Players are getting away with too much dissent this year. The total opposite of what was occurring last year. Need to get the balance right. When players are still arguing with the umpire a full minute after the initial decision it’s totally out of line.

The MCG is the biggest ground argument is short sighted and makes it seem like a vic competition with a few token interstate teams chucked in to increase national revenue and help prop up a few ailing vic teams. Oh hang on that’s what it actually is 😛

Yep a number of those frees could have been called play on and no one would have thought twice about it. Picking out a missed call at the end of the game is cherry picking at best. As for the second free well when a player is still arguing with the umpire more than a minute later it’s the least you would expect to happen.

Mostly agree with this. The grand final situation is ridiculous given we are now 35 years into a national comp. But it appears we’re stuck with it until at least 2057.

Did he even hit him high ? I saw Fyfe reach for his upper chest/shoulder, but didn’t see any impact to the head. And at least Fogarty was actually contesting for the ball, not intending to hit the player.

They went on with it for far too long. I get a sudden negative reaction to a decision you may not agree with but it quickly reaches a point where players should pull their head in.

Freo got 6 goals from free kicks. That leaves a paltry 3 without umpire assistance. Wow, just Wow !!

I’ve rechecked the scoreboard. Carlton scored a paltry 73 points but it was still enough to beat Freo. A team can’t expect to win if it only scores 9 goals.

Freo only scored 63 points. That’s not a winning score. Their opposition scored more than them. This is why they lost.

Well written Tim. Freo choked yet again in a game against the Blues. The incessant whinging by their players and supporters is laughable and really quite pathetic. The better team with the highest score, most scoring shots and least free kicks in their favour won the game. Goodnight !

Ratten may not have been the “one” but he was certainly better than the next three coaches that followed. Sticks Kernahan and Greg Swann have a lot to answer for and both jumped ship quickly when it became obvious how wrong they got it.

Only 4 points off a premiership last year so it would appear crazy to move him on any time this year. Agree though that most clubs wait too long, and repeat their failure year after year. Carton have been criticised for sacking coaches, but the criticism should have been for appointing the wrong ones in the first place.
