12 games or less in 2017:

Crameri (not offered contract for 2018), Wallis, Jong, Roughead, Tom Boyd, Matthew Boyd, Adams, Cloke, Dickson, Redpath, Smith and Dunkley.

Fair reason why the team couldn’t get it together for another run.

In 2016 they might have able to ride the injury wave, but it was too much in 2017.

The magnitude of the Grand Final win last year gets underplayed, not like any normal flag, for a young group it was emotionally draining.

“Greene lead up the ball to take an uncontested mark”

I stopped reading at this because it was a handball receive and not an uncontested mark. You’d think The Roar editors would know this fact.

You can’t fend off a tackle after receiving a handball with a high hand to the face, what makes kicking a bloke in the head any different?

Does the MRP have a backbone? We’re about to find out

Pies aren’t as bad as their record. Things falling into place late, could still finish with some good form heading into next season.

Great all round performance from the Dogs today.

Great start to the second half for the Tigers!

Gold Coast Titans vs Wests Tigers NRL live scores, blog

Best game I have seen from the team all season. Pressure was right up again, defensive setup behind the ball superb. Three wins in a row and hopefully keep it going.

Bulldogs bite late to beat Bombers

28-years-old is the peak time for a sportsperson. If Rose can stay fit he will work well for Lebron and the Cavs, its a big if though.

Derrick Rose headed to Cleveland on one-year deal

Not first time. I have done similar to this writer.

There are plenty of CFL fans in Oz.

Canadian Football League 2017: Week 5 talking points

Since 2004 the EPL has had 25 different teams out of a possible 39 promoted from the Championship. Hardly the same clubs bouncing up and down.

The NRL should be relocating, but who goes?

Called for Bailey Dale to stay in the team since the loss to Geelong at Kardinia Park. Has been superb all season.

Seven quick takes from AFL Round 18

I am probably the only Chievo supporter in Australia.

Have always loved watching Italian football, from Serie A through to C. I used to subscribe to the RAI Channel through Foxtel, didn’t understand Italian but enjoyed watching matches anyway.

And that continues today, with the help of BeIn Sports we don’t have to try and find dodgy online streams.

Remembering when Serie A was the best league in the world

Not to out a dampener on this, but the AFL got 151k+ in Round 1 this season for two games across the space of three days and both in Melbourne.

Two sell-out games confirm Arsenal will return sooner rather than later

I do believe Bucks will stay on in 2018. There probably isn’t any clear replacement for him, plus I don’t see Eddie and the board making and rash decision without a plan in place.

Buckley could earn new Pies deal: McGuire

What I found interesting was the media using the term “younger women” when talking about the situation.

Not sure what they were trying to get across with this. Felt bizarre to me.

Disgraced AFL senior executives apologise

If I recall correctly Melbourne Knights built there current main grand stand by themselves as people in the club donated their time to doing it.

Fan labour the answer to football's stadia problems

The Dogs lost by 59 points last Friday night to Adelaide even though they were:

+ 21 Clearances
+ 3 Inside 50s
+ 6 Contested Possessions

What they lacked was clean entry into the forward line, which was highlighted by only taking nine marks inside 50.

If the Dogs can tidy up this area of their game it will go a long way to beating Carlton.

Stats preview: Carlton Blues vs Western Bulldogs

For many supporters of European teams these tours are great for any fan, not many people get the chance to travel and actually see their teams in the flesh. Hope more teams follow the likes of Arsenal, Juve etc…

Seeing Arsenal in Sydney was a childhood dream come true

From an AFL perspective I would probably throw Tom Harley into the conversation. While not necessarily a great player – he was very good – he was probably much better as a leader.

Professional captains: Men who were better leaders than players

Thanks for reading the comments thoroughly, Darren.

Liam Jones is the best story of the 2017 AFL season

Can’t see the eight changing myself, West Coast are no longer the strong powerhouse at home and the other teams outside the eight are either not playing well enough or too inconsistent.

If the Dogs win five of their last six that would be a great result for the defending champs heading into the off season.

Your AFL team's run home: Part II

Good point about the amount of stoppers. He does still have age on his side, with both Rowe and Silvangi (who was an elevated rookie) will both be turning 31 next year.

If Jones can continue to intercept mark, and rebound from defensive 50 it would be hard to see him move out of the team.

Thanks for the comment, Ken.

I was a supporter of Jones at the Dogs, under the guidance of Barry Hall early he showed really good signs up forward. Once Hall left and we were looking for a new key forward, I think Jones struggled with the #1 tag.

With his ability to read the play going down back has been the terrific move.

Sadly for Rose, injuries and form have seen the NBA past him in the blink of an eye.
