Great team. I’m biased but Charles Piutau also had a great world cup, especially in a team that was going backwards for most of the group stages.

@Inman. Yes and no in my opinion. 11.7 says it is a penalty only “if playing the ball prevented an opponent from gaining an advantage”. So the question is, did Owens’ playing the ball prevent the all blacks from gaining an advantage. For me this is debatable – take for example this situation: 10 passes to 12 12 knocks it on, 13 dives on it. Normally in such a situation the re would just bring play back for the scrum. I think you can look at poite’s penalty in the same way.

About your first point, well the Australian players were probably asked by the media ‘what are your thoughts on the new coach?’ So what are they supposed to say? They’re pretty much stuck saying ‘yeah we’re really excited it’s going to be great, he’s a top coach’ etc etc. So I don’t know if I would say they were tripping over themselves to give out empty plaudits..
