We are told QLD live and breath Origin and get very upset when they lose — The NSW Media are trying to install this same level of Upsettingness when we lose – especially in Sydneysiders who dont care about anything much- in the hopes it will gee the team up. This time it worked.

Maroons player ratings: From 9.9 to middle of the road for Munster, Cobbo back to earth with a thud

Thanks Sheek I’m sure women will take note of what you think women can and cant do with their bodies. By your argument Men shouldn’t play Rugby as they might get hit in the groin effecting effecting their reproductive future. Instead focus on what women chose to do. It is their choice.

It’s time for women’s Origin to move to a three-game series … so long as we pay players properly

Yep I think what you’re trying to say is that you’re sad Manly aren’t good enough to have an NRLW side . – But that I think will always be the case

Roosters resolve shines through to hand Chooks first ever NRLW Premiership

Newcastle always seem to fall away by the end of the year. Manly need to lift their game at present and if Trbojevic gets injured they may be in trouble. The Broncos will struggle if Reynolds isn’t available . Souths seem pretty directionless at the moment .

Rule changes, cannonballs and misfiring moves: Early-season NRL trends emerging

I think its a bit early to see how the knights halves will fare this year fingers cross Joey can have some input. However Pearce and Ponga last year were the only reason that kept Newie in the hunt when Pearce was not injured the knights did well and it was through him mostly that the Knights could score tries– They seemed clueless without him. Reminds me a bit of when Joey carried the team single handed in the early 00’s. He did a good service whilst he was here and was a huge step up from the wasteland that was previous to his arrival. – Oh and he finally helped win an Origin Series. Mitchell will be remembered in Newcastle as the man who dragged us out from the abyss and that is enough.

The NRL’s 2022 export crop

It was good to see KW but there was a lot of luck with some of the Stuff. Gagai’s try was off a disaster bounce for Teddy and Easts kept dropping the ball and I don’t think they were match fit. Still Besty and Gagai were a revelation and the halves didnt look wooden and uncreative like everybody was predicting –Man support to them from lock was positive – which might be his best position . However When The knights have started like this post Joey era they often fall away by the middle of the season. If O’Brien can keep them consistant and Ponga motivated then anythings possible

Knights fans, don't get ahead of yourselves

We used to have such a “conference” system – it was called the NSWRL and the QLDRL – separate Brisbane and Sydney Comps — which is almost the same as proposed — didn’t go all that well did it with the AFL encroaching – hence the NRL. You don’t see any other Australian Code with conference system. Why should League

NRL two-conference model should never see light of day: Two halves don't make a right

They should have been kicked out of the Olympics 3 Olympics ago with all their drug cheating. The Russian Gymnast who has the Z on his leotards – the symbol of the Invasion should be banned for life

Russia’s position in world sport has become untenable

Yeah and as a Knights Supporter I still felt the same numbing loss as when the men do this time after time. It seems to be in the Newcastle Culture that we switch off at vital times. Men or Women.

News Corp's latest narrow-minded attack on women's sport misses the point

The Mammoth hunting Neanderthals had a Red head gene and we interbred with them. That’s where it supposedly comes from– Modern NRL players? – well enough said

Everybody loves a redhead: The ginger NRL squad

I thought Newcastle were ok in attack but Parra were making it out of their half too easily meaning the Knights had to scramble a lot. Disagree about their last tackle option. It seems in the women’s game taking the six tackle and turnover is a far better option because full backs and wingers are able to break away more easily in returning kicks. Maybe the Knights need to be more organised and concentrate on a smothering a defence when they have the opposition in their own 22. They seemed to forget that there was one tackle left after the disallowed Parra try. So concentration levels need to be up near the end of the game .

NRLW Round 1 Wrap: Parramatta fans get carried away (again) but the strictly business Broncos look unbeatable

Still a bit early to tell if the petrodollars have kicked in. Are the Toon on their way to becoming a Souless ManCity clone — time will tell.

Can Magpies extend winning run when they travel to London Stadium?

Seen him play when he was in his twilight years for West Newcastle Rosellas he was still awesome then. One time carved up Cessnock from halfway on his own. From an era where a lock truly mattered and was a main part of the Spine. RIP Mr Raper.

RIP John 'Chook' Raper: Dragons legend, original 'Immortal' and World Cup-winning captain

Smith did not get on with the Clique who ran Newcastle at the time of his Coaching. But I dont think many of the Head coaches the knights had did except maybe favourite son Michael Hagan . I remember him saying after he left for Easts that at all of the End of Season Knights social gatherings and Local Awards nights most of the officials and some of the players ignored him and his wife

The nearly man: Brian Smith’s rugby league legacy

The AFL Suns are finding this out — a bottomless abyss to throw their money in — Still the AFL can afford to I suppose. Better off going to Tasmania or a 3rd W.A. or S.A. team

The rugby league club graveyard: The beginning of the 1998 exodus (Part 5)

Remember in Hunter Street at the time they had a media crew with cameras and microphones some wearing mariner jerseys getting opinions from passers by about the new team — I gave the opinion that I hoped they’d die a death and I wasn’t the only one — the crew looked pretty stressed and depressed after about 20 minutes the young male interviewer looked like he was about to cry

The rugby league club graveyard: The 1997 clean-out (Part 4)

Soccer – Association football– came out of Rugby not the other way around. Rugby is older. In fact many of the english public schools used to play 1 half that was Rugby like and one half that was soccer like during the 1850’s until they split in the 1860s

A forfeit, challengers and Bears premierships: How the rugby league grand final came to be

First Pearce now Ponga — one step forward two steps back — back to where we started from. Newie is certainly the poor mans Parramatta

Yep only 2 I know of — Penrith and Canterbury –Easts he only made the Semis

Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Lighting NFL and Ice Hockey Champs respectively –Their Baseball team made the playoffs as well — very lucky having Bay in the name at the moment
