Would have been great if Dyantyi and Willemse had not incurred injuries (and bans?) and were included in the squad at the expense of Gelant and Mapimpi but given the players available this is a fantastic squad. Our best 23 can beat anyone if all cylinders are firing. A Boks v ABs final is looking very likely and has me salivating.

Kolisi returns as Springboks name World Cup squad

Keep up the good work Liam!

NBA: Predicting the 2019-20 Western Conference standings

Great article Liam. Can’t really fault your predictions and reasonings for them. I believe the Jazz are a little closer than you think. I also expect (and hope!) the Lakers to shock everyone and choke early in the playoffs. The Western Conference for the umpteenth season is stacked again; should be a fascinating season.

I hope you’re right Jett. I personally like that KD walked and that the Dubs have to revert to their OG core. We’ll be tested but the pressure will be off, creating a great opportunity for the Dubs to surprise everyone. A top 4 finish is a very real prospect

Cotter would be a really smart signing by RA. He doesn’t get enough credit for laying the foundations for which Scotland now enjoy under Townsend. In fact Townsend hasn’t taken them further and in many ways has just kept in place all the systems set by Cotter. Let’s remember that before Cotter Scotland were an utter basket case for a very long time.

Which Kiwi will RA choose to lead the Wallabies?

Love the article, Harry. Rassie really is proving a master technician but I do wish he used overseas and other outsiders last year instead of rushing them in so close to the WC, like Reinach, Steyn, Serfontein and Kwagga. Nonetheless, we have such good depth and clarity at all positions and combinations with the glaring exception of centre – I think we have to go for Steyn and Am and have Kriel covering both positions from the bench.

Springbok 'learnings' from Ellis Park

Have a good week big guy 🙂

That war dance was a celebration of his heritage DURING indigenous culture round! The thugs in the crowd started barking because they were ignorant, petty and racist. Sounds familiar, Insider?

Uncomfortable as it might be, all sports fans should watch The Final Quarter

Essential viewing for every Australian. It’s so sad how stubbornly ignorant and, frankly, racist so many people behaved during this episode. Goodes is someone to be admired, cheered and respected. I hope our country learns from this

Harry I’ve been keenly awaiting your analysis of the Bok squad and who your ideal matchday 23 is for the WC…please pen an article soon! In the meantime, who is your ideal centre-pairing? This seems the most problematic combination for us. If Steyn is ready to go then I’d personally like Steyn and Am. De Allende and Esterhuizen are just too one dimensional. I also think Rassie really missed a trick not giving Rohan Janse van Rensburg a go

Why Rassie's right to pick the ressies

Shaw as head coach and Roos as GM/mentor-type role is hugely appealing. Roos is clearly a masterful tactician but he also places a huge emphasis on culture and ensuring his players are good role models for the community. I would love to see his influence at the club. If we can’t get Roos then I’m tempted to revert to getting Longmire, as he seems to have instilled a moralistic (and obviously winning) culture at the Swans.

What I want to see in North Melbourne's next senior coach

Love your article Harry, as always. As it stands, one year out from RWC ’19, what do you think of this matchday squad (players in brackets are bench cover) – bear in mind I am not considering players like Reinach, Frans Steyn, Ruan Ackermann and Janse van Rensberg who I sincerely wish were on Rassie’s radar:

15. le Roux (Willemse);
14. Nkosi
13. Kriel (Am)
12. de Allende
11. Dyanti
10. Pollard (Willemse)
9. de Klerk (Papier)
8. Vermeluen (JL du Preez)
7. du Toit (JL du Preez)
6. Kolisi (van Staden)
5. Mostert
4. Ezebeth (Snyman)
3. Malherbe (du Toit)
2. Marx (Mbonambi)
1. Kitschoff (Louw)

That’s 23 players as du Preez and Willemse woudl provide cover for 2 positions each.

Springbok report card: How does Rassie rank?

Fantastic article Josh! Thoroughly researched, detailed and considered. I will pray to the Footy Gods that we land Gaff and Polec this off season and Kelly next!!!!

Andrew Gaff's next move will shape North Melbourne's future

And Paige – he is definitely a quota player.

Great article Harry – some really positive signs in the Springboks team at present.

Coetzee was humbled by last year’s horror show, and he should be applauded for changing his tune and luring Venter, Franco Smith and (inevitably I hope) Erasmus into the ranks.

I personally would love to see Combrink replace Rhule, Francois Venter replace Kriel and have Van Rensburg on the bench. Jantjies hasn’t put a foot wrong but I would still like to see Pollard back at 10 and Jantjies as cover on the bench.

There’s a lovely culture brewing in the Bok camp and for the first time in many years, I’m genuinely optimistic about beating anyone not named the All Blacks.

The bunny chow wrap

Nice Harry! I’ll be at the same QF. I’ll keep an eye out for you bru!

There is no argument, the Wallabies must win Pool A

I’m assuming there was no mention of the 49ers as serious Super Bowl contenders because they had a bye this week? and the same for New England? Both teams are real threats alongside Houston, Atlanta, NYG, Green Bay, Baltimore and Denver. Note I left out Chicago – they will not make it past the frist round of playoffs, just watch.

Wow Chris you’re such an upstanding guy! Your family must be proud of your moral compass

Sport needs a social conscience

Very nice article Matt! I agree wholeheartedly with having sporting clubs having a bigger involvement in the betterment of our society. I am proud to be a North Melbourne member and am 100% behind their agreement with World Vision to not take any revenue from gambiling sources. I didn’t know about the Rebels’ initiative – very impressive!

Quadey would attract the hotties for us but that’s about all he could bring to the table! ha

Dear Quadey, this is for you

good article. there should be more mention of san fran and atlanta though.

Presenting the NFL midseason awards

great article ryan! i agree with all your comments on the lakers – it seems a little unfair to the other teams given the lakers are so cashed up and seem to run the franchise, from an admin persepctive, with such polish. lakers will be very hard to stop….the heat and thunder seem to be the only real threats.
