for the trifecta.

A mug punter’s guide to the Melbourne Cup

That was a decent right hand that the late Ross Henrick threw in 1980, even though he would have been 10 stone dripping wet. Not sure which Souths player wore it.

The all-in brawls of yesteryear

It was a brave, career ending call from from the local Indian umpire too in just his second Test. He never got another one after making that decision but he is a part of a big moment in cricket history. An incredible game.

Would love to see Kurt Gidley win a grand final at last, it would be some consolation for missing out at Newcastle for all those years.

Super League grand final preview

Should be a great game, I am backing Redcliffe in a close one. The Qld Cup games are always great to watch, hope a good crowd gets out to Suncorp on Sunday.

Dolphins vs Bears: Queensland Cup grand final preview

I’m tipping the Joker to get back to the winner’s list in the men’s, he should be hungry after Wimbledon and the Olympics. In the women’s, even though it is Serena’s backyard, I’m tipping a 4th different major winner for this year. Simona Halep was semi finalist at Flushing Meadows last year and is young and on the rise.

Who will win the US Open?

I think the Warriors will finish on 28 points at best, and that their for and against will cost them a spot in the finals.

That match was a great preview of a likely finals match up in September, and maybe even the big one in October. Throw JT back in the mix and it would be hard to split the two teams.

Great to see the green machine in the top 4, it’s been a long time!

Highlights: Raiders win a golden point thriller

I hope Day can add his name to the list of Aussies who have won it. Dustin Johnson is in good form though and I have a feeling Rory McIlroy is due. I think it will be one of those 3.

That loss leaves the Panthers vulnerable in terms of making the 8. They have already had both byes, and they have to play top 8 teams for the next 4 weeks.

Not that I can see it happening this year, but I would find it really hard to stomach ever seeing Kyrgios’ name added to the list of great Australian Wimbledon champions until he grows up. In the men’s this year, it’s hard to go past the Joker. In the women’s, it would be great to see Serena equal Steffi Graf’s record. She doesn’t have a lot of time left though and I just wonder if time may be finally catching up with her.

Who will win at Wimbledon in 2016?

Good to see the game being taken to the Top End. It would have been an important win for the Eels, but they still have the loss of 12 competition points hanging over their head.

Highlights: Eels get another win, downing the Titans by 10

Ali was the greatest in a golden heavyweight era. The Frazier trilogy were all classics and to beat both Foreman and Liston (twice) confirms his legacy. I can’t separate those fights, they were all brilliant performances in an amazing career. RIP champ, you will never be forgotten.

The Dragons looked much better with Nightingale at fullback, he should be there every week. Play Dugan in the centres.

Highlights: Dragons return to top eight with win over weakened Cowboys
