Yeah the shot to the back of the head was unfortunate. He was putting him away anyway and it wouldn’t have changed the result but he needs to be more disciplined than that

Tai is gonna be feeling those body kicks for weeks. Brutal.

What a masterpiece from Rob! I expected Vettori to try more takedowns but maybe the ease that Rob turned them away put him off. I’ll be cheering for Alex against the champ

Yeah he gave it everything but just didn’t have enough in him. Great effort though!

Hunt would be a great addition next to Burton. The squad has lacked direction at that position for years and Hunt would add experience and a genuine (and much needed) attacking threat.

Building around Sullivan would be a mistake in my eyes. He is largely untested at that level and who at the club would mentor him?

Round 25 Preview Questions: Sick of ‘rugby wars’ already? Storm to change their ways? Should Dogs hunt Ben?

The cycle of love and hate in league is fascinating, isn’t it?

A couple of years ago, the Panthers rise to power was exciting and fresh. Similarly, it wasn’t long ago that the Sharks were still suffering the lasting impacts of the supplements scandal. Fast forward to now and the sentiment has mostly done a 180 degree turn.

They say winning fixes a lot of things, but if you want to stay loved by NRL fans… just don’t win too much!

So for us neutrals, who is the most bearable NRL premiership winner?

I’d argue he captured it perfectly.
Any nuance you are referring to is a completely separate discussion as to their responsibilities as professionals. You don’t get to decide on a week to week basis whether you feel like putting the jersey on.

Have a problem with the club’s values and beliefs? Fine. Ask for a release. But until then, honour the contract you signed.

Amateur hour: Fans deserve better than watching supposedly professional NRL teams give up

Fair point about Izzy. You could argue though (and plenty have) that Whitaker did enough to win the fight. Whether you agree with that or not, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that he could beat Izzy if he can work his way back there.

I think he might be undersized at LHW. He used to fight at Welterweight. Don’t know how he would handle the power up with the bigger boys

What's next for Robert Whittaker after UFC 271?

I think the observation about atmosphere is possibly the most valid reason for the change (aside from commercial benefits to the NRL). As a fan of basketball and NRL, I can say that the quarters do a better job of building atmosphere and a sense of urgency as there is always an impending break. I’m happy with the halves but can see the benefits.

Does rugby league’s future lie in four 20-minute quarters?
