Wouldn’t be opposed to Gus starting at all, he is the best choice at LHP as I’ve continually stated 👍

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

Yes the tight five is the big concern, and whether WB will get enough first phase to play a game. Arundell could tear it up if he gets a shot later on…

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

Where is it N?

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

England team as predicted, but with Nowell in for May (Covid).

As you can see from my picks, at that time the article was written I thought Taniela and Holloway might be available, but they aren’t sadly. Tipping point along with Neville in for Philip.
For example, Holloway to start with Philip and Swain gives you plenty of lineout to work with. Bell-Porecki-Tupou off the bench gives you real impact compared to Sio-Fainga’a-Slipper.

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

If you have Swain calling the lineout, I think it makes sense to go all-in and start Folau at 2. But you are right, the basic problem is that there are not many good options.

Sure it does 😂

Look at it in terms of lineout caps Obs.

George + Itoje + Lawes = over 200 England caps and 9 Lions Tests.
Porecki + Neville + Swain = 10 caps with two Test debutants.

I hope the WBs survive, but the odds are against it.

Get on that rocking chair Chook! 😂

Let’s find out Bob. Experience at this level counts for a lot.
George/Maro/Lawes is 200 England caps v all of 10 shared between Porecki, Swain and Neville. Good luck with that. 👍

I felt Matt Philip is essential, Folau starting rake, Jordie too at the back.

It is hard to question any of the strategic decisions made by the French management team since Ibanez, Galthie and Edwards came on board. They have been pitch-perfect so far…

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

Wrong. There is a danger of men v boys in the second row too – they are playing v B & I Lions at 4,5 and 6 in the pack.

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

If something positive is to come out of the first game (other than a WB win ofc!) it may be a more realistic appraisal of the Brumbies tight five Jez.

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

Yes I feel that is accurate Jez. He has the will and the effort, but the engine is sitting in an average chassis atm!

I am def not boarding this selection train Bob 😁

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

I worry Peter.

Genge-George-Stuart (better scrummager than Kyle) starting, maybe Mako-LCD-Heyes finishing in the front row could be far too much at the scrums for the two WB units selected.

Maro/Lawes/Hill/Isiekwe are all accomplished lineout/maul operators behind them.

That group includes six B & I Lions overall, it is more experienced, versatile and knowledgeable at Test level than the WBs opposite them.

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

Swain/Neville v Maro/Hill or Lawes Jez? Let’s see. I fear there could be some uncomfortable home truths about to be aired about the set-piece strength of the Brumbies forwards v a NH tight five… Would be delighted to be proved wrong however!

WALLABIES TEAM: JOC, Tate left OUT of 23 in Rennie's Reds purge, Neville and Porecki to debut as Brumbies dominate

England still have a an awful lot of scrummaging nous as they showed against Ireland. They always will have that with Jamie George at the heart of the set-piece. I will also add that Will Stuart is perceived as a slightly stronger scrummager than Kyle Sinckler on the tight-head. Things may get even worse when the bench F/R’s come on, with Mako, LCD and prob Joe Heyes. They are big experienced units against a patchwork WB bench.

A lot will depend on how Swain calls v Maro at lineout time if the WBs are to get any launch ball.

In a nutshell M, I am trying to work out how the WBs will win with the team selected!

Good luck with that tight five Bob, you will need it! 🏉

That would certainly tell you something if it is true Bodge! 😂

It’s an odd-looking forward pack, heavy at 4-6, light at the front!

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

It looks like it will be up to Angus to carry ball now Numps, nobody else in the front five can do it! I fear for the WB tight five forwards in Perth.

It's time for the Wallabies to front up against ancient foes, and this is how they should do it

Yes it is now they have come out with Swain and Neville. England will attack the set-pieces, big time, and Aussie could spend a lot of time in their own half of the field.
