Yes, it seems he has already moved on from this incident; his responses on social media have been as positive as ever. He really is a mentally tough son of a gun.

I doubt he’ll win the French, the NextGen are coming now, and he’ll be a year older next year. I still say it’s more likely than not that he’ll overtake Federer in the Slam tally.

Djokovic is a relic of the past, caught in a changing time

Yes that’s the fascinating thing- perhaps like a tortured artist driven to be loved, Dkokovic’s striving for something that will never be granted to him, has pushed him to extraordinary heights.

I used the words ‘provocateur’ and ‘aggravator’ in the article; I think all along that is what he really wanted to be. He didn’t just want to be loved, he wanted to tennis world to see things the way he does.

Yep, you got me. Afghans and Sri Lankans are by far the worst sledgers. It’s a proven fact.

Australia on a dangerous wicket with sledging double-standards

Exactly. This is what many Aussie fans don’t seem to understand. That Australia brings this wherever they go. There might be a bit of sledging between other nations, but it is rarely of the magnitude that we see almost every series involving Australia.

Kohli leads his teammates, he doesn’t hide behind them.

I don’t necessarily agree with your opinion that the Aussies cop it regularly without complaint. But if it was the case, then it reiterates the fact that Warner is a bad ambassador for Australian cricket.

He is, after all, the vice captain.

Australia on a dangerous wicket with sledging double-standards

Warner chose to be restrained by teammates? So he said ‘please Uzzie, hold me back’? Interesting

When they don’t pick players based on merit or domestic form, they shouldn’t blame people for going elsewhere to play cricket with and against great overseas players

CA should tax any contracted player headed to the IPL

Thank you BennO

Bernard Tomic: A lost young man in need of guidance

Great fight by Cilic but Federer again showed he is a class above when he needs to be! Let’s see whether his motivation wanes at all now they he’s reached an unbelievable 20 slams

Federer is nowhere near finished

They’re playing against each other though, not Rafa.

Pat Cash is right. Women should play five sets in grand slam finals

Paine was definately preferable to Wade. Let’s see how M Marsh goes in the future, on pitches that aren’t flat.

I still think they messed up with Renshaw, who could’ve been a great opener for years. Hopefully his confidence isn’t too shattered and they haven’t put a line through him.

Australian selectors have gone rogue and the consequences are showing

Hey Nudge,
Would have picked Nevill for first test.

Would have not dropped Renshaw as well, him or Bancroft could’ve batted in the middle order.

I would have picked Maxwell instead of Mitch Marsh.

Australian selectors have gone rogue and the consequences are showing

Remember Lynn was still recovering from injury and could barely throw a ball when selected over Maxwell, arguably the best fielder in the country.

Yet we unfortunately see and hear from Lehmann far too much. For someone who seems to think Maxwell is a show off, he loves putting his face out there.

Thanks Marfu.

I think Australia’s bowling might fare OK in South Africa, but the uncertainty they have created at the top of the order has been unnecessary. Renshaw has a century and 3 half centuries in 10 tests, yet was dropped and seemingly hasn’t been spoken of again.

What if Bancroft fails in the first test? Does he go into the heap of openers discarded, along with Burns and Renshaw? They’ve created a dangerous precedent

Thanks for the reply Paul. Yes, communication is the thing that is lacking.

I think Australia’s results in England last time were disappointing. Warne even criticized Lehmann overriding his duties and unduly undermining Clarke’s captaincy.

A win England would make me see Lehmann in a more favourable light.

Australian selectors have gone rogue and the consequences are showing

The attitude towards Maxwell is what I find to be the most infuriating. As if totally disrespecting him publicly is some righteous thing to do, and will somehow motivate him to change his personality to appease those in the boys club.

Australian selectors have gone rogue and the consequences are showing

My apologies, 2-1. Impressive, but ultimately not a win

Australian selectors have gone rogue and the consequences are showing

‘Bashed’ was a compliment to the powerful nature of that 100 in Perth.

It backfired because Aus are down 3-0 and Cameron White looked totally unfit for the job that they picked him for- a job Maxwell would’ve been perfect for.

Maxwell has been making runs all season so you can’t say him continuing to make runs is due to him being omitted.

You make a point with the India series, but if Lehmann is counting a 2-0 loss (albeit with some extremely close matches) as a pass mark for him, then he doesn’t hold himself to as high a standard as he expects from the players.

Thanks for your comment though, I appreciate the feedback- I’m always looking to get better.

I would’ve thought Jon Holland, who’s had consistently good results, seeing himself overlooked for a guy who averages 45 in first class cricket with the ball, would think it’s a big deal.

Also, Khawaja, who was rewarded for a terrific series against the Proteas in 2016/17 with being dropped for the subcontinent. I think every cricketing great I heard in commentary this summer mentioned how ridiculous of it was to have a different number 3 for home and Subcontinental tests.

Richardson has played a handful of first class matches. You’d hate for him to break down in a test match because he hasn’t got enough 4 day experience.

Perhaps the point that I didn’t emphasize enough is that trust is eroding between the players and the selectors, as players are being picked/dropped on whims rather than logic.

You’re right, he does have to start going deeper In slams- especially Wimbledon. He hasn’t made a quarter in over 2 years now. Hence his ranking of 20, which should be top 10.

If he doesn’t make a quarter or semi this year at a slam, you have to wonder if he has the stamina- mental and physical.

Don't count on France, but it's semi-finals or bust at Wimbledon for Nick Kyrgios

@Pete
thank you mate, I appreciate you reading!

Kyrgios is the athlete Australian sport needs

@Jeff
I don’t think you put much thought into your comment at all. You seem to have stopped mid sentence.

It’s not a couple of wins, it’s a couple of months of play- 2 matches against Djokovic, 2 matches against Zverev, matches against big names like Karlovic and Goffin, the Federer epic, and now the impressive Davis Cup matches.

Kyrgios is the athlete Australian sport needs

Would think so regarding Raonic and Wawrinka, but not sure about Nadal at this stage of his career!
