Payten is a smart coach. I agree the Cowboys are playing at 70%. Will be interesting to see how they go this weekend.
Drinkwater is nowhere near an Origin spot. His defence is very ordinary and his positioning not great. He wouldn’t be in the top 10 fullbacks atm but he looks great in attack and can do freakish things so the media loves him. Hopefully he improves his defence/positioning a lot.
Really need a halfback in my opinion. They rely on Drinkwater too much in attack. Townsend best years were years ago. I am hoping Clifford gets a run soon.
Not sure what they will do with Taumololo. Showed glimpses of his best last week. But at his price that is nowhere good enough. Mclean is still going well though. Cotter not having his best year but improving. Finefeuiaki is an outstanding talent and hoping the cowboys can keep him but someone will throw a bucketload of money at him.
As good a servant that Taumololo has been i would be happy to let him go to keep Finefeuiaki at the club. Finefeuiaki , Luki, Cotter, Neame, Robson, Nanai is an excellent young forward pack that could give the premiership a shake in a few years with a quality halfback

Contenders or ...? Cowboys shoot to top of the ladder but need to claim big scalp to prove title credentials

Lynagh the pick of Oz 10’s at the moment? I rate him but he wouldnt be in the top 3. Give him another couple of years in super rugby. He is only a 20 yr old so lots to learn

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

I didnt think Kalani Thomas had that great of a game. There were a lot of passes high, low and behind players. Really noticeable when the reserve half game on. Pasami was the standout. Lynagh played well. Well composed. The forwards as a unit played well

'Like a Scud missile': World Cup reject leads rout, but Reds suffer fresh blow with Petaia's season in jeopardy

Yer they are great to watch those two forwards. Like a well oiled machine. Would you rate them better than peak Lazarus and young Webcke? Or early 2000’s broncos with Civoniceva and Webcke? Its a totally different game now so hard to compare but I wouldnt put the panthers duo above those 2 combinations though

The NRL stat that isn't one, but should be: Working out which forwards really pull their weight

Hahahaha yes of course its relevant. We are talking about the hardest working forwards here though. If your halfback puts you thru a gap and you make 50 meters, that’s not the same as making 5 tough carries off your line

The NRL stat that isn't one, but should be: Working out which forwards really pull their weight

Yes i thought this would be the obvious one. If you are trying to work out the hardest working forwards, you would count the number of runs and number of tackles. Metres gained is not relevant.
You would probably rate tackles 50% of runs on the scale to make it more even

The NRL stat that isn't one, but should be: Working out which forwards really pull their weight

Drinkwater comes to mind in this case

Hahahahaha I am still getting over losing the Hammer too. Drinkwater couldnt play in the centres like the Hammer does for QLD too.
I am still getting over Ponga……

Wild idea but Blues should actually pick Origin team on form this time around - and that means Tedesco’s time is up

Hahahava yer tough crowd. Another Cowboy fan here. Drinkkwater has been outstanding in attack this year. Try assists etc.
Problem is his defence is .dreadful. And positioning not great. Shouldn’t be talked about in State of Origin until he improves his defence a lot. I actually think Townsend is still getting a run because of Drinkwaters attack is so good as Townsends isn’t.

Gee whiz!!!! Jake Trbojevic getting a nomination for the most over rated player in the game is the strangest thing i have read on this site for a while

Don't believe the hype: Why did Bulldogs fork out big bucks for the most overrated player in the NRL?

I think its great that Kurtley is focused to get back into the Wallabies. Good on him! But I think its a sad state for Australian rugby if a 35 yr old who hasn’t had much recent game time makes the team.

I would love my club to have Sua Faalogo, Siua Wong, Corey Horsburgh, Josh Schuster, Te Maire Martin, Jackson Hastings, Toby Sexton, Nelson Asofa-Solomona
and Ben Murdoch-Masila in it. Quality players and some may need a different club to excel

NRL rejects Jennings 300th game celebration as 'past conduct' criticisms mount

A team with Paps, Munster, Hughes and Grant will always be a genuine contender for the title. It doesnt really matter how well you are playing at this time of year. Coaches are only concerned about the processes. And the 2 points.
Souths were leading the competition after round 12 last year. 3 months into the season. They were playing some great footy. People were talking them up. Then they missed the top 8. Melbourne kept the premiers scoreless. That makes them a genuine contender. Although the season has just started

Storm warning: We’re sleeping on Melbourne again – they might be the biggest threat to the Panthers

Hahahaha this has to be a joke. Well played! 😊

Storm don’t have a problem with NAS. He is working his way back to fitness following injury. Will most likely play next week. And will improve their team
Schuster on the other hand…..

Getting value for money from stars is the biggest competitive advantage in the NRL - and the flip side can be devastating

You think he will get it easily? 800 000. I think he needs to have a very good season to be called elite. I can think of 10 centres and wingers i would have in front of him. Without even thinking 😂

Dragons finally letting Lomax leave - and his exit might start a feeding frenzy across the NRL

Who would you have in front of him? As mentioned above, Grealy and/or Petaia will move to centre/fullback if injury

The Titans had a good attack under Holbrook. Scored loads of tries and more points than the roosters last year. It was their defense that was terrible

Gee that’s a big win for WA cricket. An opening test match against India with all the build up to it. Hopefully they can get a big crowd and Australia can head to Adelaide leading 1 nil

I have never mocked WA cricket. I admire the team. Great team!
No doubt Voges is a good coach and would be great in the Australian set up.

It would be a strange decision if he goes to league next year with the Lions tour and home world cup coming up. League offers nothing like this. He hasn’t proved to be a great player on the big stage yet. Loads of potential. I prefer league but would like to see him play for the wallabies and become a great union player then move across to league

Great question. I would like to know the answer too. The referree likes to know who the captain is so he can relay his messages to the team but otherwise i dont think they do much these days
