That debut Test started 12 years ago to the day.
Ace of Chase: Cummins, Starc steer Aussies into World Cup decider after classic semi as Proteas' knockout curse continues
Cummins 14 reminding me of the winning 1st Test Ashes partnership against England with Lyon a few months ago. Not to forget his minor but important role with Maxi against Afghanistan.
Ace of Chase: Cummins, Starc steer Aussies into World Cup decider after classic semi as Proteas' knockout curse continues
I always remember Stoinis’s big ton in NZ, almost 7 years ago now. I’ve been waiting for the next one for, well, almost 7 years.
The Australian line-up that can win the Cricket World Cup … if the selectors make the right calls
Finally watching the replay. They need 170 to win and Maxwell’s going to score 158 of them. I’m still refusing to believe this actually happened.
Glenn the Greatest - ever! Maxwell's magnificent double-ton rescues Aussies, stuns Afghanistan in WC epic
I’ll miss Dave when he’s gone. He deserves both criticism and acclamation for things he’s done. But ultimately the positives in his cricket career outweigh the negatives by a distance, for me. One thing I won’t miss is the outrage from certain quarters.
Missed opportunity: Graciousness could've taken Warner to another level but he went the other way
Personally, I blame Cummins.
Zenzational Zampa! Leggie's all-round performance for the ages officially ends Poms' WC defence in tense Aussie win
Cummins taking 2/24 off his last 4 overs and scoring 37 off 14 is cherry picking a stat, but nevertheless shows how he made a difference against NZ.
Australia’s squad though isn’t quite right. But they deserve credit for pulling together after that drinks break against Sri Lanka. If they get to the semis it will be a pass mark for me. It’s really important to get 3rd spot to avoid India in the semis. And that’s why their inability to contain NZ’s batting in order to increase their NRR could come back to bite them. But NZ have a tougher 3 games coming up than Australia you could argue. So onwards and upwards.
‘Deplorable’ batting stumbling block and costly bowling problem: Australia’s two glaring issues to fix at World Cup
No, he’s great. Great hands and reach. But I’d have Marnus over him in that category.
Heady days: Travis' triumphant return outdoes NZ prodigy's epic as Aussies hang on in crazy, thrilling run-fest
He’s not in the squad. I’m just thinking about what we have to choose from.
Heady days: Travis' triumphant return outdoes NZ prodigy's epic as Aussies hang on in crazy, thrilling run-fest
There are better batting options than Marnus, but his outfielding is phenomenal. I’d probably have him above Green and Stoinis on that alone, with the squad we have. They aren’t too shabby fielders themselves mind.

Hopefully Australia will start thinking about the next cycle straight after the ODI World Cup. And hopefully they won’t select too many players that won’t be there in 4 years. We need to be playing more series against teams with good spinners as well. Problem is it seems like bilateral ODI cricket is on the way out. So maybe we’re ahead of the curve rather than behind it!
Twin DRS controversies leave Aussies fuming as latest collapse, fielding nightmare sum up huge loss to Proteas
Around the mid part of the tournament sounds a but hazy. Quite a few of the teams in this tournament have their own issues however, not just Oz. I hope Maxi is fit as his bowling will possibly be even more important than his batting. One thing about Marnus is that he’s a gun fielder and he may be able to create a few runouts should he play.
Risky business: Aussies taking two major gambles with World Cup squad after Agar injury puts selectors in a spin
Cam Green needs a spell. Back to WA cricket for a while.
Wallabies warning signs for Aussie cricketers after fifth straight loss in worrying slump before World Cup
I don’t follow rugby super closely but I want to see the Wallabies win. So yeah, fair weather fan. What a shemozzle the sacking of Rennie and appointment of Jones was. Just felt like contributing and expressing my disappointment. I’ll read the more educated responses now.
'Bloody disappointed: Wallabies OUT of World Cup as nation to miss finals for first time, Eddie fights for survival
These seem like positive moves by NSW. But yeah, proof, pudding and all that.
Beleaguered Blues bring back legends to turn fortunes around after worst season in 84 years
For the last 9 Ashes Tests in England I’ve been saying to myself Warner will get the big ton here. He has one more chance. Cue solid 32 of 73 deliveries. My problem for Oz this tour has been the batting more than the bowling. In the last 2 Tests they’ve had opportunities to get decent 1st innings totals and haven’t. Aside from Khawaja our batters have been disappointing. Not total disasters but not great. There’s only one Aussie in the top 7 run scorers. Mind you, one more innings, must keep up hope.
Aussies Bazballed again as Root, Bairstow and Crawley power England towards series-levelling win
We screwed up in so many ways in the 4th Test. It all started with the defensive selection of not selecting Murphy.
Run out drama erupts as controversial Smith escape, Murphy cameo earns Aussies unlikely lead
Yet people will still bag him.
Warner loss sours Aussie comeback as Starc inspires England collapse despite drops aplenty

UK View: ‘Mixed bag of brilliant and brainless’, 'restless, skittish, lackadaisical’ - English media turn on Bazball over blunders
Australia have dealt with England’s all out attack batting approach pretty well at times this Ashes. Not perfectly by any means, as the 4th Test showed. We will only learn more come the next Ashes. England’s “go for it, good vibes, train if you wanna, wear a bucket hat innit” approach – when it works it can be brilliant. But do they want to learn from their losses and modify things when the circumstances call for it? Is that what Ben and Baz are all about? I guess we will see in a couple of years.

Not losing the 4th test was a huge win!
Weather they like it or not, England only have themselves to blame for Australia being raining Ashes champs
I only watch big games of Rugby and don’t pretend to know the intricacies of the rules. For me, watching Australia for the last I don’t know how many years has been the epitome of frustration. So yeah I hope they win the 1st game in the Bledisloe.
Weather they like it or not, England only have themselves to blame for Australia being raining Ashes champs
I can understand England being frustrated at the weather and decisions they made at times in this series. But it’s been equally frustrating watching Oz throw away potential decent totals and failing to bowl the English tail out as well. The 3rd Test from an Australian perspective was really annoying. I don’t even want to think about it. And our 1st innings this Test – should have got 450. So, one word for this series for me – frustrating. A win’s a win though. Needless to say it would be great to with the 5th Test.
Weather they like it or not, England only have themselves to blame for Australia being raining Ashes champs
At least no-one’s talking about Starc. He seems to be a regular fall guy for Oz when we lose, even with his quality strike rate. I don’t have a problem with the team. Yeah it’s a bit defensive. But it’s also pretty good. Deep, I know. I wonder if the 2 all rounders are retained in the 11 next summer, with Lyon. If not then it’s a BatBowlField-off between Marsh and Green.
Aussies adopt defensive mindset after making changes for fourth Test - but Warner gets stay of execution
There’s no doubt that no-one wants to play Australia in this type of match, as they are so good at these clutch games.
