With Duggan. Reid can play half back.

Six Points: Why Dogs' disaster isn't all Bevo's fault, Eagles on their way, and 2024's biggest beat-up

I was saying to my wife that while he’s less athletically gifted than our last excitement machine (Nic Nat) the footy smarts and grit more than make up for it. He got caught htb early by Baker when the Tigers were in the lead but just kept playing his way rather than wilting.

All I can say is thank goodness North were cheapskates when making an offer for Pick 1…

None of that 6-12 business for either team. Bottom out and rise up.

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 5: Are we sleeping on the Cats, Will West Coast's pain continue and How good are the Dees' forwards?

If you’re referring to “Richmond taking on a depleted West Coast side” – I’m not sure how that confers the alleged imputation. After all, your colleague made a very similar statement in reverse which seems to have flown through the keeper: “The Eagles get a free hit this week end against Richmond. Questions would really have to be asked if they can’t beat an injury ravaged Richmond at home”. I mean really – a team that has won ~5 games in ~50 as the favourites?

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 5: Are we sleeping on the Cats, Will West Coast's pain continue and How good are the Dees' forwards?

Was I the one who originally said West Coast would be disappointed if they didn’t win? You might need to check out the other thread started by your colleague.

Questions to ponder ahead of Round 5: Are we sleeping on the Cats, Will West Coast's pain continue and How good are the Dees' forwards?

We are. I watched a few Richmond games last year. I rate Gibcus and Ryan. They take the game on. Yes Ryan’s untidy but you want risk takers. Likewise I love watching Reid at clearances, Ginbey tackling like a madman and Hough shutting down the opposition’s best small (kept Papley quiet last week). Small wins

It’s only about gametime for the kids for me too. But apparently West Coast should care about results while Richmond shouldn’t? How does that make sense?

The Don speaks for himself. I don’t know Richmond’s list well enough to make a comment on how significant those outs are. However I know my list well enough to know that Allen, Ryan, Flynn, Sheed are crucial cogs and Hewett and Culley are excellent prospects who would be playing if fit. At least I have the honesty to admit when an oppo fan (unsurprisingly) knows his list better than me – you didnt even know Ryan wasn’t retired. And as an aside, it is great to watch the promising Eagles kids play each week.

Well why should anyone take what you say seriously if you thought Liam Ryan was retired.
If as you say he wouldnt make your best 22 then your list must be better and thus be strong favourites – you cant twist your way out of this one. Most expect Richmond to win. That seems to be the common tip this week amongst commentators and punters alike (gamble responsibly). Shooting from the hip? Or by most do you mean you and the Ghost? The irony of course is that if I said I didn’t care about the result as long as the kids got a run out, you’d probably accuse me of cowardice.

To be fair I hadn’t seen the preliminary list when I made the comment. In a similar vein, are you going to parrot the “Reid to Victoria” line until he retires a West Coast great?

I didn’t raise injuries initially – if you look at timestamps you will note it starts with a nice opening salvo by the Ghost in another thread.

Mea culpa – I wasn’t aware of the preliminary squad announcement when the comment was made. I
The point still stands – surely Richmond’s allegedly vastly superior list (ie their top 30 players, excluding the 8 you include) should easily dispose of a team whose list you all describe as a blight. Can’t have your cake and eat it.
It also goes without saying that Liam Ryan and Jai Culley, and Hewett are also in our best 22. That still makes 5, and in a list you all deride, are significant outs.
Finally a word for you Realist – the irony of you accusing others of shooting from the hip is clearly lost on you.

If you say so Sam. We’ll see in 3 years.

I mean sure, Harley told the papers the jumper grab was “just to show that I’m staying around to hopefully bring this club to what it should be”, just like he said repeatedly before the draft that he was happy to go to West Coast. But of course McClure (and his Ghost) know best.

More like Richmond taking on a depleted West Coast missing Allen, Ryan, Sheed, Culley, Edwards, Maric etc. Some of the narrative here gives me the impression people are looking for jobs with Trump’s Republican party

Keep saying it if it makes you feel better.

We’ve played Port away, Gws and then Sydney away. Not sure our draw befits a side which had the no 1 pick.

Well as you know some coaches are famed for their “loyalty” on and off the pitch.

Sorry the only one who’s making pre-emptive excuses here seems to be you. I never thought you’d refer to a Richmond game as a free kick. All to make a partisan point. Allen will end up having a pretty good career. He even kicked 56 goals last year in a pretty terrible side. The best part about it is we drafted and recruited him.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Round 5: After a weekend of 9s, can our experts back it up?

Questions need to be asked if Richmond, a team apparently well ahead in its rebuild, cant beat a West Coast team missing our best key forward, small forward, ruck, and several midfielders. I thought you said West Coast games were a free hit for the opposition? Re Reid – are you Sam McLure in disguise?
Here’s a prediction that will come true – if West Coast lose, I’m sure you’ll be all over it.

Don’t complain – imagine how much of West Coast’s salary has been tied up in Naitanui, Schuey, Yeo, McGovern and Sheed over the last few years – I’d be surprised if they’ve played 1/2 of all available games.

Shh! The opposition fans who rag on the Eagles weekly might find out our ploy. On an unrelated note, I’m not sure why the Tiger’s song is deemed so meh…
