I am not sure if has been covered in other threads but i cannot understand replacing Wilson with McReight. I think it was the right time to bring on McReight however Wilson seems to be at least bending the line and making his first up tackles…seems that Hoops is just irreplaceable (don’t want to enter that debate again).

VOTE: Wallabies player ratings from Bledisloe 1

Thanks Loosehead. I think a moment or two to think about whats best for Aust Rugby is important. As an example our junior rugby club loved and engaged with Super Rugby AU. Teams would organise trips to the games etc and training was called off on Friday night games. Now its maybe a handful of father that watch the games on Stan. The kids kick a ball out on the field rather than watch.
For me the NRC is a no brainer – every successful international team has a second tier competition. The state club competitions are fantastic but don’t bring the players, coaching or officials near the level needed for the Super Rugby.

To TT or not TT, is that the question?

For the first time in a long time I stayed up to watch the Reds in SA. There are so many good things about this team….and yes a few bad. However I feel like the pieces of a complex puzzle are there. Two of my favourite things for success are there as a retired piggy. Defence and set piece…we just need that game where it all sticks. Reds coaches just need to stick with the players in the backs and lets have a go.

Reds fall short in brave Lions loss

Foley…no words. I was hoping 3 selectors might iron out a few of these howlers. Even if CLL had a shocker against Fiji which he didn’t…..this logic has applied to Foley in four years. Wow. Luckily we are training well.

Wallabies make major changes for Wales Rugby World Cup match

I know its very subjective, however there is a very exciting team amongst that squad. Mostly brumbies in my team…only one Waratah. However here’s hoping we get a dynamic, skilful and aggressive wallaby team.

VOTE: Pick your Wallabies XV to face the Springboks

I am horrified for the parents of kids with legitimate needs for public monies. Poor Izzy as he jumps out of his Audi Q7 and is fighting for his millions of dollars. What a world we live in that someone feels this conviction while many have nothing. Imagine what 288k could have done for others.

Folau hoping to crowd-fund legal case against Rugby Australia

I agree Will. As a very old piggy and have two sons as props, there is always delight at a knock on. As our game struggles for viewers I often sit with people who don’t understand the time taken to set and reset scrums. You can bet your bottom dollar there will be at one reset for the team that is in front.
The bigger scrum issue for me is long arm penalties from scrums that result in the captain choosing another scrum. The potential then is for a yellow card or penalty try after repeat offenses in following scrums by the opposition. However you can here the remote controls being picked up and used as there is 7 mins of scrum resets. We need to think of our broader audience.

Scrums sucking too much precious time out of rugby

Thanks Nic…it does actually bring together quite a few articles and a number of head scratching posts on the Roar over many years. Why at an international level do we see Foley kick for the line when Hodge is on the field? Hodge has a cannon and launches the ball like Tiger at the Masters. Exit strategies are so much easier when the fullback can kick 50 in the air or is willing to kick at all.

Why the Wallabies will be kicking themselves in 2019

The game was poor…i think enough people have this between the Tash and the Rebels.
My huge concern for the Wallabies is that abut 78:18 minutes Foley dribbles the ball down field to Hodge with a kick that was barely chased. The Tahs were ahead by only 3 and our incumbent 10 though this was an option. If Hooper or the leadership group want to win games at an international level we need to learn how to close out and win games.
Even more concerning for the Rebels that being behind by 3 they kicked it back to the Tahs at the 79:24 minute. So there was plenty of poor decisions on both teams.

The Wrap: Foley TKOs Cooper as Australian conference tightens up

I think regardless of the outcome this is a divisive issues which will result in the loss of support for our code. RA and its corporate supporters will want action. Cheika and the senior players are not so much disrespecting Israel but keeping the organisation that pays their bills happy.

Cheika stumbles in first test of new Wallabies paradigm

Its another scenario of an individual or local case which should have be managed at a RU level. How can you lose 3 test players and find them as your direct competition the next season. The Reds lost 160 (ish) test caps and then have them as division rivals the next round of Super Rugby. There is no lesson in this for the players and leave the Reds supporters with an enforced moral code.

Super Rugby 2019 preview series: Queensland Reds

The risk/reward calculation with Poey is something I would like Cheika to explain. Surely this is a short term gain at best.

Pocock passed fit for England showdown

Foley to 12 is baffling – he seems to be the key to success for Cheika. The wallabies cannot possibly be without him or the team will fail??

Michael Cheika's mixed selections for Italy

Exactly the backline we have been throwing around at BBQs lately. It would at least go forward – Kerevi and Jordan could develop into a dynamic monster centre pairing. Toomua can tackle, pass and kick at a higher standard than the current 10 & 12 which allows Kerevi to go berserk in the mid field.
Its still has me buggered what Cheika sees in Foley that the Wallabies team cannot under any circumstances be without.

Wallabies selector wanted. How hard can it be?

Agreed Fionn it is sad. Thanks Willie – I travelled to Eden Park to watch the Wallabies this year and most of the Kiwis echoed your the sentiment in your article. There is nothing worse than feeling the compassion or slow empathetic head shake of a All Black crowd as you made the long to drown your sorrows at the bar.

Dear Wallabies, sort it out ASAP please. Sincerely, all rugby fans

Hopefully, and I say this without a recent evidence, there will be a lot of pressure on the Genia/Phipps and Foley combination. QC to the Rebels will be one of quite a few positives in the halves in the 2019 Super Rugby. The Reds have Jim McKay coming back as attack coach to work with McDermott and Stewart. The Brumbies will have Powell and Lealifano returning and looking for world cup spots, and of course Genia and QC. At least upward pressure may bring out the best in the incumbents??

Don’t cut Quade Cooper from World Cup contention just yet

Maybe, but there are a lot of people excited about QC playing super rugby again. The article is a judgemental opinion piece that many disagree with for multiple reasons. If watching a 10 that is good for rugby viewing, popularity and spectators makes me a fan boy, then sign me up.

Quade Cooper joins Melbourne Rebels on one-year deal

I just think its a great move for Australian rugby…Rebels get QC, Thorn gets rid of him and Australian rugby gets it money on the paddock at least. All 2018 did was hurt rugby, no one won anything out of it (except maybe the Magpies).
