Actually no…think about that properly most of the South African players understand English, none of the Australians understand Afrikaans, isn’t that blatantly obvious. South African post game interview is in English, South African ref spoke English, South African touch judge and video ref spoke English, there’s a pattern here.

When I arrived in Ashgrove, it was around the same time as the GPS had made the Premier grade final so there was GO GSP banner on nearly every business, telephone pole, bus stop etc so it appeared that way at the time, probably just a once off but warped my impression of the area.

As Union supporter, its hard not to like the 9s although I’ve only gotten to watch the highlights it has looked brilliant and brought back a lot of creativity and unpredictability in attack that everybody loves.
In 13 a side the defence is often too good now and the only way out of necessity is to kick or grind out a win.
My only gripe is that Union has been beaten to the punch 9s is kind of “just right”,
Just enough players to make the defence strong enough to encourage creative attacking and yet make each try more meaningful.
Union will be kicking itself as it used to have a 10s game that has completely gone to waste.
