St George is in my blood, hell, I even bank with St George. Played League for 40 years (bit of grade), love the game. Had a couple of fights and love boxing. Best figures 6/5 and love cricket. Was into F1, not so much these days.

I’m a die-hard St George supporter, however, i don’t think it’s fickle to have secondary favourites, in fact it’s unavoidable if you love the game to feel a slighter affection for other teams as much as you have an inherent dislike for Manly, sorry, slip of the tongue, I meant to say; some other teams. It comes in handy if your your team is in a hopeless position at the pointy end of the season and helps keep the flames flickering even if not quite as brightly. It’s an insurance policy to keep you connected if your team pulled the plug.

Is it wrong to support more than one club?

One would expect they would want the fact they you are doing well to overshadow any perceived shortcomings, but as a club i don’t expect they are aware of any ‘shortcomings’ nor live with the expectation of the wheels falling off. I’m not sure what the headline means. I understand that they shouldn’t get ahead of themselves or allow complacency to set in which can be the shortcoming you inherit with exceeding expectation. If it’s the shortcomings of others from previous years as your article opens up with that you’re referring too, then i think i know what you were trying to say.

Roosters mustn't let Premiership favouritism overshadow shortcomings

I think at the very least there should have been a psychiatric appraisal conducted.
This is not the actions of someone without underlying issues.

The possibility of mitigating circumstances should always be examined when handing out punishment in the name of fairness and compassion.

I do not agree with with what he has done, nor should he escape fair punishment, but taking this young boys future away over stupidity and greed seems political, callous and highly irresponsible.

We truly do live in a time of ‘auto-outrage’ and that presents a wonderful opportunity for political point scoring.

The punishment does not fit the crime, even if there are no underlying psychiatric issues – that i doubt.

I hope they are keeping a close on on this young man.

Tim Simona deserves the NRL's care, but he won't play footy again

Agreed. That same thought passed my mind, it could get worse for him. I think at the very least there should have been a psychiatric appraisal conducted. This is not the actions of someone without underlying issues. Possible mitigating circumstances should always examined be considered in the name of fairness and compassion. I do not agree with taking this young boys future away over stupidity and greed. This decision seems political and irresponsible.

“The underlying thing is how can he be depressed on $325k per annum”.You obviously have no clue about depression. Sure, not having money can lead to depression, but having money does not make you immune to mental illness.

G’Day Tom and thanks for the welcome and positive comments. I’m not sure Mary will survive, that said, it all hinges on the first 5 rounds I think. It’s either complete redemption or it’s over for him. Anything less than Saints demonstrating a fresh, lively attack will not do. The dragons have a good pack on paper but i know how frustrating it is for the piggies to aim up game after game and not have that good grind turned into points out wide, the knock on effect is that it seems pointless after a while and can be demotivating across the park.
Like everything, time will tell and i won’t mind being wrong on this occasion, I’d predict 10th/11th.

Only with imagination can the Dragons fly

Yes mate, I had referred to the charity Shield game but The Roar team edited some bits out; the best ones actually :). I’m feelin’ ya, (Metaphorically speaking), that’s the way i saw it. I was hoping for hope mate. Not to be, it seems they just can’t adapt. Looks like another looooooooong season buddy.

Only with imagination can the Dragons fly

The meaning of insanity is; ‘doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result’. Well, watching the Charity Shield last week I couldn’t help but feel that not much has changed in the way the Dragons will attack this season. They are failing to mix it up, they are one dimensional with very few bodies in motion, ordinary patterns and structure. To hear Dugan is restless sets just the type of atmosphere the Dragons don’t need in the lead up to what already presents as a testing season. I can’t help but think that part of that $6 mil should have gone towards new coaching staff. When will they learn? Right now the Dragons are playing ad-lib without the talent to pull it off. They need a plan, and they need it quickly!
