I think the appointments are sound however the constitution needs to be more open and board selection needs to open to more skilled people, therefore we need to start with the AGM.

I think I answered these points somewhere else however we are trying achieve is an open transparent process for selecting RA board members. We have no narrow to push other than an open constitution for RA.

The process for ensuring the rugby population does actually get a say in the board compilation is not easy and some suggestions are being thought through and will be published prior to the AGM. The main concern is to move the selection from a small group to a more representative group.

The Cricket model for development is excellent and RA could do the same. The current board have no plans for development.

We want to get rid on the nominations committee and have the rugby population vote on the board appointments. In the next couple of days we will publish the process to do this.

Jeznez, we will publish a process within the next day or so. It is a big step and requires thought to get right. We are not pushing any barrow other than a new constitution and a process to get it.

Actually CPM I was President of Northern Suburbs RFC when professional rugby started. I saw John O Neill first hand and worried then. I was then on the NSW Rugby committee for two years and pro rugby was being established. Dick has really never stopped being involved.

Thanks Sheek. I was at the cardiologist this morning and should be ok for another six months. There are many good people willing to put their hands up to help but we need to get rid of this constitution and away from the cabal of financiers and board operatives back to the rugby population. There are experienced business people with rugby knowledge constantly being knocked back by the nominations committee because they don’t fit the cabal mould.

We are not trying to give the solutions. We want to spill the board and get the rugby population to take ownership and through a survival committee develop solutions.

Actually that’s not what we want. We want the rugby public to take ownership of the game. It will take plenty of work but it is the only way rugby can get out of the mess the game is in.
