Smoke and mirrors: England's contrived outrage can't help them avoid the facts
Thank you. I felt uniquely placed to write this after suffering the indignity of being run out whilst I did some mid pitch gardening believing I’d hit a boundary. I hadn’t. And yes you’re right, still lots of improvement left in this team.

Thank you for adding an extra helping of parody, Karen.
'Lucky dip': Confessions of a failed tennis fan
Like it. I actually did have a 6th.
6. When the opposition kicks from inside their own fifty I often see the full back catch it on their ten metre line. I would be coaching them to let that ball bounce. If it is coming from 50 metres away I reckon it is bouncing dead most times. If it does happen to bounce up, or backwards, there are no chasers there yet. I reckon worth the risk to get the 7 tackle set.
I haven’t fielded any coaching offers today 😊
Five innovations guaranteed to take Parramatta to the 2021 premiership
The front on shot showed that Paulo was in the act of playing it when Cook tackled him. If Cook had of been binned at that point there is a chance that Parra would not even have gone for the penalty kick but persisted against a 12 man defence. But aunties and uncles and all that now…

It can’t go on for ever, can it?
Five innovations guaranteed to take Parramatta to the 2021 premiership
Good memory. That’s the one. The fact that the Bulldogs were using probably points to it being a tactic of desperation! But I still think it is worth looking at rather than getting driven back when starting out inside your own ten. But yes, not heavily used.
Five innovations guaranteed to take Parramatta to the 2021 premiership
I have never understood why Union predominantly use the short, high kick off. If you pump it deep, anywhere inside the twenty they invariably kick it back to you somewhere around the 50, at worse. Makes no sense to kick short kick offs in Union (I would think).
Five innovations guaranteed to take Parramatta to the 2021 premiership
I actually had in mind a play, and I can’t remember now which team did it, but it was from a kickoff after a try and the forward threw a long ball straight to the winger who raced up field. May have scored from it. It was about 4 or 5 rounds ago.

I have thought about that. Not completely sure. We do have a world class attack (Though Yasir, test average around 14, managed a ton.) For some reason it is just very hard to win away from home.
David Warner: Timing is everything
I definitely don’t want standardised pitches across the globe. I’m in favour of the pitches that give something to the spinners on days 4 and 5 as the SCG used to as you point out. Love the test of subcontinent pitches, spin and then later reverse swing, and the swing and seam of England.
David Warner: Timing is everything
Thanks for the comment Riccardo. When writing I kept thinking about that recent Ashes series. Every ball was so intensely competitive. Made for great viewing. Felt like any ball could swing the series. Would be great to have that in Australia.
David Warner: Timing is everything
Point taken on the not turning up. Of all the cliches I could have used (didn’t score the amount of runs he would’ve liked to etc) I could have chosen one a bit more empathic to openers who do a very tough job.
David Warner: Timing is everything
Agree. Needs to be something in it for everyone. Batsmen and bowlers of all styles.
David Warner: Timing is everything
Thanks for reading Paul. I suppose by great batting wickets I meant the ones that usually have nothing in it for the bowlers. I agree with your point and the best test wickets have something for everyone at various stages of the 5 days.
David Warner: Timing is everything
What a story it would be! A lot of that kiwi team deserve the chance to taste success.
#JeSuisGuppy: Martin Guptill's pivotal and hopeless World Cup
Hi Dave, thanks for reading. Definitely wasn’t trying to suggest he shouldn’t have thrown the ball. Just trying to highlight the rotten luck he had and that of all the alternatives the one he chose turns out like that. With the luck he was having if he had of thrown it to the bowler’s end no doubt the same thing would have happened! And yes, good spotting that he was also the man next to Boult and instantly signalled six.
#JeSuisGuppy: Martin Guptill's pivotal and hopeless World Cup
Riccardo I agree that Guppy must have put his hand up for the super over. Kane seems like a thoroughly decent bloke and i cannot imagine him asking Guppy to do it after what he’d been through. And yes, he’ll be back!
