If Mbonambi or any player from any side is “yelling” instructions then it would be surprising no one seems to be aware of what was being said including not being picked up on the the microphones. So if the allegation is true it must have been said a bit more subtly than the “yelling” suggested.

England's Curry accused Bongi Mbonambi of vile racial insult - but Boks fans have alternative explanation

The problem is really the change of coaches should have happened a year earlier or after the WC. Trying to see who’s who and what works is happening too late into what should be a 4 year process instead of a last minute scramble over a handful of matches.

The two-week observation: The Wallabies can play low possession rugby OR find the Australian way – but not both

‘Bring out the dead, bring out the dead’ came the cry as the cart loaded 5 bodies onto the cart and took them to the graveyard. Each placed in a coffin with a bell and placed into their grave sites with head stones marked Waratahs, Rebels, Force, Brumbies and Reds.

Early in the year a sense of hope could be sensed as Super Rugby AU had some competitive and entertaining games. At the same time Super Rugby Aotearoa was taking place, and anyone that has been watching the two competition knew there was a gap larger than ‘The Ditch” separating these two rugby nations. With the start of the Trans-Tasman Super Rugby, Scott Johnson claimed he wanted to see two Australian teams in the final. It is no doubt Scott Johnson’s job to talk things up, but realistically even one team being in the final seemed unlikely before any matched took place.

Now a reality check has taken place. Before the 25 matches in these competition had kicked off getting more than five wins I personally thought would be a decent achievement. But we now see ‘The Ditch’ between us is a giant chasm. Surely it’s not going to be 0-25.

I am hoping one of the bodies will ring it’s bell (known as a dead ringer) in the next few weeks to indicate they are not quite dead yet, and save a miserable ending to the Super Rugby AU season.

However at this point I hear no sounds, the silence is deafening.

RIP Super Rugby AU 2021.

How to fix Australian rugby's trans-Tasman problem

Great insight into grassroots rugby. Everything about players required for the National Competition is all given in a very compelling assessment. Getting the balance right is very, very difficult. At the moment is seems to be a big jump to go up to Super XV and then onto Wallabies from grassroots competitions. In the meantime as we continue with the financial constraints and play numbers to accommodate everyone and everything the NH just ploughs on leaving us in our wake.

National club comp lacking a grassroots perspective

Is there a reason to the early start? My initial thought was after the WC maybe a slightly later start if anything. If there isn’t a reason is this then the new normal starting time for the season? I love my rugby as much as anyone but I look at the temperatures set for Canberra tomorrow and question the timing.

Super Rugby Round 1: Whaddya mean it starts this week?

I am still surprised all the trophies they won haven’t been removed from the record books and they haven’t been thrown out of the Heineken Cup.It feels as though they have not been properly punished. IN a decade people will still see them as champions instead of cheats. Agree with the not allowing for the books to be seen they must be pretty bad.

The big questions coming out of the shortest ever Australian rugby pre-season

I’ll be very very happy if we can get 2 teams into the finals which should be our minimum goal but barely reached.

New-look Tahs targeting Super Rugby title

“If we don’t fix the scrum now the next IRB knee-jerk reaction will be to trial taking away the option of a scrum for a crooked line-out throw in a retrograde reaction to the mess they have ‘designed’ the scrum to become – too dangerous and time-consuming.” As things stand I am still in favour of the idea of giving the losing team the option of a quick lineout in the second half of the game as opposed to the last 5 minutes turning into the cynical time wasting of resetting scrums. If a solution such as the one you are suggesting can be trialled and be successful I am all for it. In the meantime I just want to see the contest played out for the full match not 70 odd minutes.

How to fix rugby's biggest scrum problem

Does this also mean that if we continue failing thru to the next WC the RA Board has a scapegoat in the independent panel of Pat Howard, Nathan Sharpe and Bo Hanson for failing to make the appropriate recommendations for success.

Rugby AU publishes recommendations from 2019 Wallabies review

I see a few comments saying that the game will still stop for a long time and there is no incentive to keep the flow of the actual game going. One possible thought is either from the start of the game or maybe from the beginning of the second half the team that the tam losing has the option of scrum or lineout (assuming no lineout team meeting which are still way quicker than all the scrum resets). Teams defending their leads and killing 4-5 minutes of the clock are turning close matches which should be full of tense pressure into an anti climax.

Too right Richie! World Rugby need to get a grip on time-sucking scrums

The appalling way the governance has been run over the decades has been nothing but a complete shambles. You might be right about arrangements being in place for this season but that is part of the problem, it is just another year of opportunity slowly slipping away. So now we have to hold our breath and wait for a new “golden” age to start mid 2020.

Sydney FC's clash with Melbourne Victory should have been postponed

After the promise of changes with the A-League gaining independence from the FFA it seems that football just continues to shoot itself in the foot. I sometimes wonder are there other factors at play we are unaware of as people always have the games “best interest at heart” but continually fail to do the bleeding obvious for years. All the promises going back to Arthur George until today make you wonder why is it so hard.

Sydney FC's clash with Melbourne Victory should have been postponed

Unless a coach is required to be in place straightaway to implement pathways expected of Super Rugby teams to follow so everyone is heading in the same direction what is the rush. Yes we need to sort the coaching position out reasonably quickly but is there a need for this to be resolved after just a few days.

Week 5 World Cup reflections: Entering the war zone

Agree with the core of what everyone is suggesting, limitation to phases on advantage, time management over scrums and goal attempts, allowing to collapse a rolling maul. Offsides really need be dealt with far better I thought I read somewhere about putting trackers on players which would allow easier policing of offside. I would also like to add either no marks allowed or if it is to continue that the kick cannot go out as it takes the pressure of the team defending and then stops the game twice, once for the kick and then again while they walk to a lineout.

The changes World Rugby must make after the World Cup

With the success of the U20’s it will be interesting to see how their futures line up with Super Rugby opportunities etc. A new era has to start, a clean sweep after a world cup, looking 4 years down the road to the next one. It will be interesting to see how many filter thru to the top, others that for whatever reason fail to make it, move to league or disappear into the ether.

Four hard truths for Australian rugby

The board picked someone they knew would do it his way only. By then adding in 2 knew faces to the selection mix this was always going to create further problems. The next coach will know the lay of the land before taking up the job. As we finished with 3 selectors I think people are entitled to know how all the continual team changes kept taking place. Did Cheika just get his way or were they also responsible for all the mayhem (119 changes this year!!!)F. The CEO, chairman and coach not being on talking terms is also an issue that needs to be reviewed. Accountability starts at the top.

Cheika's legacy: Consistent inconsistency and puzzling selection to the very end

Didn’t realise it went head to head I thought it would be pint difference. Head to head certainly seems a fairer tiebreaker.

Week 3 World Cup reflections: How rugby's crazy Cup just got crazier

Still trying to get my head around the idea if Japan vs Scotland is cancelled Ireland will top the group with a bonus point win.

Week 3 World Cup reflections: How rugby's crazy Cup just got crazier

So good to hear this type of news. obviously scour hard to find the info and it is greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work.

Two tries and counting for debutants Nauru

Only 5 loose forwards including Dempsey who’s missed a large amount of time to injury and Pocock the only world class player in the squad but has to have a question mark over his fitness. AAC?? Simmons???, only one true winger. Also very disappointed Banks has missed out. I know people question 2 or 3 hookers in case of injuries but I wonder if we picked 3 because of Latu’s knack of doing irrational things on the field and get suspended has come into the calculations.

Wallabies name 31-man squad for 2019 Rugby World Cup

1. “All the materialistic things I have been able to have over the last number of years are slowly being taken away from me”. 2 “The way Satan works is he offers you stuff that could look good to the eye and makes you feel comfortable, and if you follow that path all the worries and troubles will go away.” So which is it??? First he wants you to feel sorry for him then he talks about Satan tempting him. If he wants to not be materialistic go and live as a hermit where it is not possible to have these alleged problems. As for God speaking to him makes things acceptable if it was other voices talking to him people would say he needs medical help. I can see this remaining a distraction all the way thru SR and WC and become either an excuse of failure or some inspiration for success.

Folau confirms he knocked back RA's peace offering

The most worrying part of this ugly performance is that The Reds are theoretically the second best team in the land!!! This is a real concern for the state of the current Australian teams.

Reds narrowly beat Sunwolves in ill-disciplined clash

The other problem is the setting . resetting of scrums when a team has a player in the sin bin. Sometimes the 10 minute advantage is more like 5 minutes with all the delaying. Maybe as a desperate ploy make the game 70 minutes but time off the clock from when a scrum is called until it is finally back in play. In a lot of cases the game would last over a longer time period even though the game is 10 minutes less.

Scrums sucking too much precious time out of rugby

The ref had no option on Holloway, red card every day of the week. Once again the crowd size looked abysmal, everyone must have been on the camera side as the place looked empty.

Red carding Waratah Jed Holloway was rubbish rugby

Not sure we will know anything about the RAs “bold move” until a few days prior to July 20 and the first international against SA and see who is selected. If it’s the same old same old then there was no point adding 2 additional selectors. With so little few internationals left to experiment leading into the WC the whole things is just one big catastrophe.
