I don’t know. I always got straight A’s. You tell me. 😂 😂 😂

Absence of the anthem at All Stars shows leadership by the NRL

Read my reply to Mary and SM (above) and add your name to the list of those challenged to rebutt each point with concrete reasons if you object.

That was like trying to follow a 10 min shell and pea game ND but I tried to use Kelsey’s focus and keep my eye on the ball even if they started to glaze over at the end.

Firstly, James Tedesco is easily the best FB in the game and still clearly the best FB since the greatest FB of all time, Billy Slater. Btw, Slater was even more focused and more fit and active than even Tedesco so Slater would be a better subject for your analogy with Kelsey IMO.

It’s a shame though that the Tigers couldn’t hang on to both Teddy and Moses and kept the dud Luke Brooks instead.

Secondly, Latrell Mitchell is more like Greg Inglis in style, size, power and athleticism and in his best form at FB GI was VERY dangerous and impressive. Latrell has the potential to do the same. Unlike Teddy and GI though he can also kick goals which is an added bonus.

Finally, to quote ND, CPB your Dogs will never make a decent fullback no matter what they try to do. 😂 😂 😂

True leadership is far more encompassing than simply deciding whether to sing a song or not before a game Mary. Given the plethora of shortcomings and failures in leadership the NRL and Todd Greenberg are a LONG way short of a pass mark and still deserve a C- IMO.

Not all indigenous Australian athletes feel the same way about singing the natiomal anthem as Cody Walker, Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr. Greg Inglis, Justin Hodges and Sam Thaiday for example had no problem singing it. Also, if I remember correctly, neither did Indigenous All Stars founder Preston Campbell. But I’m prepared to give a pass to indigenous Australians who wish to opt out.

I think there is a difference though between the date for Australia Day that commemorates the first landing and effective colonial occupation and singing an anthem that is meant to honour a nation that, as you say, indigenous Australians and Australians from all backgrounds fought and died to protect.

The importance of the Indigenous All Stars

National anthem… not national language! Good grief Charlie Brown!

The importance of the Indigenous All Stars

The honest truth is that given a choice between the two I genuinely would have preferred Souths to sign Latrell Mitchell over Valentine Holmes. Holmes is a good player who has been over-hyped IMO. Latrell Mitchell can win games from his own individual brilliance and strength and athleticism.

Also, the Rabbitohs are a better fit for Latrell and I think the Cowboys are a better fit for Holmes. Thankfully we both got what we wanted damo. Only time will tell which was the better signing but I expect both players to take 4 or 5 rounds to improve their fitness and acclimate to their new positions and roles (assuming that they each start at FB).

That will teach me not to only read the headlines DB. 😂

Oh, it will be delicious seeing you eat humble pie old boy. 😉

Great story and insight into your culture Jaydem. Thanks for sharing it. If only Australia had followed NZ’s road map on integrating the Maori culture into their national identity where even non-maori Kiwis are welcomed and invited to participate in the hakka and the national language is sung in both languages. The Kiwis set Australia a great example in that regard that as a nation we are yet to live up to.

CPB, do you honestly think that any team would have beaten the Rabbitohs in the Nines if they had Damien Cook, Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds, James Roberts, Alex Johnston, Campbell Graham, Braidon Burns and Ethan Lowe all playing? Full strength sides for the Storm, Raiders and Roosters would have been next but still behind Souths and ahead of the Eels.

“Do you still share juniors with Easts?”

Yes. Souths develop them and then the Roosters steal them. They do the same thing with premierships.

What happened to the Bunnies in the Nines? No, Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds, Alex Johnston or Adam Doueihi (who is goneski) and Ethan Lowe got injured in the first game. That meant ALL the pressure was on Damien Cook and ALL the focus of the defence as well.

Now imagine if Souths had their best squad on the field? No, after the injury scare to Ethan Lowe I’m glad Souths rested their BIG guns. Still, it was a disappointing effort from the Bunnies and from Edene Gebbie in particular who has too many mistakes and too much ill-discipline in his game to play in the NRL at this stage. Gebbie will have to prove he is ready after a stint in the Canterbury Cup IMO. Not too sure why a second rate competition is named after your great club though, unless… 😉

Oh Latrell. Why? I hope you remain a Rabbitoh for life but you only have a 12 month contract son and disrespecting clubs is not a smart career move. You already have the Roosters, the Tigers, the Titans and now the Cowboys off-side and remember, other clubs are watching.

Think mate before you open your mouth. Greg Inglis knew how to be diplomatic. Speak to him and learn some lessons before you burn all your bridges.

I’m all for a team in Perth. I’ve been a clear advocate of Perth getting a team and started posting about warning that this was coming 2 – 3 years ago when I was posting as SSTID_1970. I just want to see a local side properly supported instead of becoming a laughing stock and undermining the argument for expansions of the game into other geographical areas. That’s not too much to ask, surely?

“he was outshone by the boom fullback that looks like Jesus”

I wouldn’t be expecting the kid to work miracles in turning the Dragons fortunes around Adam. Even Mary couldn’t manage that. 😉

Sounds good to me. I wouldn’t want the Roosters to move into my neighbourhood either. It’s bad enough the Rabbitohs share a fence with them. Have you ever had to smell chicken manure? It’s fowl. 😂 😂 😂

Not a crack in the defence, a crack in the attack! 😂 😂 😂

Poor kid. I could imagine his whole family around their big screen TV cheering him on and someone having to hastily cover grandma’s eyes. Not a moment to put on his highlights reel and show the kids and grandkids I expect. Great young prospect though.

NUDITY WARNING: 'Try-saving dacking of all time' helps Cowboys to NRL Nines title

“Hunt is probably the only guy locked in a position.”

HB and his best position is hooker. Ramsey and Sailor look like exciting prospects for the Dragons along with Lomax. If the Dragons were smart they would lock all 3 in long-term.

“an AFLW match on at the same time which drew 35000”

Wow, 35,000 and without hiding behind the AFL to get those attendance figures. How many do you think would turn up to see a NRLW match and support a 4 team competition without the Rabbitohs? I’d love to see that put to the test.

Btw, NRLW Origin game doesn’t count. We are trying to confirm if the NRLW competition is capable of surviving outside of the NRL’s shadow without leveraging or stealing the attendance record for NRL finals games! My guess is they would be lucky to get 2,000 – 3,000.

Small-time thinking won’t achieve big-time goals

Go the Perth Roosters! 😂 😂 😂

Small-time thinking won’t achieve big-time goals

Kick n Clap if you check my history I have been one of the loudest proponents and consistent campaigners for a team in Perth here on the ROAR. But the NRL doesn’t need another Titans franchise where less than 5,000 turn up for home games if their team is outside the top 8. When they are ever in the 8 they are lucky to get 12,000 anyway and then only when they are playing the Broncos.

What was the aggregate crowd over Friday and Saturday? I doubt it reached an average of 10,000. There wouldn’t have been 5,000 there on Friday evening. So that means, irrespective of it being a work day Perth can never have a Friday night home game or home games when there are AFLW 😂 and important Wildcats games on?

FYI, I lived on the Central Coast for 15 years until about 2 years ago. I have even played on Cenral Coast stadium in my junior days in a state Rugby League semi-final. I know the ground and I know the locals and their passion for their own team AND their willingness to turn up and support any game that is held there.

Still, that doesn’t mean that I ever called for a team on the Central Coast ahead of a team in Perth because I know the game needs to grow and expand it’s geographical borders. But the people in Perth need to turn up and show that they are serious about having their own team or it won’t happen. Brisbane will get a second team ahead of Perth at this rate.

Btw, Papa Smurf is my nickname for Wayne Bennett (along with “old man Bennett”, “old Clint” [Eastwood], “the Grim Reaper” and “the geriatric stick insect”). It’s Papi not Papa. A play on both Papa Smurf and Dylan Napa’s “Big Papi”. 😉

I think Dufty and his speed was a big loss for the Dragons in the Nines. He could well have made a big difference to the final result.

Like Souths I don’t think the Dragons have great depth. A few key injuries and both teams can be easily exposed. In the Bunnies case Cook, Murray, Mitchell, Walker, Knight and Reynolds come to mind.

For the Dragons McInnes is one of their key players and he is already injured. Lucky they have Issac Luke waiting in the wings. I think “bully” could make a huge difference to the Dragons if he can find his Rabbitohs form. Time will tell. But I would certainly give Cody Ramsay an opportunity.

Bad news for the Dragons. Not only are they down on troops for several months with Matt Dufty (fractured cheek bone) and Korbin Sims (broken arm) but now Cameron McInnes has a medial ligament injury. Tragic start to 2020 for the Dragons. Sad news for Pedro the Saint, DPS, Paul and Scott.
