Why is it scary? The Bible was written by men (exclusively men) and not any deity. The version you probably have (the King James Version) was rewritten and first published in the 1600s. You might want to think about how often the Bible has been edited and exactly who decided which books were kept in or left out.

Of course if they really are Christian they will run those programs even if they pay tax because their scripture implores them to freely give to those in need (I’m paraphrasing of course).

You have invalidated your own argument with your own post.
The scientific community does change stance based on new evidence. That is because all scientific positions are based on evidence presented through the pillars of the scientific method being “observable, measurable, repeatable”. When they uncover new evidence and it has been appropriately corroborated, the scientific community puts out statements telling everyone about the change.
Religions all ask for “faith” in spite of evidence.
Religions are welcome and able to change their stance. I for one, would welcome a Christian Archbishop or an Islamic Cleric standing up and repudiating any or all of the Bible or Koran as nothing more than a codification of the acceptable behaviours of the time it was written by the men representing our faith, but that it is no longer relevant to our society or our faith. None do.

I’ve been watching news sites looking for an Opinion piece that raises this point. I’ve been rather astonished that no-one has written it until now. I’ve been less astonished that no politician has had the common sense to stand up and say it and force the conversation that Australia should have, namely:
What place do religions (all religions) have in contemporary Australian society?
For clarity, my opinion is that they have none.
Regardless of whether my opinion is in the majority or a fringe minority, the discussion should be had, because organised religions and their institutions have exemptions from discrimination laws and tax laws that the rest of us do not enjoy. The status of religion as (forgive the description) a sacred cow needs to be re-examined and debated and not just accepted as a given.

No way the Warriors underachieved. More importantly, the ‘dynasty’ might be over because they won’t be in the finals next year, but this era of the Warriors is not, they still have at least one more Finals run in them in my opinion the AD trade notwithstanding (even if Durant leaves – and in my estimation the Thomson injury makes it more likely that Durant leaves – that still holds true).
I did want to add a few of points of consideration to the discussion though:
(1) The 2015 title was heavily influenced by injuries. If Love and Kyrie are both healthy, that series could easily have been the Cav’s. Given, as you put it, the best player of the generation was in his prime, a split of the 2015 and 2016 titles seems about right.
(2) In 2017, that Cavs team was historically offensively brilliant. The numbers are staggering, had they not run into a team starting four all-stars, they probably win the title. Durant (as Windhorst likes to put it) gives them an MVP in reserve and a massive margin for error that no other team has.
(3) Regarding the point about the Warriors’ luck in being healthy for their finals runs until this year. I am not certain it was all luck. Remember they let their head of performance therapy and recovery leave at the start of the season because they wouldn’t pay her what she wanted…talk about chickens coming home to roost.
(4) Kawhi Leonard, Kingslayer. LeBron’s Heat were trying to three peat and got taken down by a Kawhi Finals MVP performance with the Spurs. Durant’s Warriors were trying to three-peat and got taken down by a Kawhi Finals MVP performance with the Raptors. Sure there were other factors, but the man is a killer.

The reason religion is a choice is that no one is born religious. You have it indoctrinated into you by parents / communities.
If you are never exposed to it, you are inherently atheist, not inherently religious – you have to be taught to believe the fairy tale (and the specific fairy tale amongst the 7000 or so religions there have been).

I have to disagree, Tim Cahill’s time has not passed.
What the Socceroos lack, and sorely, is a genuine striker. A guy with the nous and instincts to find the back of the net off half chances and ricochets at the four-yard line. Tim Cahill is that guy – he is the only one Australia has. The Socceroos created a plethora of chances but did not have the finishing polish. They need someone who has the knack for slipping the ball past the keeper. When Nabbout went down, that was the time Australia needed Cahill’s magic.
Even if you disagree with that, you have to consider the emotional lift he gives the team – I can’t help but think van Marwijk doesn’t get (or doesn’t believe) that. Conservatism of the coach in keeping Kruse on and not putting in Cahill cost Australia.

James has been talking all Finals about smart, high basketball IQ players. Rondo is the smartest player in the NBA and could be brought back on the taxpayer MLE. Stagger the minutes so that either James or Rondo is on the floor all the time and you have an elite passer with massive basketball IQ running your offence.
The Pelicans have to give up one or both of Solomon Hill or Nikola Mirotic but to have Rondo-Holiday-James-Davis plus someone as your starting lineup, that is an elite two-way team.
Of course rings may not be his number one priority.
