I don’t think Sky would like to become a world feed, they’d start haemorrhaging subscribers who’d just go online. Thats Why Fox Sports got exclusive Sky Coverage, because there is no way they would let their product be available on Ten. I’d expect a basic feed for online, just from the start of the FOM world feed with some of the Channel 4 team. They’ll cover just the session, no pre or post.
Formula One on pay TV doesn’t have to be a disaster — but it probably will be
Only commercial reason for Formula 1 not to stream through Formula1.com is because TV Companies tend to overspend on their rights. Sky has got nowhere near enough back from F1 for it to be worth it, but continue to throw more money at it to stave off rivals BT Sport. F1 is the real winner commercially there. Thats why I see them going through a third party.
Formula One on pay TV doesn’t have to be a disaster — but it probably will be
I’m hoping the words ‘exclusive rights’ only applied to TV. James Allen said that F1 has the tech ready for live streaming, they just seem to be waiting for Bernie to kick the bucket or for new buyers to shake things up. Personally i would like to see a streaming service like Netflix or YouTube take up the rights, but i can only dream…

I’m not asking F1 fans to put up with 10’s coverage. I’m saying that the avenue should be there for casual fans who turn on the telly and stumble upon the Grand Prix. FTA networks are losing cash quick, so its not surprising 10 uses the event for cross promoting. James Allen, Mark Webber and Mark Larkham were actually pretty good as well. 10 doesn’t expect everyone to tune in all day anyway, thats why they put the cross-promotion there. And Alan Jones wasn’t in the commbox for the race, thank god. Its not the only coverage either, Fox Sports has the sky coverage, and for the motorsport fan pretty much everything else.
What does Sky's exclusive F1 rights mean for Australia?
You forgot Graham Rahal, 2 wins last year and 4th in the championship. Did very well for a one car team.
2016 IndyCar Series preview: Championship contenders
Agree with your points Andrew. There was some farcical stewarding, especially concerning turn 9. Should’ve been dealt with in the race. What Green flag running we did see was excellent, and very happy for LDM, even if in my opinion regulations screwed over Lowndes and McLaughlin.
All in all though, Championship is very interesting. Nissan seems to have some space, Ford are struggling for Race Pace after good one lap speed. A nissan is leading the drivers. All very exciting for this year!

15 minute Quali and Top 10 Shootout. Simple.
Qualifying changes won't distract from F1's bigger problems
Formula 1 has always been a battle between the rule makers and the designers. And is all the better for it.
If you're not cheating, then somebody else is
We’re in the slippery slope to customer cars at the moment. Not that I have a problem with them, I think that teams should be able to use customer cars in their first few years to establish themselves. Maybe, like a junior driver program we need a junior team program to help teams into the sport

Pull back the regs, set a size, engine and shape of the car, let the teams go berserk, then pull them back as necessary with balance of performance regulations GT3 style.
Is the car overpowering the driver?
And just when cricket looks at introducing a card system, Wahab Riaz generously gives us a reason to.
Cricketers should be automatically suspended for intentional contact
Yes it’ll be interesting to see which direction V8 Supercars takes. Hybrids could be a step too far cost wise, but i wouldn’t be surprised if the V8 decreases to a V6 Turbo on all cars, if not a couple of V4s. The other question is whether the family sedan is around in a couple of years as well, its being killed by the “mid-size” car and the hatchback, although i can’t see something like a focus at the mountain…
What does V8 Supercars do if Gen2 fails?
Australia has its own GT Championship (The Appropriately named Australia GT Championship) which runs as a support race for the V8 supercars at Adelaide, Phillip Island, Townsville, Eastern Creek, Sandown, with a final round at Highlands in New Zealand. They also compete in Bathurst 12 as well.
Personally I think GT3 would be more interesting that DTM, the cars have more variety and proper engines too, but i can see the potential in a link up.
What does V8 Supercars do if Gen2 fails?
Our selectors keep ignoring the format. Its been 10 years since T20 cricket arrived in the country and nothing has changed. On one hand we set up the BBL as a home grown tournament so we have T20 talent but on the other hand the best players don’t play in it and Aus considers a bilateral one day series that literally no-one cares about (we were forced to play for Chappell Hadlee in the world cup and champions trophy) more important than T20 cricket in the year of the world championship, which we still haven’t won. If test and one day cricket does go the way of the dodo, we could be left behind in the T20 world and end up at the bottom of the ladder.
Australia should blame selectors for their T20 defeats
I was referring mainly to the refuelling era of the mid 2000s.
An autopsy of Formula One's failed 2017 regulations
Steve Smith started out as a leg spinner in the aussie team, and james hopes was captain until this season at the Qld Bulls. It seems though, that selectors think that in the middle of a collapse a batting captain can make more difference than a bowling captain can if his team are being smashed around the place
Bowling captains: Why the game of cricket views them as outcasts
This year’s rendition of the Big Bash has been fantastic. Its been unpredictable, and I honestly think you can’t pick a favourite. All the form guides arguably goes out the window next week when the one dayers start. I’m not going to bother predicting, given the way this tournament has gone, I’ll get it completely wrong
With half the season gone, who wins BBL05?

If associate nations are going to show up and get flogged, they won’t stick around for seconds. The ICC don’t need the Olympics to be the pinnacle of cricket (They won’t get any cash out of it for one). They need it to increase the popularity of cricket in smaller nations, and if one of them takes down a giant, it will give cricket a massive boost there. Let the smaller nations have their fun at the Olympics. The real pinnacle will always be Test Cricket / The World Cup. This won’t replace it, rather, give a glimpse to the rest of the world of what Cricket is. Its really a promotional event 🙂
Why cricket needs to be part of the Olympics
