I’ve been quite entertained by the Eagles and the calls for Simpson to go, especially by fans of clubs sitting 0-3. I think he will not make out the season if the blow out losses continue. Suggestions that he has lost the players are probably off the mark. The Eagles have been running out their games. The effort is there (compared to previous seasons). They just aren’t very good from a skills/tactics perspective. Turnovers in the middle of the ground are killing us (we actually had similar turnover nos to GWS – it was just here they. Mind you if every skill error is a sign of a coach losing their players, there are a few teams with that issue.
Six Points: Papley's hypocrisy, Wright's Tribunal verdict the wrong call, and why are we retiring Pendlebury?
Well $10 per head so he’s not wrong.
Tradition comes up trumps: Why the Tasmania Devils are perfect for the AFL
It’s billed as “YOUR LOCAL, FRIENDLY SHOPPING DESTINATION IN THE HEART OF KARDINYA!” (Caps theirs). Now to be fair, if one can’t bring oneself to admit a misplaced grudge against Matt Stevic for a certain grand final performance, good luck getting a spelling error corrected.
'Dripping in inequality and stupidity': Footy is back... and so is AFL interference
We are totally on track – Richmond Eagles GF. Book your flights ;). I’ll have what you’re smoking.
Six Points: Meet the AFL's dumbest team, and the most ridiculous ban in MRO history
Your point, like so much hot air, has been repeated ad nauseam. I’m sure it could be written about any club propping up the ladder for any prolonged period of time, albeit most people are classy enough not to kick someone when they’re down. Of course, if it soothes your ego to make it again, do whatever floats your boat. If you think a club that wins flags every 8 years is a blight on the competition after two bad seasons, one has to wonder who is the partisan fan here. I haven’t made any personal attacks here – if you’re sensitive about me pointing out the inconsistencies in your argument, that is not my problem. We’re going around in circles here much like our clubs – not sure this discussion is going anywhere so have a good one.

If you’re just going to persist with a factless diatribe, don’t be surprised if you’re ignored. Somehow having one of the youngest lists in the competition is “hanging on to players who should be in the retirement village”. As I have said previously on a few occasions – Simpson is here due to soft cap issues and is unlikely to last the season. The list has some deadwood that needs to be cleared. Changing the backroom staff is a step along the way – I note Richmond made similar moves before their recent success, in/around the time they contrived to lose a finals game to a 9th placed team. Finally, It’s hilarious that you brought up 1992 given we’ve won 4 flags in the intervening 32 years. I know of teams who’ve had a longer dry spell.

I would have thought the Richmond fans being strangely fixated on West Coast were engaging in some deflection. The proof is in the pudding – didnt Dimma get booed last week? I have repeatedly and recently said that the Eagles are in for some difficult seasons with a need to turnover the list. You’re more than welcome to look at my comment history – I even said it right below. If you want to accuse people of being partisan, you might as well bring some evidence, and a mirror. Everyone thinks their list has a core of talented youth – if you take some time to reflect you might realise you are sounding like your favourite Freo fan. Finally – we belted you in 2018 in the only game we played. Fantasising about what might have happened if you’d been able to control a journeyman American sounds desperate and partisan. Bless.

I think North have probably had sufficient assistance. What they did with their plethora of draft picks is really a matter for them.

Right – so a team which basically went from being the 9th to the 16th oldest list in the competition in one season, along with making various backroom changes, is apparently “stuck in the past”. I also should not have to explain this to you.

I agree. Simpson won’t last the year. I think Pyke is just giving himself a few months to settle in before making some needed drastic changes. Doesn’t change the list condition though – a few too many deadwood players (Sheed, Gaff, Darling) and some list cloggers that need moving on (Duggan, Cole, Petrucelli, Witherden, Waterman). The youngsters just look too callow at this stage, though I think Reid, Ginbey, Hewett and Hough will become handy players. They’ll have to build the list around Allen, Kelly and Barrass going forward.

I need all the bliss on tap after last weekend’s game.

In a sign of how bad things are, I got offered a membership after only waiting since 2019 for one. Time to fold the club.

Apologies Yattz for mentioning the war. I thought I got away with it. Some fans from a certain club have hilariously short memories. Don’t get me wrong – the Eagles look like a basketcase now but the only way is up (from the bottom of the ladder). I’m pretty sure I won’t have to wait 3 decades for another premiership ;). Geelong look pretty good again- like Sydney, just regularly consistent. Where do you find these hairbanded Vikings from?
Six Points: Meet the AFL's dumbest team, and the most ridiculous ban in MRO history
I think Richmond fans are pretty salty over 2018. The fixation on the Eagles is pretty weird given their team looks to be on a similar trajectory (hello injury prone vets, multi-pick trades for mature players and the injury curse). At least our premiership coach didn’t head off like a rat of a sinking ship.

Hilarious. Well I was surprised when Dimma did a Horne Francis and went to a team with a better list. Good thing Reid has a 3 year contract which you might have noticed if you kept up to date. Also, who won the premiership in 1992? If you’re going to copy and paste a rant you might as well do some fact-checking. Bless.

Largely agree – trading without consent works in the EPL due to the large salaries involved, plus it goes both ways with players being able to leave for free at the end of their contract (Bosman ruling). Re multiple pick trades – if clubs stuff up they can just ask for priority picks and trade those on 😉

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying the Tigers are a basket case. I’m just questioning the criteria by which teams are considered basket cases by some who appear to have a glass jaw.
Footy Fix: The Tigers aren't any good... but you have to admire their Phar Lap-sized hearts
Well one of us is a realist. The team which wins a flag every 8 years is a basket case compared to one which managed 3+ decades without one (feel free to quote me on this in 3 decades). Enjoy your season, but if you can’t take civil comments about your team without responding with civility, it might be a long one for you – i hope your internet stays connected this year.
Footy Fix: The Tigers aren't any good... but you have to admire their Phar Lap-sized hearts
I alluded to it last year, and I’ll say it again – Richmond remind me of West Coast in 2021-2022. Reliance on aging stalwarts, combined with an incoming injury toll and some unproven but promising youngsters. Hopefully the wheels don’t fall off that quickly. They showed a lot of heart and didn’t give up to the end – those are the things you can’t replace.

Weird article – Luke Jackson may not be Wayne Carey, but I think he’ll be pretty handy up front. They should kick enough goals from Amiss + Treacy/Taberner + their smalls. It will be a question of (1) mids hitting targets inside 50, and (2) whether the ball movement is quick enough from the back half meaning the opposition doesn’t get a chance to set up defensively.
The need to fix Freo's scoring woes before another season slips by: Can the Dockers kick enough goals in 2024?
Hilariously yes. A grudge against Matt Stevic was long held by Don for his alleged “performance” in a GF involving Freo.
Green stands tall with breakthrough ton while wickets tumble as Aussies crumble against Black Caps pace attack
A reasonably switched-on person would be able to distinguish between criticism of Green, and mockery of those who consider him the unblemished messiah. Perhaps we need better funding for public schools to improve teaching in literacy.

Got to love the sanctimony from someone who regularly berates people on this site while peddling alternative facts. A goose would be someone who bears a public grudge against an umpire for an AFL Grand Final said umpire didn’t adjudicate in, and then refusing to back down after that fact was pointed out to him.
Some people are shameless.

I just stick to the facts Don. Most viewers expect their commentators to give analysis based on things that actually happened. Also, whatever happened to not getting personal? I hope your account doesn’t get suspended again…

Yes – Gaff is cooked. For Darling, he’s just there to take a KPD while Allen is out so Maric, Waterman and Williams can have some space. With the quality of our forward entries though, we could have Franklin, Kennedy and Brown down there and…
