Four burning questions for Hawthorn ahead of the AFL restart

Give it a spell. We have heard that rubbish before but no one ever presents any evidence.

Four burning questions for Hawthorn ahead of the AFL restart

I didn’t really want to have a debate about this stuff on a satirical article, it just highlights the ridiculousness of the whinging when even a satirical article about the whinging can’t escape it.
However you asked me a question, so…
There never has been such a thing as an away game for both. Were you advocating that when Melbourne played West Coast in NT? If not, what is the difference?
West Coast were unfortunately required to set up a home base elsewhere and chose Qld. It is not Richmond’s fault. Anyway, with an odd number of games, why don’t you wait and see what the rest of the fixture looks like? West Coast could still end up with 8 Perth home games, 1 Gold Coast home game and 8 away games. 2 of those away games are at their “home away from home”. They could end up with the best draw of any team.

The AFL to apologise for Perth being far away

Sure, when we have a 32 game season you can have 16 home games, until then you can have 11 like everyone else.

Firstly I have always agreed with you that being up and about but not winning Grand Finals is better than not being in with a chance, so I don’t know why you would bring up Richmond’s record to me. However you do need to live for the moment to an extent so I pretty happy right now. (Regardless of any drought, only being a Hawks or Eagles supporter would be clearly better I think. Maybe Geelong.)
Les hardly had a glorified tantrum and I found it an interesting read. You seem to take any criticism of Collingwood personally for some reason, particularly any criticism of your President. Sure, he has done plenty right but there is plenty he could have done better. The good shouldn’t have to come with the bad, so pointing out that many other clubs would be happy to have him doesn’t mean he should be beyond criticism.

If anyone is having a temper tantrum Peter, it is you. Les is entitled to his 15 most irritating moments in 30 or more years of supporting his club and there is some interesting history there. Why do you have to go on the attack? Has nothing your club has ever done bothered you?

The 15 most irritating Collingwood moments of all time: Part 3

As I explained on another article the other day, West Coast should have had the shorter rest in all 4 of those Grand Finals.
In 2018 Richmond (1st) played the first Prelim so they would get the longer break. They lost, but it just meant Collingwood took their place.
Same logic in 2015.
In 2006 Sydney (4th) beat West Coast (1st) in the first week of finals, so it is fair enough that they had the advantage going in to the Prelims.
Similarly in 2005 StKilda knocked off Adelaide (1st) so they had the advantage over Adelaide (who lost to WC) going in to the Prelims.
West Coast should have finished top more often and won the first final when they did.

Well said. I have never heard West Coast seriously complain either or any of the many Western Australians I have met. It seems to be a handful of people just on this site.

You have sent me to Wikipedia again Rowdy. Thanks. Nice to learn something new.

It was a Tiger year, though Claremont didn’t make it. From memory (had to be as it is the only Richmond GF loss I can remember) in 1982 Richmond, Claremont and Glenelg were all runners up.

The 15 most irritating Collingwood moments of all time: Part 3

A great series of articles Les and really interesting from the point of view of a non-Collingwood supporter. Many of those in the first 2 articles are just things that others wouldn’t recall or be aware of.
The succession plan was crazy but it shows the strength of character of Buckley to push on with a divided playing list and come out at the other end of it. But it does seem a wasted opportunity.

The reigning Premiers, Glenelg.

*following not working

The game is too long. Shorter quarters are here to stay

They only shortened by 5 or so minutes. 25 mins plus time on changed to 20 minutes playing time.

The game is too long. Shorter quarters are here to stay

Yeah, it’s more that teams in the bottom 4 know they won’t make it. I should know, I have had plenty of experience working the Tigers.

Nor am I. Can’t speak for spruce. But if you can’t see the irony of someone wrongly assuming something of you when you have wrongly assumed the same of others, you mustn’t know the meaning of the word.
But anyway, I don’t understand the rules here. I joked the reason you might not have found the article funny was because of the place and time you were when you read it, but the comment never made it through. Maybe because I used the word t01L3t?

I think you are off the money there spruce. As far as I understand it, WA has always received less than its share of GST money (like Victoria) because it is tied to what they can collect in mining royalties.

Thanks Rowdy, interesting. If the plan went ahead, I wonder if they would have snipped off a few miles of the western SA border when they finalised boundaries, just for fun. 😁

It is silly when someone assumes you are lonely based on your comments, isn’t it? Do you see the irony?
Nasty is a reasonable conclusion though.

Great satirical article. I can’t believe I missed it when it came out.
I also can’t believe the number of people who used it as an excuse to have yet another whinge. It is a satirical article about your constant whinging, over the past few weeks in particular. By having another whinge, the joke is very much on you.

The AFL to apologise for Perth being far away

Why don’t you lighten up?

Rankings or seedings might be the wrong term, but back to what Kevin said, in 2018 Richmond (1st) played the first Prelim so they would get the longer break. They lost, but it just meant Collingwood took their place. The AFL have no way of forecasting who will win.
I notice that the higher placed home and away team is still named first for Grand Finals, so no one has leap frogged in any rankings.
WC have just been unlucky, that’s all.
(If you ask me, both Prelims should be on Saturday to avoid this. )

The Vic-centric AFL discriminates against WA clubs

You are not wrong about Riewoldt, but you are unfair on Lynch. He started with Richmond having missed the second half of his last season with Gold Coast, plus almost no pre-season and based on what Rance said, he needed to learn a few things coming from Gold Coast. He may have looked slow and cumbersome early on, but I think you must have stopped watching, because he steadily improved.
To answer your question, we were 7 wins, 5 losses without Jack and were 6th when he came back in to the side in round 17. Not that bad. We only lost one (to your lot) with him in the team.
Riewoldt being out coincided with a lot of other injuries so it is hard to say exactly how much it cost us. I am sure without Lynch we would have lost a few of those 7 games as we didn’t have another second forward anywhere near as good. Without him, no top 4 and he also kept us in the QF to half time against Geelong.

PtS I am surprised you would embarrass yourself by bringing up this again. Or do you want to claim you are just fishing?
