: Can anyone topple the Tigers in finals?

So if the tigers win the flag this year Don, would that mean your argument is flawed, and would you just accept that the tigers are actually pretty good?

Richmond versus the field: Can anyone topple the Tigers in finals?

As a tiger supporter, just thankful that we’re playing Brisbane and not Freo in the first final. 😛

Richmond versus the field: Can anyone topple the Tigers in finals?

They were cooked at the end of 2018, after carrying good form for the duration of the early and middle parts of the home and away season. Learned a valuable lesson from that experience, to time your run coming into finals.

Richmond versus the field: Can anyone topple the Tigers in finals?

Anyone can still win it. In 2017, the tigers first became premiership favourites at the 20 minute mark of the 3rd quarter of the grand final.

Graham to now stay a tiger. Has just agreed to terms.

Out of favour: More players who will be at new clubs next year

Chol to probably stay at the tigers with Soldo now out for 2021.

Only 1 player from the tigers. A great sign of a very well balanced team. (with emphasis on the word team).

Patrick Dangerfield named captain of All Australian side

Brisbane somewhat reminds me of the tigers from 2017. Faced Geelong in a qualifying final, who they hadn’t beaten in a long time, so had to overcome 2 hoodoos, the other being to just win an elusive final. That win gave the tigers the confidence that they could go all the way.
I think if Brisbane can get that breakthrough win against the tigers, they can also grab the flag.
