Right! As Ben might say …Easier than growing 6 inches…

If Australia is looking for big men, let's not neglect the old and the fat

I think we lack hard uncompromising locks. We have a lot of, dare I say it, soft locks. Good players but get found out against harder men-like the Blues pack.

I thought Swain was hard (prob a bit more dirty than hard) but he’s gone soft and seems smaller.

I also think locks mature well so picking older players might work.

Good luck Ben and all the beanpoles out there!

No cheek no chocolate.

If Australia is looking for big men, let's not neglect the old and the fat

I’m so with you Ben!
Hope, rays of sunshine and some monikers with real stickability!
At last, something optimistic to read.

Enough of realistic expectations, let's get excited about future Wallabies

Marry Mark is completely out of form and has hardly beaten a player this year. I’m glad they dropped him as it finally shows DC can drop favourite and entitled players.

Super Rugby teams round 8: Tahs drop Marky Mark, Kellaway returns for Rebels, HMP replaces Lynagh

With the pressure on DC, he’s had to keep trying to pick his best which has come unstuck with crap, fear based, panic decisions (trying too hard) which all means he can’t drop players out of form who look like they wouldn’t make Wallabies anyway. Yes… Marky Mark is just not right this year. Throwing wonder passes…Wonder why? Drop him as well. He’d never play like that at the Roosters.
Shake it up!

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

Hang on Nutter, Footes team just beat Tah’s….he’s got his team playing better than Tah’s, ok only just, but Tah’s look headless/rudderless without a clear game plan or style.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

Tahs had no idea what to do with a penalty under the posts, then astoundingly, gave the ball to a newbie who didn’t know how to tap the ball with his boot ffs!
Who said he should be the one to tap it? Sack that man. If it’s DC then yep…goodbye!

'Something's not working': Tahs' Good Friday turns into a nightmare as Rebels recruit Daugunu seals upset win

Izzy is defs one dimensional but will improve at Leicester …but with Ikitau now injured and was badly out of form (virtually no breaks compared with pre-injury last year) -13 is up for grabs.
Flook now in front but there’s still plenty of rounds left.
IC is also vacant and was so disappointed when Henry went down as I think he has huge potential and Paisami is also too one dimensional….
Centre pairings a bit of a worry for the Wallabies.

Fresh Wallabies blow as Waratahs lose gun centre to complicate selection ahead of Lions tour

Great article. I think the idea of tribes is misplaced in an international comp. From an Australian POV anyway. Because we have to just support all our teams hoping at least one will win and especially beating a kiwi team.
I think my dislike for kiwi Super Rugby teams is greater each time we lose. Especially having to watch overblown celebrations that lack any humility. That’s bordering on tribalism I guess…

Passionate, visceral, irrational tribalism is vital for any competition to succeed. Is a lack of it damaging Super Rugby?

Good post. Agree with your reasoning. Uru now looks better than Hooper who seems to have lost agility and is getting belted every game. Uru is evasive and skilled. Wallabies just need hard nuts around him to compliment his skills.

'He's got a gold jersey this year': Uru's break out has him tipped to make Wallabies debut

Spot on. He could have backed off even just a little but he went hard and tried to hurt him with maximum impact. He knew the ball had gone. Totally malicious if there was a chance to back off.

'Over the moon': Reds deny Chiefs for 23 PHASES to win 'titanic' trans-Tasman clash as Kiss' revolution continues

I just want to see Wallaby eyes rollback like crazy animals, jackals, ripping those Welsh red hearts apart …like a butcher’s knife through offal …and rucking…ok no rucking … all legal smashing of bone…

Gee -felt good to get that out. Where did this come from? I care.
Chilled. At Peace. Wallabies by 15.

Wallabies CONFIRMED: Gordon benched as Eddie banks on Ben Donaldson, star returns for do-or-die RWC clash

I think we already heard didn’t we? And it wasn’t good- it was damning. All about accountability etc.

COMMENT: Kumbaya to chaos - if RA's boss is throwing in the towel so early, what exactly are we doing in France?

Thanks Geoff. The arrogance of McLennan‘s hand washing is staggering.
Where is Phil Waugh (made into a puppet)? I’m sure as an ex Wallaby, he’d be really pissed off if the higher powers were already making excuses before a huuuge game ….unbelievable. Does McLennan and EJ really care about this current World Cup? Well I really care. Deeply. I know these 2023 RWC Wallabies really care too so looking forward to seeing some real never say die grit against Wales.
Go the Wallabies!

COMMENT: Kumbaya to chaos - if RA's boss is throwing in the towel so early, what exactly are we doing in France?

My god. Thanks Harry. The clear picture you paint is so gut wrenching I could barely read the undoubted truth. I’m sooo disappointed and now I’m just furious at how EJ has bluffed, bullied and cleverly got what he wanted, not what was best for Australia.

COMMENT: Eddie must be axed if he can't beat Wales - or the game will be in deep trouble in Australia

Great read thanks Geoff.
Lots of sweaty steps, waiting for Mr Karma, waiting..queuing ( probs with smokers), with a little rugby thrown in.
I loved France but now I’m not so sure! You seem to be able to handle the situations quite calmly through -the keyboard at least!
The best is yet to come! 🏉

Parkes Life: Fizzer in Geneva, blow up in Bordeaux, trapped in a train station and why the future is bleak for bra sellers

“…Knocked them off script, they never found another one…” interesting this- their weakness that your guys smartly exploited. Argies inflexibility? Cheika?
WBs should snuff out their Plan A in a possible QF.

SPIRO ZAVOS: Skelton a force of nature, All Blacks' strategic error that has put their World Cup in peril

Wow. I thought he should’ve been wearing different coloured shorts. He was surely trying to look older…

SPIRO ZAVOS: Skelton a force of nature, All Blacks' strategic error that has put their World Cup in peril

“The fearsome Georgia pack, with their pirate beards, swelling bellies and tree trunk legs, lost their usual swagger and were reduced to a bewildered gang arguing with each other…”
I would add that they also all look scarily over 40yo. A young side could have been psyched out…golden oldies look at number 2….

SPIRO ZAVOS: Skelton a force of nature, All Blacks' strategic error that has put their World Cup in peril

Thanks Spiro. Really enjoyed this.
Having great players playing out of position and accommodating older players is spot on and good reasons why there’ll be no Joy for ABs this time.
1995 Wallabies made the same mistake.

SPIRO ZAVOS: Skelton a force of nature, All Blacks' strategic error that has put their World Cup in peril

Yep, built on gambling money. Community funding… 😔

Data doesn't deceive: 'Provincial' Rugby League trails in Rugby Union's wake

What a team! A couple of minor quibbles but gee I’d like to see the best from other RWC winners to see how we’d compare.
I know…my rugby fantasy.

Greatest XV: 'I had a gift' - the trauma and pain that drove Tony Daly, but also brought him crashing back to earth

Thumbs down…this is information about a new coach in the Wallabies set up, and a back story not many knew about, together with insights on EJ’s methods.
What are you wingeing about exactly?

From painting to the World Cup: Why NRL coach didn't run from Eddie's call - and how he's adding to the Wallabies

Yeah right…then I’d agree.

Moment that put halfback on the map - and why Wallabies bolter could have big role to play at RWC
