Very good day for the Glory Jordan. I’ve no doubt the women inspired the boys somewhat today as well.

There’s more than one way to skin a cat Jordan. ????

Alas, no foxtel for me, so I’m missing the Asian Cup.
How come Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney are all playing on Wednesday? Actually, scratch that question – a perth timeslot would allow for a Wednesday double header. Makes sense.
Shame there’s no A-League tomorrow night I suppose.

How good has it been Jordan? I don’t know what I’m going to do for the next four nights.

No comment was warranted Punter. You made a point, but I couldn’t tell what it was, so I let it through to the keeper.

“Football is a funny game.”
Now where have I heard that before? Pretty sure that was me!
So we agree on something JB.

If you couldn’t tell that I was calling Sydney FC an underdog ironically, then maybe my writing isn’t for you. Further, in that very piece, I pointed out that Sydney are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and in fact are nothing like an undersog. So your poor cherry picking of my work to suit your criticism of my writing is so shallow you can’t go through two consecutive paragraphs of writing to appreciate context.
Also, my supposed bias against Sydney? I was accused of having a bias I’m favour of them in commentary on Saturday night, so who knows how I feel about them?!

How much of it can be put down to bad luck? I mean, a broken goal post, surely that’s just bad luck, right? Right?
Anyone?
Bueller?

And right back at ya Nemesis. I would expect nothing less from you!

Great point jb. Absolutely more then happy to admit I was not aware that moves to push football to summer were that early in implementation.
But my point still remains. The move was ultimately about better exposure, and to move it in line with global football calendars after becoming an Asian confederation, thereby moving it out of our confederation alignment, makes less sense from an alignment perspective.
But the move to summer was as much about removing football from the battle with league and AFL as it was helping to build up the domestic league. I didn’t make that part up. As you say, the NSL was dying, crowds and coverage non-existent. The move to summer was about assisting that. I’m hardly a thousand miles off.

I always love it when I’m accused of fabrication by someone who hides behind a fake username online. The deliciousness of the irony deserves four chefs hats.
And you think I’m young. Bless you.

If you’re referring to basketball as being played indoors due to crowd issues, basketball has always been an indoor sport. I thought it was a player safety issue, or simply a playing condition issue. But I could be wrong. I await a comment from Waz in the event that I am.

The fact that the NBL get relatively impressive crowds and consistent media coverage is precisely the reason they were included, and why it is a valid point. It has sidetracked nothing.
Thanks as always for your ever-critical input Waz. Your ability to pick a minor part of a much broader topic to suit your critiquing agenda is always welcome in commentary on the pieces that I submit.

I likely agree with you Fads in terms of staying power of the A-League compared with the BBL fad. I think the NBL is the bigger threat to the A-League personally. They get fairly impressive crowds. And the majority of teams have decades long followings. Nevertheless, BBL and NBL are still denting A-League viewers and attendances. Which then equates to denting potential sponsorship dollars.
As for aligning with the world football calendar to explain the summer time table for our domestic league, that makes even less sense, particularly given the A-League is an Asian confederation league, so it is out of alignment with the J and K-leagues, as well as the Champions league. As for other codes “worrying about it,” in fact they do. The BBL has to align with global world cricketing calendars, and given cricket is a summer sport, it has to be played with it is. Super rugby too has to align with global IRB schedules. And again, AFL and NRL are winter sports. So are played when they are accordingly. I agree that the NBL has little concerns areanging their domestic league with any global infkuence, nothwithstanding world cups and Olympics.
Always makes me chuckle reading your commentary Fads. It’s always passionate and fervent. I remain as ever appreciative of your patronage and input.

It’s a pretty common terminology Haydo and descriptor for the weekend’s rounds across the world. I think you’re going to have to learn to accept it.
Seven talking points from A-League Round 8
I think the MLS is where the league should aspire as well. But is that enough? Does the league want to help us win a world cup?
And thanks for the appreciation of expedience. It has its drawbacks. No sooner had I submitted, but Galekovic had a blinder, and I wanted to talk about him over Elsey.
Ah well. Such is life.

Hoffman got credited by the ground announcer with the Sheppard goal today. How funny was it?

I’m always happy to take some praise.

History is on their side JK. I thought Jets would fade last season, but they stayed the course.
Six talking points from A-League Round 7
It’s a fair point. I certainly wanted to write Victory off after the first two rounds, and if not for a profligate Newcastle in Newcastle, Melbourne could well have been looking at three losses on the trot.
My point is that sometimes performances, as good as they might be, if they don’t turn into results, can be disastrous. Look at Central Coast: good early, winless after six rounds. In this game, ultimately, results are everything.
Still, at the moment, Melbourne look the team to beat, and with their line up, that really should be the case come the conclusion of round 27.
Six talking points from A-League Round 6
Not sure what you’re talking about Red.
I certainly don’t have any problem. It’s a shame you look so poorly on my engagement with other commentary on my thoughts.

Not controversial. Just dubious.
