The NRL cop the blame for just about everything. The Storm knew the rule and the onus was on them to follow procedure. Convenient that they chose the time when Penrith were metres from their line to call a stop when the head knock to Welch had happened at the other end. It was as bad as Penrith’s ploy the week before. What fine will the Storm/their trainer get?

'You'll enjoy watching this kid play': Players to keep an eye on in the QRL finals

Well analyzed on a very topical question. I’ve just given likes to all the positive Penrith comments. Go Panthers!

Why have the Penrith Panthers become the new team NRL fans love to hate?

Good overview Tony. So it seems like it’s coming down to whether Manly is the real deal and deserved a top 4 spot, or whether Cody Walker is a big game player. Souths by 11

Déjà vu – Manly to take down Souths in the preliminary final again

A good article Mary, and nice to hear someone coming out in support of Arthur. It’s encouraging to hear that they have promising youngsters and that they can hopefully improve. Personally, I didn’t think they had the side to go all the way, yet Arthur had them beating the Storm twice, and all but winning against another heavyweight (albeit down on form) on the weekend. If they got through that game who knows? So I’d argue he has had them playing at least to their potential. And if he’s let go who comes in? It could be five years of rebuilding instead of consolidating. Hopefully, sanity prevails. It will be very newsworthy if he gets axed and Maguire has survived.

Parra's players deserved more but Brad Arthur has done enough to remain as Eels coach

Well said!

NRL semi-finals: When fibros play fibros who’s left to hate?

That’s certainly some good food for thought and a well-written piece.

Is it time for the NRL to consider neutral trainers?

You can certainly get excited as a bunnies fan. Should win this week then you’re every chance. I agree Cleary’s shoulder is a bit of a problem, and I’m one of the hypers. Guess we’ll see this week and over the next few years.

Turbo and Cleary lead the way in a semi-finals weekend of contrasts

As a Dragons fan 5th is champagne time! There’s been plenty of conjecture about the Morris decision. And not every team has the luxury of bringing in a big 4 in the likes of Bellamy, Bennett, Robinson, and Hasler. There’s probably a bit of a fall away after that. But I’d love to see how Arthur would go at Souths. I can’t profess to know much about Parra’s recruitment but that’s a whole ‘nother debate. If some teams miss out on the big stars, is it all because of the coach?

Turbo and Cleary lead the way in a semi-finals weekend of contrasts

Yeah, it’s an interesting debate. Like Brooks seeming to play better under Cleary than Maguire. But Moses made Origin this year. Does Arthur have the roster to win a premiership? I reckon not yet he went pretty close with what he had. If the trainer doesn’t stop the game and they score, then what? We know they can beat the Storm. It’s a sliding doors moment, but how close did they actually come to going all the way? We’ll never know. If I’m a Parra fan wanting change I’d be careful what I wish for.

Turbo and Cleary lead the way in a semi-finals weekend of contrasts

Fair question. I think it comes down to Moses finding his mojo and bringing it every week. Maybe next year.

After I made that observation I saw that he had picked up a couple of injuries, and maybe that was the reason for the limited minutes. But if I was Cleary I would have hooked him.

I’ll have to go back and check those early games. I don’t remember seeing much from him for a while, although in the last few weeks I thought he was doing more, particularly in defense. And he was running straighter with less passing. He reverted on the weekend. I’m no expert but to me, he seems to submit too easily when tackled rather than trying to break them like he used to. Maybe he’s looking for a quick play the ball

Fair call. I liked his game. And he was maybe the cleanest of them as well. In contrast to someone like Morley who would make Radley look like an apostle

The club stalwarts: Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra

I thought of him too then checked his numbers. Close to the best Englishman to come out here.

Great work Tony. What a Dragons team! They’d beat the Storm let alone the best Wests Tigers! I know I’m probably a lone voice here but – anyone but Widdop. And Jamie Soward playing on one leg.

Nicely written Ian. Edwards is no superstar but I’m still a fan. Hard thing to define really.

How many clubs would trade their fullback for Dylan Edwards?

A nice show of faith in Naden after last year. And from memory, he was very good in the last game he played. And Edwards is one of those fullbacks you start off thinking is a stop-gap but that keeps surprising you.

Star winger to miss semi final in massive Panthers blow

Thanks for the read AJ. I found it to be an anticlimax almost from the start. In hindsight, it was no surprise really. The only bloke I felt sorry for was Josh Morris.

'The Roosters had no answers': Talking points from the Sea Eagles' decimation of the Roosters

Here’s a solution – Sunshine Coast Storm, permanently. I’ll bet they’ll now have had a taste for what they’ve been missing playing through Melbourne winters.

'The Roosters had no answers': Talking points from the Sea Eagles' decimation of the Roosters

Hi MJ. Yeah, I think it’s close to impossible to hate Tommy, as Lady League eloquently explained in her article a couple of weeks ago. As for the Roosters injuries, I begrudgingly offer respect. But if any team could beat the odds, it had to be the one with the most unbelievable (read disproportionate) depth. And Manly was once the evil empire, but I didn’t mean them. Nor the Roosters.

NRL semi-finals: When fibros play fibros who’s left to hate?

Good article Tony. I reckon tonight might be close with a Manly win. And they’re a reasonable chance against Souths. Then it’s a case of whether the same stage fright hits them if it’s the Storm. Even if not, can they compete at the Storm’s level for 80 minutes? I hope so if they make it but it would have to be their best game of the year. Here’s to a Penrith/Parra v Souths GF.

Never mind the bollocks, here come the Sea Eagles

Hey, thanks for the tip Dwayne. I’ll definitely check it out. Might do Mascord out of a sale
