Love the Ashes

Dhawan hasn’t played Australia since the 2015-16 tour, where (as Franctony points out) he performed admirably. So, how is he Australia’s bunny? Oh, I see. You made it up!

India's ODI batting is monstrous

So much for elite honesty. LOL

Justin Langer furious over Glenn Maxwell questions

Bit harsh, q. They lost their chief sandpaperer!

Six talking points from Australia vs India fourth Test

Not true, Don. Lyon’s ODI economy rate is 4.83 compared to Agar’s 5.75 RPO. In fact, Lyon betters Agar in average and strike rate as well. That’s why, as 13th Man said, Lyon is a better alternative. But hey, I love the way you make up $h*t!

Australia make plenty of surprising changes in ODI squad to face India

Happy New Year to you David. With respect to the Ashes winning 2001 team, Lyon, Starc, Cummins & Hazlewood might arguably be a match to Warne, Lee, Gillespie & McGrath and Smith & Warner could conceivably replace S Waugh and Matt Hayden. However, there are no current Aussies capable of filling the boots of Slater, Ponting, M Waugh, Martyn & Gilchrist. Not even close! Katich got 1 test too and Hussey, Bevan, Fleming & Symonds also toured. The Aussies had 5 warm up games as well. No such luxuries these days. So, I’ll happily predict another Pommie win 🙂

My bucket list for 2019

Don baiting, Bear? 😉

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

I have a couple of theories for the apparent selection madness. Firstly, I think the selectors are reluctant to bring better players into the test team, as it would naturally weaken the BBL contest, which is their money maker. Secondly, I think that by having a deliberately poor test team, with its inevitably poor showing, will have the Australian public baying for the return of Warner & Smith. Remember, it was not so long ago that many Australian cricket enthusiasts were aghast at the thought of exposed cheats coming back into the team, especially Warner! My observations of fellow Roarers’ comments suggest this opinion is waning fast.

While I write this with some tongue in cheek, can anyone give any better reasons why obvious candidates are being ignored when, as Ronan writes “So farcical is this squad that it contains four players who inarguably did not deserve selection and another who is fortunate to be included.”?

Nice one, Steve. Witty article yet so brutally honest…

The top ten excuses for Mitch Marsh’s failures at Test level

How d’you know he’s chubby?

The top ten excuses for Mitch Marsh’s failures at Test level

The article states “…former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith admitted he walked away despite knowing about the plot to sandpaper the ball in Cape Town.”

My understanding was that he knew Warner & Bancroft were up to no good, but he chose to turn a blind eye and actually told them, “I don’t want to know about it.” In which case he didn’t know about the plot to sandpaper the ball. He’s right in saying he showed poor leadership and he accepted the 12 month ban. Warner on the other hand is a cheat and a grub who should never play for Australia again!

A remorseful Steve Smith comes clean

If the pitch is as bad as it was last year, the ICC could potentially ban it from international cricket for a year. It’s disappointing to read that it was still lifeless in the last Shield match. Oh well, we’ll see…

Sleepy MCG pitch would favour Australia

I agree that anything could happen, but Oz are firm favourites at a $1.40 to India’s $4.00
They shouldn’t lose from here and India are very reliant on a handful of in form batmen, with their tail way too long for a modern test team…

Indian quicks leave Australia battered and bruised

Hi Span 🙂

It can only get better for the baggy greens

What does morality have to do with it? The players are not being forced into it. They have agreed to play. Plenty of people are bored or lonely at christmas. I’m sure they’d welcome some entertainment.

Big Bash given Christmas Day okay – report

I’m with Paul & Liam on this one. A left arm wrist spinner’s stock ball is an off break. The mirror image of Warne the leggie. However, Warne’s googly turns from off to leg, while Yadav’s turns from leg to off, referred to as a chinaman googly. To be honest, I can’t believe you don’t know this. Don obviously doesn’t even realise he bowls left handed. To say a wrist spinner is a leg spinner is ridiculous, as it depends if they’re left or right handed, i.e. right handed wrist spin is a leg break and left hand wrist spin is an off break.

India's mystery spinner is coming for Australia

You cannot compare using a lolly to assist in the allowed practice of applying saliva and sweat to polish a ball to using sandpaper to rough the other side up. There isn’t any other way of roughing a ball up except by out and out cheating. That is the scandal, David…

The ICC is still pondering ball-tampering suspensions

Might as well make Don Freo coach… 🙂

Justin Langer's WA bias perception will haunt him

Absolutely. You’re not telling me a fast bowler would bowl a ball and when it was returned to him after a good sandpapering wouldn’t notice the difference…

Maxwell reveals Test squad's despair

Cricket Australia are a joke. Protect themselves at all costs. It’s everyone below them that’s to blame. Yeah right!…

CONFIRMED: Cricket Australia hands down lengthy suspensions to Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft

Always liked and admired Steve Smith. Very disappointed for him. Such a massive error of judgement leading to this awful fall from grace. Couldn’t give two hoots about Warner though. Always was a grub!

Did you call me the other day?

The integrity of Australian cricket is in tatters

Due to the covered pitch pre-game, whoever bowled first was always going to win. Australia took that advantage and then made a meal of it to win the game. Wouldn’t get too excited just yet. England would have kicked ass had they bowled first. Anyway, nice to see Aussies win on Straya Day…if you’re still allowed to celebrate that!
