Time for the Sydney teams to be removed from the NRC and move on without them.

Perhaps in a few years they’ll want back in, but at the moment they are far more trouble than they are worth

The NRC bridge must be kept open. That was the whole point…

I dunno if this is all that new, I remember my dad complaining that the small town clubs and poor kids never got a look in back in the 80s.

Rugby in New Zealand is at risk of becoming an elite game

**Apparently there has been “some criticism over a lack of opportunity for older players from the provincial competition to win a Super Rugby chance with Waratahs spots often locked up before the tournament begins.”**

Yet another NSW problem to which the rest of us must provide a solution?

What difference does it make to the Waratahs anyway?
They select players based on who your dad is and what school you went to don’t they?

There must be incentives to play in the NRC

It was ridiculous wasn’t it CH?
Hooper was not only fighting against Hodgson (and getting whupped) he was also trying to do the job of the inside backs and fullback.

How about pooku?

Pronounced ‘puku’ of course!

The fact it’s seen as a positive is the problem, they all should be

“Why on earth would Cheika deny the inspirational, x-factor fullback Folau the full field to strut his stuff by slotting him onto the wing with a quarter of the field to move in?”

Because as a fullback he is a liability

Izzy on the wing - no, no, no!

It’s possible he carries it all in his bum and thigh muscles I suppose

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

Yeah that’s just daft – I made the comment before I looked at the rest of the team tbh

I rarely make predictions about the Wallabies

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

Quite simply actually. Are they running after the ball or jogging / walking? Do they run in support or dawdle?

I have an image burnt into my brain of Hooper outrunning both Folau and Beale to make a desperate goal line tackle against the Force in 2017 – they couldn’t be bothered

Read didn’t captain the Crusaders this year

I would have guessed the same when I met him Matt – he’s a head or so shorter than I am and not massively buff

It’s not Pocock’s fault his franchise picked the wrong captain.

Phipps? Might explain his rubbish passing

Pocock to 7, DHP to 15

I thought that was obvious, sorry

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

Probably a result of the national team deeming them unnecessary

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

No way Hooper is 101 kg

I think DHP has been pretty good, don’t know enough about Banks to really comment, but at least we have positional awareness and a kicking game at 15 with DHP

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

I think there are plenty of 9s being ignored for Phipps without moving someone else out of position

100% I have great respect for him – he’s often been the only one giving 100% in both the Waratahs and Wallabies

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

It’s beyond ridiculous that we need to wait for injuries to players to get the right selections.

Speedy recovery Hooper, let’s hope that Cheika has a proper look after this game at how to utilise he and Pocock

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

“He definitely doesn’t beat the first tackle almost every time.”

I would disagree with that, his little shimmy or spin almost always gets him past the first bloke.

The kick was a bad call, but as the commentators said at the time, the winger who ran to the outside position didn’t call for the ball, he thought he was the last man. Folau would have gone into contact and likely lost the ball, DHP did what a fullback does and kicked for territory.

“And if he plays good enough in Super Rugby, then he’ll get an opportunity I’d imagine like any other player.”

“Well enough”, Michael. If he plays well enough.

Sheesh
