The practice of using video replays to check for a possible no ball after a batsman has been dismissed has become a blight on…
We win the toss and bat
But I know they’re gonna ruin us
It’s Wasim Akram
and Waqar Younis!
The first ball’s a jaffa
The second ball’s a corker
The third ball traps the opener
With an inswinging yorker
Wickets keep on tumbling
But I don’t give two hoots
I would gladly swap some runs

This is a terrible decision by Erasmus. I wrote an article about these type of catches the other day (https://www.theroar.com.au/2023/06/27/the-weird-thing-about-catches). If we take the path of denying catches like this one, it will significantly detract from the spectacle of the game. As an example, the fantastic catch Victoria’s Mitch Perry took in last season’s Sheffield Shield Final would have been denied, and therefore a great moment for spectators would have been lost. You can find this catch by searching online for “Mitch Perry takes an incredible flying catch to remove Hilton Cartwright for a duck”.
