No I certainly am not Yattz. 2017 went a long way to erasing that and 2020 finished it off.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

Priddis you are missing my point.
In 2017 when Geelong famously finished above Richmond and then played a final against them at the MCG the following happened:
– Both teams travelled interstate 6 times that year.
– Geelong had 7 true home games compared with Richmond’s 5.
– There one match up in H&A was one of those Geelong true home games.
This was a definite advantage in the draw. Yet Geelong only finished above by half a game and with a lower percentage. True they finished above Richmond but it was a fluke. You can’t tell me that Geelong were better going in to the finals than Richmond.
Geelong played 5 times on the MCG that H&A season. More than enough for that ground to be relatively neutral. All VIC teams play enough on the MCG to have all finals there. Richmond did not deserve to get sent to that ground for a final nor did 50000 supporters deserve to get locked out.
My only criticism is the game should not have been played on a Friday night as it made it hard for Geelong supporters from out of Melbourne to get there.
Edit: And apologies to Wikipedita who I see made a lot of these points already!

Agree to disagree on Geelong. No way I will accept that they get a raw deal owing to their home ground advantage that MCG tenants get less frequently.

But Geelong have a better deal in the H&A season so who cares? You liked my comment on that point so I assume you agree!

Rowdy, think of the fans. I have to go an extra stop and change trains, or go through the loop. And like you say, end up at that hideous stadium. For a home game at that.

Tigers have played in all those places, except Alice

13th Man your historical evidence is selective.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

Agreed.
There are a host of other inequities too. Can you categorically say that Perth teams have it the worst, travel is not the only thing.
As I replied to DTM, I think the team with the best deal is Geelong, but I don’t begrudge them that and it’s very subjective anyway. I don’t think Chris Scott should be having a whinge about Adelaide and Port.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

DTM, for the record, I think Geelong gets the best advantage. True home ground advantage for 9 (?) games, a lot of away games not involving flying and enough MCG games to give them enough experience at the ground for away games and finals. The Chris Scott complaints about home games and finals in nauseating.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

DTM we get your argument but there is a complete disregard by the WA contingent that there are other ways to look at things.
There is no reasonable solution either. Perth is the most isolated city in the world. Teams will need to travel in a national competition.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

But conversely 13thMan you get the big advantage when you don’t travel. If the travel factor is so big and you are a reasonably good team then in theory you can bank 10 home wins. 2 or 3 more against your co- tenant and interstate and you play finals.

They could request a home game there.

Soldo was a good tap ruckman but never did much for us around the ground. I think Nank is a long way ahead of him.

Whatever it takes!

I am not saying it is fair, I am saying North can’t afford to give up a Collingwood away crowd for a game in Tasmania. A West Coast away crowd on the other hand is two-fifths of very little.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

It is still the real world.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

Regardless, you can’t have -2/-1.5 without the opposite in +2/+1.5 the other way. In the end (with such a scoring system) it balances out. Other teams have to travel to Perth for away games you know.

Six Points: Clutch kings do it again, footy's dirtiest player, and debunking 'Vic-centric' fixture myth

You should be careful what you say. Points were for home games. Now you are saying West Coast’s are worth twice as much. Suddenly they have the biggest advantage with a fixture rating of 20 to 21. Oops!

Silly comments Don. You don’t know what was said, so you can’t say the second one was an error.

Mistaken identity? Docker at centre of dissent controversy claims he abused HIMSELF as AFL ticks off drama

I thought it was an interesting anocdote (and no current umpires would speak up) but fair enough, take what you will from a disgraced former umpire.

Mistaken identity? Docker at centre of dissent controversy claims he abused HIMSELF as AFL ticks off drama

Perhaps it tells you about the level of dissent on that one particular case. The AFL wrap or whatever it is called shows how quick the umpire was to pay the free. Suggests it was pretty bad. Extremely stupid by the Freo player in question. Annoying for their supporters and even us “neutrals” who hate Carlton and wanted to see one last lead change. https://www.afl.com.au/video/1103550/trsf-vicious-query-in-dissent-drama-clever-cats-dees-big-key?videoId=1103550&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1712407500001

Footy Fix: No, the umpires didn't gift Carlton the game - but Freo sure did

As is mine.

Hopefully you’ve got two things wrong there.

The good thing about Norwood is they would almost exclusively take support away from the Crows.
WA does make more sense population wise but you wouldn’t want to diminish Freo. Some mention South Freo. Presumably a lot of their fans support the Dockers. Splitting the WC support down the middle would be ideal.
Unfortunately I suspect Norwood would only ever be a pawn for the AFL. A good way to extract more of what they want from another bidder.
