That’s one of those games where the Reds will just say, what the. Force out enthused them, but also some horrendous error’s leading directly to points. How they ounce back will determine how much this team has changed, either it’ll be a wake up call to recalibrate and learn they need to adjust on the fly, or they’ll fall to pieces the rest of the season (well, maybe that’s a bit dramatic).

Reds' 'unbelievable, unfathomable' double disaster sums up shocker as Force spring stunning upset

I think Golden Point is silly, just like I do in the NRL. At a minimum, if you persist with a Golden Point, the team that wins shouldn’t get the full complement of points. Maybe in SR the split should be if you win in Golden Point it’s 3 for the winner, then an addn’ 1 point goes to the losing side, so they’d get 2 (because they already get a BP loss for less than 7) – the same 5 points, but distributed showing that at normal time they were not split.

The Wrap: ‘World’s best provincial rugby competition’ delivers a superb Super Round

The French comp is anything but easier, 26 regular games in a season plus the European club comps within – some Top 14 teams can play 35+ games over the season. Joey will ceetainly pick up Union again quick playing over in France, because he’ll have to.

Manu’s move shows that the Roosters' sombrero doesn’t exist – and that his departure is their call

Agree, the 20min red card won’t happen, although they should have a middle ground between red and yellow. Less changes is a no brainer, marks, not really a concern. Easy to make up time in play as well, any scrum never reset is time off until it’s out or penalty blown, and also time off for conversion after try.

Rugby News: RA starts Wallabies coach 'sprint', 'SBW-like move' mooted for NRL star, Gatland wants 'mark' erased

QLD/ACT/WA all wanted him gone, that’s 3 Super teams. VIC & NSW never got asked, because they had either negotiated or doing so with RA – purely because of the terrible financial position they were in, not because they thought the Hamster was best to lead.

'What a shame': McLennan GONE as Rugby Australia name World Cup-winner chairman to bookend wild year

Why wouldn’t it? It’s quite evident the states want centralisation of high performance/recruitment at a minimum – but most just don’t want to give over every key to RA – who could blame them with how inept some of the decision making has been. Also, the Hamster keeps banging on about ‘centralisation’, but still cannot explain exactly what he’s trying to achieve – it’s really not that hard to prepare proposal documents outlining the various options to at least start the process for collaboration, something it seems still has yet to have been done because it looks like from the outside they’ve got no idea of what they really want to achieve.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

Just read it, what a joke. Hey Hamster, the other state unions aren’t in support of you, they just were not asked because they are in late negotations of their commercial assets to RA – purely for financial reasons. A ‘super league’ style breakaway will probably happen if he’s still there, and there is no chance of reform, what a pompus narcissist.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

Regardless, his ‘powerful supporters’ and ‘board member backers’ in their hastened diversion to defend are missing the key aspect of all this – there’s no coming back for him. If somehow he stays on now, it’s stupidity, because all of these things that his supporters say are the bigger issues (centralisation) have a snow flakes chance in hell of happening if he is still in the chairman role.

Exclusive: Embattled chair asks for extension, Rugby Australia meet AGAIN as civil war breaks out

“We accept the board takes ultimate responsibility” It’s the typical corporate line. We accept that we made an awful & terribly thought out decision, but, we won’t take any real responsibility apart from ackowledge the error – then we’ll just oncitnue business as usual after the dust has settled a bit.

'Completely unfair': Eddie sledge that angered Waugh, new coaching contenders emerge to rebuild Wallabies

That is the biggest issue, number of allowed replacements. It needs to be reduced, not even a question.

Did over-regulation suck the life out of the Rugby World Cup?

Didn’t realise he was on the board tbh, but as long as he doesn’t hold a position on the board, then there’s no reason for him to not stay on as CEO – with some proper governance in place.

Eddie Jones quits as Wallabies coach - 'Sometimes you have to eat s--t for others to eat caviar'

I think Phil should be kept out of this, he had absolutely nothing to do with Eddie’s hiring. He’s been there for a minute, but looks okay, for now.

Eddie Jones quits as Wallabies coach - 'Sometimes you have to eat s--t for others to eat caviar'

People say that there are no coaches who would want the WB’s job, I say rubbish. Should Jones get shown the door, or finally show some decency and walk, most coaches available probably wouldn’t hesitate – because you are coming in at rock bottom where anything will look better. And also even though it is not yet sorted, there will be centralisation for at a minimum high performance (I expect to be a much better alignment in junior talent retention as well), the states have finally seen that it is a necessatity to centralise a number of aspects.

Eddie's Wallabies future on tenterhooks amid coaching changes, key ally departs as Waugh returns home

Nah, if he is terminated and The Roar understands correctly about RA having an exit claus without payout, then it actually looks better for McLennen, because at least they have taken action and also (finally) structure an employment contract smart enough to have benefits for the employer.

Eddie's Wallabies future on tenterhooks amid coaching changes, key ally departs as Waugh returns home

How so? All that changes here really is that there are now dedicated windows outside of the 6N & RC, where those test matches count towards a NH vs SH final. It also give the Tier 2 nations more games, and then in a couple of years ability to be promoted to compete in that NH vs SH final. With all the vested interest involved, it isn’t that bad of a start, while we can wish for a ‘revolution’, that ain’t going to happen while these baby steps are at least positive.

'It will kill rugby': Minnows feel shafted as World Rugby hails 'historic' revamp with exclusive Nations Championship

Becasure otherwise it would not have got through, a couple of the lower ranked 6N teams would have voted it down. They’ve pushed it out to appease them, is it first prize, sure it’s not, but it’s only a couple of tournaments before the promotion/relegation comes into effect.

'It will kill rugby': Minnows feel shafted as World Rugby hails 'historic' revamp with exclusive Nations Championship

I agree, on the surface looks okay. More games for Tier 2 nations in specified windows gets them playing together more and they will get more games against Tier 1 teams in alternating years judging by what has been reported. And there was no way promotion/relegation was happening from the get-go, some of the EU nations would not allow it, so they just pushed it back to appease them.

'It will kill rugby': Minnows feel shafted as World Rugby hails 'historic' revamp with exclusive Nations Championship

There is no way that players will be rested for a WC semi. Are England the best NH team? No way, however they are still good enough to win against SA on their day, doubt they will be resting a player. Ditto AB’s, who have been beaten by ARG in recent past and are hardened through the WC tournament, doubt will be resting players as well.

Five things: RWC quarters deliver rugby's greatest weekend, Cheika's timely Wallabies reminder, officiating wild west

You say “choreography”, I say ‘circus’

Eddie digs in as he flies home - AGAIN denying he wants to quit to coach Japan, while revealing next step

I just found this by Michael Pascoe, may not agree with some of his financial anlysis sometimes but has hit the nail on the head here https://thenewdaily.com.au/finance/2023/09/27/michael-pascoe-weasel-words-gaslighting-rugby-australia/

The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer

Didn’t he say along the lines of, what has changed there since he last worked in Aus, and given nothing has then why would you go back foir a second round in under the same conditions.

If things have changed, maybe he considers it??

Harry, Christy is a paid RA journalist. His articles of late are essentially just rehashing what RA is saying, and throwing in a few additional comments here and there to gauge public opinion.

And agreed, while no one denies a better model is needed the current Chairman and Head Coach are not the people to drive it.

Urgh, the above is strucured ugly – still can’t get line breaks into my replies!

RA 'committed' to Eddie despite 'bitterly disappointing' RWC campaign, in talks with NZR over northern threat

I just read that story, some of it and the excuses are absolutely laughable (although I don’t agree with what the bloke did in Lyon if that is true).
However, the one thing that was at least interesting is
“Rugby Australia will hold an independent review after the World Cup, which could involve David Nucifora, the former Wallabies hooker who has masterminded Ireland’s rise to No.1 in the world rankings as their high-performance manager. Nucifora delivered a presentation to Rugby Australia in 2012 based on a centralised system of high-performance but it was rejected. McLennan believes now is the time to “seize the moment” to implement a similar structure.”
They 100% should be getting Nucifora to review everything, and everyone listen to what he says, not just use it as a facade of looking at doing something.

Christy is dead set gets paid by RA, some of the stuff that has come out lately is straight out of there playbook.

Why the Wallabies shouldn't miss out on the next Joey and try to lure Cleary for 2027 World Cup
