Mainly an AFL player, Ruckman, but long-time and passionate Rugby fan. I played rugby at Narrabeen school, Australian College of Physical Education (Teachers College) and while a volunteer in Nuku'nuku, Tonga. Second row, no 4 in lineout. I like to think that I invented the concept of the banana kick (or Check-side in South Australia where it was invented) when kicking for the sideline (boundary), especially when close to the sideline. The first time that I did it in a game was in 1975.

This is a left.field call but could Vermeulen be tempted to become a Wallabies assistant coach for Defence ?
I have read somewhere that his on field marshalling of his co.players was most beneficial for the Bokkes.
He would be untested, of course, but could be a great coach and Wallabies could poach him at a bargain price …!?
Excerpt from Planet Rugby:
“According to a report by the respected South African newspaper The Rapport, the Stormers will meet with Vermeulen again next week to discuss a role within their coaching structures. The report adds that the ex-Springbok turned down an offer to become the Bulls’ defence coach in their senior set-up last year as he wished to remain in Cape Town.”

I like your suggestion: –

NSW = Rod McQueen

RA must not fixate on an Aussie coach - why Ronan O'Gara is best choice to lead Wallabies after the Eddie calamity

As AlanJones says… this position should be advertised !

And the right candidate selected by a RA panel.
.

The bigger question is . Who will be on the selection panel ??

Actually,
.

after this World Cup these tactics are exonerated !!

Yes agreed on Hodge, I am a fan.

Only other option, especially considering 12, might be JOC 2 … ?

Kerevi vs Semi: Can Eddie afford to go into crunch Fijian RWC clash with underdone Wallabies star

Good point, Olly, I think that’s the case ?? –
Say, if Ikitau did come into the squad for another who was out injured then if he was to play and was also to become out injured by hurting the same shoulder , then he couldn’t be replaced ??

Kerevi vs Semi: Can Eddie afford to go into crunch Fijian RWC clash with underdone Wallabies star

Hodge could be a good inside centre, IMHO, good defence, hard runner, likes to pass to teamate, knows 5/8 communication and can kick.
However I have always liked the way Foketi plays at 12 …

Nate – You don’t want White in the mix ?
.
Other posts are saying that he starts so as to play a kicking / lineout game and not run at the Fijians
,
in the very fear that they might run back!
.
.
Foketi/Perese could well be a good pairing …

Are you suggesting that if Christy asks the right questions then he would be favoured and even be given team selections a day early !
