Gillett, Reed, Stagg. Copley and Oates all stayed in Brisbane after shoulder surgery. They were meant to play an easier trial against Redcliffe last night but that was cancelled because of the poor weather.

Good stuff mate. There aren’t enough articles on this site that pay attention to the smaller teams. Keep it up.

Come On You Irons!

Burnley fail to finish and are punished by West Ham

This is a great article, it’s just unfortunate that it had to be written in the first place.

The fact that Erin Molan, probably the most high-profile female sportscaster in rugby league, is considered unimportant enough to be asked these pathetic questions just shows how much ground women have to make up when it comes to being respected as much as their male counterparts.

Erin Molan: Haters gonna hate

Try and watch through “DTV” rather than Foxtel. Channel 73.

Ryan, this article is excellent, but I worry that you’re preaching to the converted here.

10 common sense changes the NRL should make

Rugby league is fantastic. It’s the officials that are at fault.

That comment shows exactly why everyone hates Manly.

I know, I know, you love being hated.

While we’re on the subject of whinging about referees’ decisions, your coach seems to complain more about these sorts of decisions more than any other coach or player. “There needs to be an investigation!” – I rest my case.

I believe that Ten could use a system very similar to the AFL’s interstate free-to-air broadcast rights.

For example, in Queensland, every Lions and Suns game is shown live and in HD on 7Mate.

If Ten showed every Reds game in Queensland, every Rebels game in Victoria and so on, as well as the match-of-the-round from across the ditch or the Indian Ocean, Super Rugby could go much further to encapsulate more fans to support their team.

Hot damn: Free-to-air interest in Super Rugby!

I thought Mebrahtu was only playing in ACL games for the Wanderers, as they weren’t allowed any more players in their A-League squad. What did I miss?

Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers: A-League live scores, blog

Under the marquee system, the FFA pays the wages of each club’s international, Australian and youth marquee players. That’s how Sydney F.C. can pay Del Piero $2mil a season – the money isn’t coming out of their accounts.

The FFA pays the marquees’ wages because Del Piero and Broich help to bring in extra crowds and increase the A-League’s publicity.

Broich, not Berisha, is Brisbane's key man

Well, according to my calculations, Victory aren’t even allowed to speak to Broich until November 2016, so they would have to commit some serious skulduggery to get him there for next season. You are talking next season right?

He could be on anything, given that the FFA are paying his wages, not the Roar. I’d hazard a guess at $600k+.

Broich, not Berisha, is Brisbane's key man

Yeah, Broich is signed until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Berisha is currently on $400 000 a season, which is at least half of what he is worth. I can hardly blame him for leaving, as he deserves the price tag that only a marquee spot can allow for.

Broich, not Berisha, is Brisbane's key man

The hoodoo is broken! I was hoping for 1-0 or 2-1, but never in my wildest dreams would I have anticipated such a convincing scoreline. Go the Roar!

The fly flew straight out though. It thought Pietersen was disgusting.

As well as Bailey, Warner and Smith, Coulter-Nile and Bollinger have also been released to play for the Scorchers and Hurricanes respectively.

OK, I’d also heard that a diamond duck was a first-ball-in-an-innings wicket.

I do like the alternative suggestions though.

Folks, that is a diamond duck! The other form is getting out off 0 balls.

I love this Ashes preview from BBC Sport.

“Anderson is peerless. He is, in effect, three bowlers in one: he takes wickets with the new ball, reverse-swings the old ball and is a master against left-handers.”

Well, he certainly hasn’t showed this “peerless” skill yet, but Perth might be just the ground for him to spring into life. I sure hope not though. Touch wood.

Anderson the most overrated player in Test cricket?

Renegade, these team previews have been great. Without them, I wouldn’t really have a clue about the minnows like the USA and the Cook Islands. They’ve been very good reads, all of them.

Rugby League World Cup preview: Tonga to test world's best

A brilliant, passionately-written article. From a fellow Roar fan, well done.

Why I love the Brisbane Roar way

Cahill was filthy with Osieck when he came off. After the game he was slapping him on the back like an old mate. Funny thing, football.

Socceroos qualify for 2014 World Cup with 1-0 win over Iraq

I am sick of hearing that Paul Gallen is a “victim”, a “champion”, or that he “stood up for his state”. The fact is that repeatedly throwing punches at someone’s face, especially when they have no idea you are going to, is never the right way to retaliate to that person’s poor behaviour. If Paul Gallen was a real man, he’d give Myles a verbal serve condemning his grubby behaviour (which no one has mentioned until now – how strange).

Paul Gallen is the real victim in all this

Laurie Daley called Shane Flanagan and said “If you let these guys play and they get injured, or I’ll make your life a misery for the whole Origin series!”
