No time would be saved. They’d just stuff more meaningless cashgrab T20s into the schedule.
The T20 series scheduled immediately following the World Cup should tell you everything you need to know about how much respect the game’s administrators and accountants have for free time in the calendar.
I’ll keep the 5-day Tests, thanks.

Four-day Tests? Traditionalists say no but red-ball format needs to move with the times to stay relevant

I can see some advantages in opening with Head: replacing Warner with another aggressive striker, Head getting to attack the new ball, England getting the dilemma of either pitching up to Head or wasting the new ball on a bouncer barrage.

I understanding not wanting to fix Head when he isn’t broken, but we do have a problem with the first wicket, and I think that’s a big enough problem to deserve a more enterprising solution than ‘welp, whoever we put in is going to get out anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯’

If you really think nobody would do better than Warner, you might as well leave him there. Or just bump everyone up a spot and bring Green in anyway.

Even if he has ‘Sandpapergate’ secrets, Warner should be dropped - but who'll take his spot?

Down 2-nil already. They can try, but it’s Popeless

Some of the comments are definitely over the top, but the runout was absolutely Warner’s fault.

Sure, they could have made the run if Labuschagne didn’t hesitate, but it would still have been tight. It’s just not worth risking a top order wicket on a freebie from an overthrow. There was no need for it.

Media bullying of Jordan De Goey has been a disgusting witch-hunt

I can still see Warnie standing at his mark in his whites, smirk plastered across his face, flicking the ball from hand to hand. He took Test cricket and elevated it to a spectacle like nothing I’ve ever seen anywhere else.

I have never enjoyed the sport more than when watching him bowl, especially in the ’05 Ashes. It is my number one cricket memory. I can’t imagine anything coming close to that ever again.

Both Novak & Djokovic?

I would agree with you that Djokovic has the best chance of finishing ahead amongst the three, although I wouldn’t necessarily agree that that is the best criteria to determine which of them is the best. Nadal and Federer spent a huge swathe of the prime of their careers battling it out with one another to secure slams, and if either of them had not had to compete with the other they could probably have won 25 or 30 Opens by now.

Admittedly this is also true of Djokovic, but he now has the most realistic chance of being able to continue his career for years after the other two are gone.

Let me check my list:

Most treasured Australian victories

1) Thumping England by an innings and 150+ runs
2) Beating India by fewer than 5 runs with the help of a controversial DRS decision

…. yep, it’s on there

Do we really want to see England in despair and humiliated? The answer might surprise you

He does average 96 as a Test opener, so there’s that.

'I didn't feel respected': Springboks captain backs Erasmus rant on Aussie ref

Bit late to the party, but to satisfy my curiosity I ran a fact check on:

‘I don’t think any Australian team in the last decade beaten all 5 NZ franchises in a season or even in the history of Superugby.’

This is mostly true. No Australian team has beaten all 5 NZ franchises in the round robin stages of Super Rugby. The Brumbies did beat all 5 kiwi franchises in 2004, but that included beating the Crusaders in the final after losing to them during the regular season.

Make it two! Barrett misses twice as Brumbies pip the Hurricanes

Well, he might have meant the team that conceded 60+ points at home and lost, though I agree that it seems a little unfair to compare the Tahs effort to the Rebels’ meek surrender.

Long live trans-Tasman rugby!

Brumbies fall heartbreakingly short in titanic struggle with Crusaders

Now, now. I think I speak for every Brumbies fan when I wish Tahs supporters the best of luck in the Trans-Tasman weeks to come.

I’m sure they wouldn’t turn it down! 😂

That was my Rest of the World XI. Just to be clear, this’d be my all time W team:

1. David Warner
2. Kane Williamson
3. Frank Worrell (vc)
4. Everton Weekes
5. Clyde Walcott
6. Frank Woolley
7. BJ Watling (wk)
8. Wasim Akram
9. Shane Warne (c)
10. Waqar Younis
11. Courtney Walsh

No Shane Watson, no Chris Woakes. Both are good players, but I like that XI better.

The Australian cricket all-time great alphabet teams: Who wins the Alphabet Cup?

I had Woakes in there because I started off by simply trying to make the strongest batting side possible, but since that meant having to leave out Walsh I gave up on it. Having said that, I’d still pick Woakes over Wagner if the match were in England (but probably Bob Willis over both).
And I’d stick with Frank Woolley through sheer weight of first class runs, though Doug Walters does have a very good case.
