This is indeed a pathetically regressive move by the selectors to make Smith as the ODI captain. Smith as an ODI player has his best days behind him and it wouldn’t have surprised many if he was not selected as a player even in the ODI team. It is absolutely unfair and cruel that the sandpaper scandal has literally ended dreams of Cameron Bancroft in replacing Warner in the test team, but it has not at all impacted Smith becoming skipper again !? What a farce!
Travis Head should have been the choice to lead the ODI team. A fine opportunity lost.

Tom Curran is damn lucky to scrap through with a mild punishment. His disgusting act and later his stupid justification deserved at least ONE year ban from all First class cricket coupled with hefty monetary penalty. His so called remorse and asking for forgiveness came only after he and his team realised they had been caught pants down. World cricket lost an opportunity to redeem itself in showing that the game is greater than few arrogant individuals.

These fees for Starc and Cummins are ridiculous. They are not that good, in T20, to deserve such insane compensation. Remember last years costliest buy Sam Curran ? He had a mediocre outing during last years IPL and didn’t do that well in this years auction. I foresee similar fate for Starc and Cummins.

Comparison is incorrect. Sandpapergate is at totally different level. Australian Cricket’s image has never fully recovered after this scandal.

Johnson has some valid reasoning. It is not just David Warner , but also the other two actors in the disgraceful ball tampering scandal, Mr Smith and Mr Bancroft who also should also never be considered for selection in any Aussie team.

I would like Travis Head to immediately take over as the Boss. ( No disrespect to Pat Cummins). It would be also be a bold decision to keep the infamous trio of Smith, Warner and Bancroft out of selection consideration from now on. There are a few contenders for the VC role. It would be good if Travis Head is consulted before selecting the VC. I personally believe, with all due respect to Cummins, his bowling has suffered a little bit after he became the skipper. Without the Captainship responsibility, he would blossom and potentially extend his illustrious career.

He should retire immediately from all forms of cricket. This will definitely benefit Australian Cricket.
