Looking to their future, I can only see Cripps reaching the statues of Dusty, Danger and Fyfe winning a Brownlow, Oliver and Kelly are good but Cripps Brownlow is ultimately inevitable.

Deciding between Kelly, Cripps and Oliver

Brendon Goddard has been one of the best pick ups Essendon has gotten the past 10 providing quality leadership and defence to an ever struggling Essendon lineup. Goddard’s footy smarts have helped Essendon progress and transition into a new branded footy club over the past five years. But like every great player, leader, coach or umpire there is a expiry date. He still performs, but has costly mistakes that decide games, yes every player has them but it is soon becoming a costly habit for Goddard and his woes. I think he should retire and pave the way for one of Essendon’s up and coming rookies or a draft pick, still being provided the opportunity to apply his expertise to the coaching panel at Essendon as James Kelly did, maybe even mentoring his young replacement. At still a young age he could continue his career playing for Essendon’s VFL side or following the footsteps of many retirees before him and going back to grassroots footy to entertain the local crowd.
