NRL week 20 preview talking points: Last chance for your team to survive Origin in one piece, Tallis clueless in CBA debate
there is no way that the st george and illawarra regions have less registered players than the roosters
The data deep dive: who is actually the NRL's most supported club?
i think what you are trying to accomplish is too difficult. firstly, they are a snapshot of this year, numbers can change immensley if a club has a good season – if the dragons or tigers have a good year their number swill go way up. crowd figures are often fudged plus there is the effect of home crowds being awarded for Magic round. the roosters numbers are distorted by Anzac day – they will go to the dragons next year as host. i think the best metric you have shown is social media numbers
The data deep dive: who is actually the NRL's most supported club?
i dont know if the stand alone failed viewership wise. channel just upset they couldnt show a hal strength penrith play the west tigers in an unfair match on the friday

turning things around takes time. no one wants to come to an under performing club, the dogs have gone heavy recruiting u20 players and will eventually pay off. they still dont have a 1 or 7

hes been there 6 years and had a lot of lean periods
Dear Ben Hunt: Avoid cowardly act, lest your Dragons legacy be completely ruined
he is on about 900k and other clubs will be happy to pay that. will only be if Ben wants to head there
Enough with the Ben Hunt innuendo - he isn't going anywhere
yes he is the clubs best player yet the club will not be competitive for at least the term of his contract until retirement. Ben is the player that will lift the dragons to 13th nect year and maybe the 11th the year after. then after that they will have to start from scratch with a new 7 and the club will go backward again. let him go now and play for a top club and let the dragons rebuild
Enough with the Ben Hunt innuendo - he isn't going anywhere
i agree, i think the issue is that a rabid fan base wants immediate results
Flanno’s fashion doesn’t suit - Dragons need fresh coaching style to oversee overwhelming overhaul
drawing a long bow between a tournament in 1983 and the strength of India cricket today. i would say its due to the rapid economic growth of the nation in that time.
40 years on: When Kapil Dev’s men shocked the world and shaped India's future
good points. i have been wasting my time on the Dragons fans forums recently. most of them want Flanno because he will bring immediate improvement. this will see the dragons return to the 2012-2018 period where the side finished around 9th or 10th. i would personally rather start from scratch, let Hunt go, struggle for 3 more seasons and totally rebuild the team with new recruitment officer, football manager and coach. i think the board will go with Flanno and see the team get off the bottom of the table andget the media and fans off their back. everyone laughed at the Panthers 5 year plan taking ages and Dogs are taking a long time to fix their club. the dogs have put massive resources into players under the age of 20, they will be good and stay that way in another 3 years
Flanno’s fashion doesn’t suit - Dragons need fresh coaching style to oversee overwhelming overhaul
100% – Young and Pangai are not the reason. the backline was extremely clunky as Slater had an effective defensive plan for the Panthers attack
Is Brad Fittler the reason for New South Wales' Blues?
the NRL has a tv schedule not a draw. Origin could be played on a monday night giving players at least 5 days to recover but Wednesday night has the best ratings. the TV stations demand NRL every weekend (even in this shortened form with unfair match ups) so the NRL can squeeze every last dollar out of them.
Stand-alone Origin is the only way forward
people this week say we cant throw youngsters into the cauldron of Suncorp. Qld seem to have no problem sending playes with little expereince and they seem to thrive. confidence vs fear
Chaos or calculated risks? History repeats with Brad Fittler’s constant selection gambles
we have a tv schedule , not a footy draw. it is aimed at getting as much contnet as possible and viewers. the NRL agrees to this to squeeze every last dollar from the broadcasters. this is why we have origin on a wednesday. even thought we could play on a sunday night and give the players until at least saturday to recover. instead we play on a wednesday as it the day to get the biggest ratings and players are backing up 2 or 3 days later. a fortunate draw in origin can mean the difference between 5th and 9th
Time to pause during Origin and reduce length of season as interstate contest leaves NRL in the shade
