All Blacks star signs surprise short-term deal with Irish heavyweights
Love Leinster and Irish rugby, but:
1. They haven’t won the Champions Cup for the last 5 years
2. They haven’t won the URC for the last 2 years.
3. They haven’t played against any Kiwi or South African sides.
4. None of their 17 Irish Internationals have made it past the quarter finals at the RWC.

Sorry to break your typical rant against Aussies thinking their players shouldn’t be punished, but Savant did say “I agree he should not have reacted and deserved to be suspended.”
'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?
Agree that Tate should have got more and McReight’s is the same as others, but it was only a weak headbutt because the Rebels player pulled back.
It was intentional and reckless and should have been at least 6 weeks.
The inconsistency was last week.

Why didn’t Fraser claim he was trying to headbutt? Don’t these players learn anything?

I find it impossible to believe there is no connection between more of the current board members (than Georgia Widdup) and the new money. Melbourne is a pretty small pool in terms of business people that would want to own a stake in the Rebels.
The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby
Of course, but sprouting that the Rebels have everything sorted and making out that all Phil Waugh and Daniel Herbert are interested in doing is closing down Rugby in Victoria is not the greatest attempt at journalism.
The question to be asked is why didn’t the Rebels board do any of this sooner?

IMO the best path forward will be if the Rebels stay and the current directors aren’t given RA money…but given you appear to know everything about the proposal why don’t you share it with us.

Funny that Geoff thinks the Rebels’ back end is slowly taking shape, given most of the same people will be those who saddled it with $22 million of debt. Is it really PE or is it just the current boards mates coming to their rescue to try and save face?
Sounds like Geoff has been fed one side of the story and is trying his best to discredit (an already discredited) RA. Whoever said journalism is a dying art appears to be true, as now it is a platform for agendas to be promoted.

I have to agree that 8th is likely to be a place that no one would really want to be in come the end of the round robin.
I think those in 9-12 would be ok with it…

Actually the Tahs are just ahead. Would have had 4 points if both games were a draw, but instead they have 5.
Still prefer not to have golden point though. A draw is still a result.
'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win
Sadly don’t live near enough, but do go to most brumby games even though they aren’t my team…and yes I watched them get smashed last weekend.
'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win
Just realised that Tane was 5 from 5 last night, not 9 from 9. A good effort, but I would still prefer to have Harrison starting and Tane on the bench.

Did you watch the game, or just come to whinge about the article?

Also lets not overlook Tane’s 5 from 5.

In addition, I did not go to the game, despite being a member…that says a lot about how this team is going. I would never miss a game.
You would never miss a game but you did. Last night. This says more about you than how the Tahs are going.

Conceding 6 penalties (compared to 11 for the Crusaders) is a good start. They also conceded fewer turnovers than the Saders.

Is it good to see Will harrison play? Definitely!
Should there be talk about him being in wallaby contention? Not a chance.
Don’t forget that Tane also kicked 9 from 9 and equally he shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as the wallabies.
Great game from Swinton and Jake Gordon.

He would need alot of work to be ahead of the 12s we already have and pretty sure he would be looking for more than a training contract.
Rooster must remodel: Angus Crichton says he'd want to 'dominate' in rugby union - this is what he'd have to change
Australian Rugby doesn’t really need more loose forwards or outside backs, especially those that haven’t played it for 10 years.
1-5 and 10 and 12 should be the main areas of focus.
Would love to see RA come out and say thanks but no thanks.

i fully agree Hoy, but the judiciary don’t see it that way.
Rugby News: Beale 'laser focused' on Wallabies return, coach fury at ban for 'malicious' headbutt
You are right in that the level of impact helps determine the entry point, but it shouldn’t then be reduced further because of the level of impact.
What the judiciary have said is an intentional headbut deserves less punishment than an unintentional tackle that goes slightly wrong. It makes no sense.

It appears one of the mitigating factors was they dressed nicely for the hearing. Always a 1 week reduction for a tie.

HHB have you seen Crusaders playing this year? The fact is they haven’t won anything for a few years so can’t be held up as the best club team in the world.
Reminds me of India claiming to be the best one day cricket side after losing the world cup….or England playing the better cricket after losing the ashes.
I hope Leinster do win everything this year, but to claim to be the best you need to beat the best.
