Kangaroos jump the fence to Ballarat

It looks like the North Melbourne Kangaroos might have finally found a second home. Eureka!, cried Kangaroos president James Brayshaw, as the Victorian Premier in full election mode seized an opportunity to win some votes in the bush by promising to spend $30 million in Ballarat.

Did the ARL spit the dummy over Folau?

A recent Daily Telegraph headline beamed: “Folau barred from running water for Tonga”. Apparently ARL boss Geoff Carr has become involved to ensure that Folau will not even be allowed to assist his home country as a trainer/water boy in the Four Nations.

Do Grand Final ratings justify expansion?

The AFL must be delighted with the television ratings generated in both Sydney and Brisbane from the replayed 2010 grand final. With two Victorian teams going head-to-head in the AFL and two NSW teams in the NRL, this removed the parochial factor that so often clouds the debate between AFL and NRL over grand final […]

Great Pic.

AFLW semi-finals match previews and predictions

Technically the ICC can act. But they won’t strip the most famous cricket ground in the world behind Lords of a cricket test. A lot of unrealistic dreamers here.

If the Perth pitch was ‘average’, the MCG is diabolical

You’re forgetting Etihad as well for AFL, plus AAMi park for rectangle football codes. There is one decent stadium in Adelaide.
The AFL Grand Final would get 250,000 if the stands could hold it and you would be happy watching ants run around. The old VFL had serious plans to upgrade Waverley park to 160,000 at one stage.
How many do they get for the Adelaide Cup? and the equivalent Oaks day,etc Tennis, etc

Victorians sure know how to vote with their feet at major sporting events

There is no way the MCG/Melbourne would be stripped of a test. Get a grip lol

If the Perth pitch was ‘average’, the MCG is diabolical

The Boxing Day test is the biggest because its in Melbourne and at the MCG. They go hand in hand, the MCG gives the match its gravitas. Sydney already has the new years test and Jane McGrath day. If Sydney cant produce a good turnout with those extras, moving it to Boxing day wont help.
Need to concentrate on fixing the drop in pitch.

If the Perth pitch was ‘average’, the MCG is diabolical

The biggest problem for AFL in Tassie, is that most fans already have teams from the VFL days, Hence why Nth Melb and Hawthorn cant really make big inroads. Albeit you would hardly call their crowds small for Tassie.
A one team Tasmania would have similar problems for AFL, the A League would not suffer from ‘already have teams’ problem but the north-south divide combined with a small economy and limited entertainment dollars would struggle to support a team.

So it comes down to Hobart or Launceston being able to support team in its own right. This is not a high earning populace.

What should Tasmania call its A-League club?

Disgraceful from soccer fans. Should know better.

Wanderers midfielder Bonevacia accuses Adelaide fans of racist comments

Like the KKK ?

Israel Folau avoids punishment for anti-gay comments following meeting with rugby bosses

Sheek,

There is freedom of speech and hate speech. I think Folau’s comments fall into the latter category.

Maybe the NRL are the outlier.

If the NRL build it, will they come?

C’mon AR they have to rationalize it somehow .

If the NRL build it, will they come?

You keep telling yourself that.

If the NRL build it, will they come?

Cricket has a credibility problem with how its treating ball tampering incidents. Ball tampering is cheating, the ICC should be coming down hard and stamping it out. Why would any sport allow one of its vital components to be regularly compromised?

This is a part of a downward spiral for test cricket and this article is doing little to address it.

Calm yourselves people: Steve Smith’s behaviour isn’t that unusual

bit like the 2017 Grand Final.

Ten quick takes from AFL Round 1

Watson is a class player and person. That’s your issue.

Essendon vs Adelaide: Friday night forecast

Firstly Cat, your dolt comment about a jabbed Watson is a disgrace.

However, i’ll answer your question. Essendon had the second highest ‘home’ crowd average only behind Richmond the premiers in 2017 at 50K. So a membership of 60Kish is not that far out when you consider there are 3 home game memberships for MCG games.

Essendon vs Adelaide: Friday night forecast

no problem. The 4-5 MCG games are home Essendon games.

Essendon vs Adelaide: Friday night forecast

Mary,

I think you are well over playing the impact or distraction of AFLX. It was played over 3 nights and mostly ignored..

Mary's Wonder Women: Free Katie Brennan

Essendon has been at Etihad since it opened in 2000 on a very favorable deal. There are 4-5 games still played at the G with the big Vic rivalries, however against Adelaide in a non final I doubt you would get more than 50K to the G.

Essendon vs Adelaide: Friday night forecast

Agree. Worsfold is under little pressure this year and should be ranked in the 14-18 category.

Under pressure: Every AFL coach's job security ranked

yes great to see. Fave player was Terry Daniher.

Ungarie's big footy a tribute to AFL's big family

One flag in almost 40 years and you talk about respect lol

Looking forward to the Tiger capitulation. You know its going to happen.

Ungarie's big footy a tribute to AFL's big family

yes yes… back to the topic and indeed title of the article which is accurate.

You cant keep blaming the media for the A League’s problems nor a few flares.

Unfair perceptions? Maybe, but it's still time for football to pull its head in

I blame sections of the media for the attack on Hird (its not for here to expand but he attacked Demetriou and the AFL machine went into overdrive).

Essendon stuffed up the governance of their sports science program. Full stop.

Unfair perceptions? Maybe, but it's still time for football to pull its head in

Blaming the media is the easy way out. It’s everyone else’s fault eh?

Unfair perceptions? Maybe, but it's still time for football to pull its head in
