Big A,
These events create tourism. This creates income to invest the items, numerous, as they are.
The government is screwed for money, but sport is an investment.
Get set for a huge decade of world sport in our own backyard
Couldn’t agree more.
A pest, probably, but a master of the Refs, much in the same vain as Fitzpatrick
George Gregan: The chosen one
Great article Avatar.
Can’t wait for everyone of these events. It’s surely a shot in the arm for Australia to have such wonderful events.
The political scene is a mess, but it seems they’re getting a good result for money generating sporting events

Thanks Madkiwi.
I don’t mind creating talking points if I can.
Just topics I think should be discussed and get feedback on
Private equity in Australian rugby union? The answer is simple
Agreed LuckyPhil.
Unsure how to do it though, but do you think we need the PE?
Private equity in Australian rugby union? The answer is simple
Thanks Jeznez,
Yeah I agree. I just think that if broadcasting can improve it should be better for the game.
I’m just a passionate fan though mate and I think the game itself is fine
Private equity in Australian rugby union? The answer is simple
I love the scrum Mirt, and I’m a back (built like a front rower these days though
Private equity in Australian rugby union? The answer is simple
No I don’t Jacko unfortunately.
I have spoken to people with knowledge of the arrangements and they have given me some information.
Everyone’s concern is obviously the exit strategies from the PE’s globally.
I’m unsure how that all works, but if the investment could create a 20% growth, than just maybe it’s worthwhile
Private equity in Australian rugby union? The answer is simple
Thanks mate,
Yes it concerns me as well, but I don’t think there’s a choice anymore, unfortunately.
It reminds me of Bill Pulver’s comment some years back about not giving money to Premier Rugby because “they’ll piss up against a brick wall”.
I think the only ones doing that were Rugby Australia (previously ARU).
My hope would be that PE might control that spend and direct it to promoting the game.
More eyeballs, surely means more money.
I do think the product of Rugby is good though

Great read indeed.
He just seems to enjoy the role and the team. He just keeps everything in perspective so well

Couldn’t agree more Jezdexter, a team is only as good as their last week.
There are massive challenges next.
I reckon 2 wins would be a result as long as the others are competitive

Next week in NZ is massive for the Brumbies. I think they can win

Not at all about QLD Malbreakaway.
Simply that the Refs were the raining Super Rugby AU champs.
The Brumbies are the benchmark for sure.
If anything it’s about how the Refs have dropped off
Australian Super Rugby teams are showing they're up for the fight
Thanks Mad Kiwi,
Yes there is certainly talent and the NRL have taken a lot as well.
It is difficult to keep them in Australia, but if we can 3 teams can definitely be competitive and 4 if we can get the right coaching in place.
For the record, I believe we have some good coaches as well, but they’re all off shore unfortunately.
After one week of trans-Tasman rugby, the Aussies are doing better than expected
Stan Sport just went to air getting ready for the Reds Rebels game.
Apparently Drew Mitchell stuffed up the races last week.
Hilarious
What can Rugby Australia do to retain talent?
Yes Jim,
Many countries have squandered this opportunity, but not Australia. Each event has created economic growth and also contributed infrastructure where others have failed.
I know it sounds strange mate, but $200m as a hand out versus $200m in infrastructure and jobs is longer term investment
