I’d take a guess that MacKellar was also a Wallaby coach at the time, maybe spread too thin. Larkham has in my view always inherited good teams, not created them.

Five things: RWC quarters deliver rugby's greatest weekend, Cheika's timely Wallabies reminder, officiating wild west

d) Communicating all of this is impossible in brief comments on an obscure fan forum. Wash your mouth out with soap. 😂 😂 😂 😂

The three contenders to take over the Wallabies if Eddie Jones walks

Eddie Jones, not Cheika. Was responding to Bliksem…….Cheika had Ledesma at one stage Raiwalui at another, I bet they both speak highly about him.

The three contenders to take over the Wallabies if Eddie Jones walks

Sure, but no assistants want to work with him. There must be a reason for that.

Cec – You exactly prove the point I made above……

The three contenders to take over the Wallabies if Eddie Jones walks

He was from Randwick NSW and was therefore automatically the enemy of 90% of Australian rugby, but especially the Queenslanders, and he was white anted at every corner and reviled in many places.

I would love the Oirish to win the thing, someone else needs to win it, they’ve won 17 on the trot and have been No.1 in the world for some time – they really deserve it. In fact I would like a northern hemisphere team to win it – so long as it’s not England, that would be utterly intolerable.

Parkes Life: The joke's on us - could it be that World Rugby knew what they were doing all along?

I hate to say it but here are my predictions for the quarters.
This is a bridge too far for the Fijians at this level. England 🤢
Wales will drag Argentina down and beat them with experience. 😢
Ireland will beat NZed 😛 😊 😁 I just love the way they play and what they do with what they have. They are brilliant.
France will beat SA. 👍
Which hurts me deeply to say but makes for 4-0 to the Northern Hemisphere………..

Even whinier than the poms.

RWC News: England set to drop star playmaker, Boks coach turns heat up on coach, Frenchman's big Eddie admission

The view from Marinos would be interesting.

Jones to return to Australia as Japanese reports link Wallabies coach as favourite to take over Brave Blossoms

Not difficult for Rassie. Huge player base without any competition (ie AFL, Loigue) and was following a ridiculous coach who had no idea. Even Eddie Jones would have made them better.

Quell surprise!!!!

REPORT: Eddie Jones to quit Wallabies and join Japan as head coach

Absolutely KH, and not everyone who plays in a club comp wants to go on and be a professional. This is where the Shute Shield proponents who want it to be the semi-pro level feeding Super get it so wrong.

Very easy for the red mist to descend at the moment. 😂 😂 😂

Nah, his inspiration was Jelonch.

😂 😂 😂 😂 You got it. It does need a single word and what a doozy it would be. Hoist by your own petard is too long.

“Participation, coaching, and competition”. Just about says it all – and the people to run it.

I’ll accept that, easy to misread things. Ikitau was the most ridiculous exclusion. Our outside back defense was always well organised by him. Perhaps he knows more than the “defense” coach, and the “attack” coach and their egos couldn’t deal with that. Salakai Loto, Sio, Samu, Hooper M, even hard heads like Swinton, also Wilson in spite of his lack of a tests would have been a better inclusion than Gleeson (and I’m a big fan of his for the future), and Holloway who is an excellent leader, and lineout general. I just hope Jones resigns, its the best solution, just foff to japan, or anywhere, just not Australia. I would really like to see a coaching team built around McKellar if we need an Aussie, or Schmidt with McKellar and Fisher involved. Schmidt has that NZed Irish rugby/coaching “DNA”. But it must seem like such a poisoned chalice at the moment.

Yeah, a team without experienced leadership. A couple of wise old heads on the field would have made the world of difference. Name a successful young coach at international level.

No, bullshit, rubbish. They need older, experienced, strong people to get them out of this. Just going with youth for the sake of youth is one reason we’re in such a pile of excrement. These guys need leadership.

He was a good coach, he’s no longer a good coach though. He has run out of assistants and ideas.

You are wrong. The players are all pretty much the same size/speed across all the top say 15 international teams – their mental and physical fitness varies however. ITS THE COACHING THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE. Firstly study the U20’s tournament last year – all the top teams were from Europe. European defense and the attack systems have been well calculated to deal with who ever they are playing and rehearsed over and over – amateurs practise until they get it right, professionals practise until they can’t get it wrong. The Wallabies had NEITHER a defense system (a league full back as defense coach) or an attack system (Jones ffs and a former league forward). We had a scrum coach as a lineout coach, and who knows what other higeldy pigeldy nonsense was going on, except of course that Jones was working incredibly hard. It’s our coaching that is the problem. Look at Thorn in Qld, and NSW last two coaches, there have been a generation of fine players lost there. So good players are being badly coached, AND are being taught old systems that have been unpicked by better more thoughtful coaches – and the fundamentals are being neglected. On top of that, a good coach in Dave Rennie was booted after 3 years of preparation for the WC – that was a tragedy, we would at least still be in this fight if that hadn’t happened. Jone’s team selections were a disaster, wtf was he thinking. Rugby is a battle and western military systems operate on NCO’s being able to take command when the bullets are flying. We had no NCO’s, no one with the leadership experience and it showed badly. Ireland has far fewer players than we do, and look at what they can deliver…….. Look at their defensive structure and then how they pick apart an oppositions defense, even South Africa’s. We can do much better with the players we have – assuming they stay with us, and if they do, they deserve MUCH better coaching than Jones can deliver. He is yesterdays man.

'Laughing at us': Wallabies legend fears doomsday scenario for Australian rugby, urges 'bold' solution

Jones was apparently the “attack” coach, and our attack was utterly inept, as was England’s at the end of the Jones’ tenure. Surely that rings alarm bells?

The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer

They have had a series of ordinary coaches since Cheika and as a consequence lost a lot of players. I had hopes for Coleman but he seemed to lose the plot last year, mind you they had a bloody tough draw which just did not allow them to get any momentum.

'Beacon of hope': Wallabies' RWC disaster has made Super Rugby success even more vital for the game's future

The “Twiggy solution” is just garbage. Stop it, stop begging. It’s embarrassing and pathetic, like waiting for a rich uncle to die to fix the financial problems you’ve generated yourself.

Time for revolution: A hostile takeover of Australian rugby, led by Twiggy, is the only thing that will save it
