At her age and position she should have played another 2 to 3 years retired at 28 to see just how many more slams she could win . long time retired and plenty of years left for family and other business and fun
The Barty party is over but there's no hangover, just happiness for Australia's most humble champion
pretty impressive at 41 tests hes averaging 21.48 and the only major Aussie bowler just shading him on averages is Alan Davidson who was incredible over 44 tests . At 40 tests we can start to take Cummins test average as pretty special . still a long way to go but Cummins shades McGrath and lillee on averages at a slightly premature amount of test matches played . Think lillee played around 77 matches and McGrath 123 matches off top of my head .
Captain fantastic! Pakistan lose 7-20 as Cummins, Starc spark stunning collapse to put Aussies in command
Cummins leading by example . one hell of a cricketer . on par to end right there with lillee and McGrath on averages as one of the top 5 Australian bowlers (and most certainly pace bowlers) for Australia but still a ways to go in his career and where he ends up in top 5 is up for grabs

more like Sean marsh in aus tests for a period a few years ago should have been given another go given his shield form in aus (on Aus wickets) but ageism was always the excuse not to select him again as he struck very good form with bat again as he got older . we lost to India a second time when he was in very good form again the year before ..and probably nic maddinson could have been closer to a start in the middle order given he was a top shield scorer like khawaja coming in to last summer although head deserved his place but once again abroad that is becoming questionable at the moment. he needs to perform second innings and Sri Lanka that’s for sure . Harris had his chances at test level each year it seems for continued failure so never really not selected as kept getting starts only for labuschange to end up opening for him due to his dire starts . warner of course gets selected no matter how poor hisnform is particularly overseas. khawaja has certainly worked and should have been selected earlier than he was on his shield form last year
'Felt absolutely horrible': Khawaja reveals drama behind century near miss, backs Smith to rise again
good to hear I have not seen all his innings obviously he’s going to be selected for next tour but he needs to find some runs next tour in Sri Lanka
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
yes although I notice he faced 12 overs this time . 8, 23, 26 highly concerning considering the batting road first and batting first in the last two tests . An average of 19 is concerning for tour
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
he was reckless last test and now out early again this test . not good Jeff . we all know he’s got excellent ability on Aussie wickets but on tour big question marks remain and he’s had three tests to get it right now
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
rowdy it’s hilarious how there is any talk on smith and his failure to convert 50s to 100s . if he makes 50 an innings then he’s one of our best . the microscope needs to be on warner abroad and head reigning in his flashy style abroad . both are not playing near as well when they tour away from aus
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
if he’s consistently making 50 plus an innings then he’s one of our best
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
understandable martin no doubting head was fantastic over the summer . my concern is he needs to really reign in his style of batting when on tour it’s to streaky and reckless exactly like his uk ashes tour . perhaps it might be appropriate when Aus are well in front and want quick runs but not first innings . the bigger worry right now is warner abroad . I’ve anticipated he would be under watch this series after his last foreign tour as he clearly bats well in Australia but has definitely lost his way and is slower in compiling his runs since the India tour of Australia . No doubt they will perservere with him abroad but at what cost . if he doesn’t tour well in Sri Lanka surely he shouldn’t go to India
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
martin you can’t seriously be saying smith is much worse than head now though . once again head is too agressive and reckless on foreign tours . did the same in uk ashes and who is shining of foreign tour yet again: Steve Smith .head has to get his well for want of a better word, head together when touring . it has been poor this series to say the least from head . not good enough and no excuses . he can get away with the agression on home pitches in aus . warner is indeed a disaster abroad since uk ashes
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
he’s not batting well abroad yet again though James . too reckless and agressive as he was in uk ashes for most part . he has some issues to resolve for test cricket on foreign soil
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
head replicating his foreign tour form in uk , way to agressive Almost negligent yet again . perhaps he is better on Australian pitches as he was very good in the summer but he does play test cricket to aggressively on foreign decks
DAY 1 REPORT: Khawaja leads way again but misses ton, Smith squanders another start as century drought continues
khawaja an example of why you let your best shield players back in to the side no matter the age, so many didn’t want him selected he was my opener or first drop from beginning of last summer it took an injury for him to be selected

catches win matches indeed
The Liebke Report Card: 'It would have made the entire commentary box’s heads explode'
of anything it’s a D for out catching second innings . catches win matches and it pretty much decided this one along with some unfortunate drs calls
The Liebke Report Card: 'It would have made the entire commentary box’s heads explode'
I’d agree tempo . we dropped a key catch yesterday which did have a huge effect on match but it doesn’t mean smith should be moved given his record in slips or Cummins should have declared. Azam also had ridiculous luck pre close of play could so easily have been out. so we do know with a better moment of cricket fielding and better luck with two french cuts missing stumps by cms Pakistan would be at least 4 wickets down and no one would be whinging on here really . to summarise “that’s cricket”
Babar Azam makes Aussies sweat as fighting ton takes second Test into fifth day
well that’s settled . people on here saying his slips catching is fading but I’ve seen him take some screamers in last two years. so let’s put this down to a bad day of fielding by a few players . Carey kept beautifully for the record

historically starc waivers as the series go on. fox or Channel had a compelling analysis on how his average often falls away from test three onwards in Australia . he did bowl well first innings though here . surely he’s rested or rotated test 3 on what may be the biggest spinning wicket of the tour
Babar Azam makes Aussies sweat as fighting ton takes second Test into fifth day
I have to say alot of people wouldn’t be commenting here If smith had held that catch . perhaps a debate should be should smith be moved out of the slips cordon rather than all this declaration fodder as 3 down before tea yesterday could have been 5 or more wickets down by close . could it just be Australia didn’t take its catches . Cummins also a bit unlucky with newer ball early on yesterday and late yesterday azam was riding nine lives with repeated french cuts . he was ridiculously lucky not to be out

I think head is a watch still but you can’t drop him but so far hes failed miserably touring abroad here . is he stronger in Aussie wickets ? are smith and Carey better on foreign less bouncy wickets since uk ashes ? aus hasn’t toured much but I had this theory watching them all in uk ashes three years ago and it’s still something to observe as aus plays abroad again (finally)
Babar Azam makes Aussies sweat as fighting ton takes second Test into fifth day
yep they’ve all dissapeared the know it all’s on day 3
Babar Azam makes Aussies sweat as fighting ton takes second Test into fifth day
the goat is best on Aussie bouncy pitches and some uk pitches Aus has to look at other spinners on subcontinent as well as Lyon and stop the go to dependancy on him as auto selection. swepson has bowled well and I’ve advocated his selection for two years now he should have played some matches before this tour
Babar Azam makes Aussies sweat as fighting ton takes second Test into fifth day
the goat is best on bouncy Aussie pitches and some of the English pitches. Australia has to look more broadly at spinners on subcontinent it’s that simple

nope she was number 1 and If you have ability to win 5 plus slams you go in to the immortal books in tennis I think . I know it’s a fine effort to date extraodianry but to leave slams on the table at 25 now the world is opening up …I can imagine with her running game and size it might get harder Ina. few years but she’s at her peak and has a few more slams in her at least and so much time in life . long time retired
