Dr your argument is very sound. Which means get rid of the 12 day break requirement for medical sub because in a practical sense it can’t be enforced.

The AFL's rushed new rules deserve a rushed reaction

You need to read the rule and take a deep breath
That is exactly what the rule says.

'They've rushed it': Jonathan Brown slams new medical sub rule

That’s not the rule
The rule is for a medical injury a player can only be subbed out if the doctor thinks it will be at least a 12 day injury.
If a club wants a player to play the next week it has to be cleared by the Chief AFL doctor.

I agree it’s the rule but Hardwick saying that Vlaustin should get up (in 10 days) is problematic.

The AFL's rushed new rules deserve a rushed reaction

And Hardwick has put the Richmond Doctor in a compromised position already by suggesting that Vlaustin is likely to play next game.
I agree the rule has been badly drawn and was rushed.

Yet the AFL rated as careless not intentional.
I agree with Macca – intentional and low impact would have been the better grading and got the same outcome. I don’t think Carlton would have appealed intentional but appealing medium impact was justified.

Robbo fires up at AFL system over Zac Williams suspension

Your ongoing critiques are now clearer – you want Collingwood to win flags and care for nothing else.
Eddie is not the victim in this story.

The fall and burial of Eddie McGuire

Spot on Dem
I was at the game and Freo’s organisation down back and quick counter attack were very impressive
But it would all fall down if they didn’t have the speed and skill up forward
On a dry day I think they will be very difficult to beat.

Why Fremantle's style is built for AFLW success

Correct that is why there are initiatives to try and address structural bias

Shut up and play footy: Why do we take down players who stand against racism?

I’ve seen similar approaches in recent years in a government dept and the increase in indigenous representation in contracts has been nothing short of amazing.
Such measures enhance a level playing field not detract.

When you say cancel culture what does that actually mean to you?

Eddie McGuire quits as Collingwood president

I agree young midfielders and small forwards is where the improvement needs to come from
Disagree that Walsh is an outside receiver only.

Trade and draft review: Blues go all in

Not sure where that info is coming from. Newman expected to be back next year

Is the new Carlton line-up really all that improved?

My team
B:Plowman Jones Marchbank
HB: Saad Weitering Docherty
C: Williams Cripps Walsh
HF: Martin Casboult Fogerty
F: McGovern McKay Betts
R: De Koning Setterfield SPS
I: Newman Curnow Gibbons Williamson

Depth: Murphy Pittonet Newnes Cunningham JSOS Cottrell Kennedy

Young players who could surprise and be first 22
Dow Stocker Kemp O’Brien Honey Owies

I think that last group is key – we need a couple to become regulars.

Not jncluding C.Curnow until New Year when more is known. A fit Charlie makes Blues better. Straight swap for McGovern. Casboult stays as second ruck.

Agree Tim they need to own up to the mistake. I think that is what is upsetting supporters they haven’t.

Nathan Buckley's position may no longer be tenable

Dan, if there were attitude issues why sign him to such a lucrative contract?
It’s either mismanagement now, when the contracts were signed or both.
Also if the list changed was as well planned as the club is saying why was Stephenson not told by the club?
Just as a reminder the club has traded 3 highly paid players, are still paying some salary for one, and their draft position has hardly improved. And they are saying the reason was to bring in youth – Stephenson is 21??

Nathan Buckley's position may no longer be tenable

Macca I was really confused reading this as I thought you’d know Carlton don’t need to trade for Williams and don’t want De Goey. How can we have two Macca‘s?

What you club needs from the AFL trade period: Part 1

It’s also a guess if they don’t pay it Kane. They are asked to make a decision on intent.
I think you are after beyond reasonable doubt. Might lead to a lot more throw ins.

Lambert's last-quarter strikes put Tigers into the decider

Reckon Port were about 5 lousy kicks away. Most of them in the first quarter

Lambert's last-quarter strikes put Tigers into the decider

James the coaches must have rated Saad okay for him to place third in the B&F and be offered a long term lucrative contract.
I can’t fathom why they would comment on his character when the trade is not finalised and that type of commentary will only turn off prospective players.
You can only think they are planning a clean out and reboot with a new group. Problem will be all the players they have recruited in the last few years who were convinced they were on the rise – will they become disgruntled or be willing to dig in for the hard yards to climb the ladder again?

What on earth is going on, Essendon?

Why are Bombers making derogatory comments about Saad? I don’t see how that helps their negotiating position.
Sam Edmund reporting that Saad ready to go to draft to get to Carlton. Clearly no love for his previous employer.

AFL Trades: Adam Saad's decision spells disaster for Essendon

Saad would rate higher than Kennedy
2nd rounder and Kennedy might do it. I’d be okay with late 1st
round and I think that would be equivalent

Except Brisbane situation (Qld market/academy v established Vic team) means they have to do things differently.
Key point is you get to a point where you can compete at the top, what happens then is critical. Brisbane have a great coach and players clearly have bought in. Going by the first final they have also developed that harder edge that is needed.
It looks Carlton have the first two points and proof will be in the pudding next year for the third.

AFL Trades: Adam Saad's decision spells disaster for Essendon

No one?
Try Geelong and Hawthorn who both built long term success by building a list through the draft.
Once they got to the top they have followed what you said but they had to rebuild a solid list first.

AFL Trades: Adam Saad's decision spells disaster for Essendon

I agree Tom. Brisbane have done a lot right in the past few years and that is way more important than what went before.
I also agree both teams have not followed the same path so comparison is not helpful.
I think Carlton should be expecting finals next year (and obviously Saad and Williams think the same).
Carlton were at a very low point in 2015 due to a multitude of decisions over a number of years. It was hard work but they now appear to be very competitive again (and a place where players want to go).
I agree with Paul D 2020 is a crossroads year for Essendon. Will it be the year (like Carlton in 2015) when they realise being a VFL powerhouse no longer cuts it and the rules have changed or will they continue on the path of mediocrity?
