'Tonight we shocked the world': How Arnie's Olyroos rocked Argentina

Loved the win. Funny game. Our boys played with a lot of broken rhythm. The ball arriving out of sync to the feet ,or arriving at odd heights. A lot of time spent readjusting instead of moving the ball forward. However, Lady Luck was pretty even when it came to the bounce of the ball. They ( argentina ) tried to intimidate early and got a rude shock when we pushed back. If they can just keep the ball on the deck and get a chance to play football , we might all be enjoying a few game nights.

Here’s another scenario. You’re of arabic extraction, at the game supporting your team ( WSW )….Hemed scores. Do you boo because he’s jewish or do you cheer because your team has gone ahead ? There’s the possibility that your euphoria could over-rule your distaste for the scorer , at that moment in time. 6&1.

How will Tomer Hemed, and his distinctive celebrations, go down with Wanderers fans?

Well, considering the game is about to be picked by a duplex network , what we wan’t won’t count. It’ll be about bums on seats versus advertisers reaching as many viewers as possible. Here in itself is a problem. We all complain about dwindling attendances. Maybe, just maybe, those people not at the game are watching it on the box. Which equates to the sponsors product being seen by more people than it would at the actual game ? Maybe the sponsors don’t care about actual attendances . Maybe they don’t care about money going back into the game , so long as their logo is getting maximum exposure , is probably what’s at the front of their corporate lobes ?….Just a thought.

Should the A-League keep the finals?

Still nothing. The comp’s been won by then.

Should the A-League keep the finals?

I’d much rather something like this to dead rubber football. Before you say it’s not ” dead rubber…it is ” The comp’s been won by the team who had the best season. I’d be more than happy to see it go 2 points for a win and one for a draw to keep the comp closer. But……a 20 team knockout would be a perfect public introduction to teams seeking promotion .That’s if we were to include relegation and promotion. At some point, this needs to happen to keep the game moving forward. While that’s easy enough to say , the financial backing is a whole other can of worms.

There’s only one word commercial networks understand….” Ratings “…to support advertising revenue. Every time a tv network is mentioned , i get nervous…yet remain optimistic.

Foxtel's farewell means it's time to make the A-League great again

Wiith the mind numbing amount of ads they now run, you’d think they could have well contested.

It didn’t take long for some anti-football talk to creep in at SBS

If New Zealand have so many players, why are the Nix made up of a high percentage of Aussies ? Noone mentions Tasmania. Ok the travel issue is real, but hey , in australia , there will always be that concern. A western regional south australian team would serve as a link between perth / adelaide/melbourne that could keep some of the travel costs down.

How many expansion teams would work in winter A-League?

I agree entirely. The hard work is done over the length of the competition. First past the post are the champions. Ive seen the gloss go off the value of the prized toilet seat by the hoo0haah of the finals. That’s just wrong. I realize they need to make more money due to the size of our smallish comp. I believe in relegation. We need it. Can we afford it ? I don’t know. A finals series proves nothing , it’s just a money grab….that we happen to need right now.
